(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Biophysics

Ultrasound focused on tumours in combination with microbubbles injected in the blood is reported to improve the uptake of drugs in tumours and improve the therapeutic response. Acoustic Cluster Therapy (ACT®) developed by the company EXACT Therapeutics is especially promising. ACT® is based on microclusters of the microbubble Sonazoid™ and microdroplets. After injecting the microclusters in blood vessels, ultrasound is focused to the tumor whereby the microbubbles oscillate and transfer energy to the microdroplets, which undergo a gas-to-liquid phase shift forming a large bubble. The volume of the ACT® bubbles is typically 1000 times larger than regular contrast agent microbubbles. When the ACT® bubbles are exposed to ultrasound they oscillate and induce biomechanical effects on the vessel wall enhancing extravasation of drugs into the tumour.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

(12) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in “Numerical models for heat and mass fluxes in complex flows”

One/two post-doctoral researcher positions are available at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, in the Thermofluids research group. Each appointment has a duration of 4 years and its supported by the Department. To meet the rising global energy demand in a sustainable manner, one way is to improve phase change heat transfer, which has therefore been the object of increasing engineering research over the last years. Phase change is the most efficient way to increase heat transfer since latent heat is typically much large than sensible heat. The recent development of micro and nanotechnologies has made the high-resolution control of surface texture and chemistry feasible over different length scales. These complex surfaces may significantly affect several multiphase processes of high practical interest, e.g., evaporation, boiling, condensation and freezing. In a field where experiments are complex, a deep understanding of the mechanisms underlying wetting and compressible multiphase flows with phase change, may therefore be achieved through high-fidelity numerical simulations.

(14) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post doc project on digitalization and robotization of work

We are hiring a 3-year postdoctoral fellow to research digitalization and robotization of work in a portfolio of projects at NTNU KULTs research group Digitalization and robotization of society (DigiKULT). We are looking for a postdoc with educational background in Science and Technology Studies (STS) or related fields in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), with excellent understanding of- and documented experience researching digitalization and/or robotization processes.

1. BIAS (2022-2026), funded by Horizon Europe

The BIAS-project investigates the use of Artificial Intelligence in the labor market and how biases in hiring and promoting processes based on personal characteristics are potentially reproduced with AI-based systems. E.g. by analyzing text created by an employee or recruitment candidate in order to assist management in deciding to invite a candidate for an interview, training and employee engagement, or to monitor for infractions that could lead to disciplinary proceedings. It is therefore necessary to identify and mitigate biases that occur in applications used in a Human Resources Management (HRM) context. The project will (1) investigate this from a technical perspective by identifying how current AI systems are biased and propose solutions to make them less biased, and (2) from a social scientific side with extensive ethnographic fieldwork concerning the lived experiences of employees, Human Resource managers, and technology developers. The project will then (3) provide substantial training for HR managers and technology developers regarding the responsible development and implementation of AI. (The latter two points are primarily the area in which the postdoc will work, with fieldwork in select country(s), and arrangement of workshops and knowledge building).

2. Robotics4EU (2021-2023). Funded by Horizon 2020

The Robotics4EU project is creating and empowering the EU-wide responsible robotics community representing robotics innovators from companies and academia in the four application areas, as well as citizens/users and policy/decision-makers by: (1) raising awareness about non-technological aspects of robotics by organizing community building and co-creation events bringing together the robotics community and citizens; (2) advocating for the responsible robotics among all stakeholders groups; (3) developing a responsible robotics maturity assessment model and bringing the project results to the standardization bodies. KULT is a project partner leading the healthcare and Societal Readiness part of the project. The postdoc will work on analyzing data and contributing to knowledge building of the robotics community through event organizations and outreach activities.

3. AUTOWORK (2020-2025). Funded by the Research Council of Norway

This project investigates how  new technologies of automation are changing work-life, as digital technologies are changing societies and work-life in rapid ways. Increasingly advanced, complex, and intelligent machines prove capable of performing work previously mastered by humans alone. The effects and implications of this for both individual workers and society are not yet known. NTNU and Monash University in Australia, explores this transformation across three sectors poised to be particularly impacted by automation: Building, Sale, and Healthcare. The postdoc fellow will conduct some fieldwork, analyze data, and contribute in writing up research, as well as help organize future scenario workshops, and will work primarily in the health care work package of the project.

(16) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
