(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: COLANDS POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Candidates are invited to apply for a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) at UBC in the Sunderland Lab. The successful candidate will take a lead role on an exciting on-going project “Collaborating to Operationalise Landscape Approaches for Nature, Development and Sustainability” (COLANDS), funded by the German government. This project is working in close collaboration with the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), the University of Amsterdam, and other partners to conduct innovative research related to sustainable landscapes, including forestry and other productive processes, as well as the essential work of engaging multiple stakeholders for better landscape-scale outcomes. The project is focused in three tropical landscapes situated in Zambia, Ghana and Indonesia. It is anticipated that some international travel will be required.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW

The School of Population and Public Health (SPPH) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) for a 2-year term, with an initial appointment of one year. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work both at the Vaccine Evaluation Center, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and with the Global Control of HPV Related Diseases research team at Women’s Health Research Institute. The projects will be centred around reduced dosing for the HPV vaccine and other long-term evaluations of HPV vaccination. (03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN RETINAL NEURODEGENERATION

The research project addresses the overarching challenge of understanding and characterizing molecular and cellular events associated with the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is a complex, multifactorial disease in which chronic, low-grade inflammation is thought to play a critical role in disease pathogenesis. While treatments exist for the exudative (wet) form of AMD, there are no treatments for the non-exudative (dry) form but many clinical trials are in progress.  Animal models, cell culture methods and human tissue samples will be used in the research studies. (06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN EATING BEHAVIOUR AND NUTRITION

We are presently recruiting a Postdoctoral fellow for a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded study examining the efficacy of digital dietary self-monitoring tool on health eating patterns. The post-doctoral fellow will be co-supervised by Dr Jean-Philippe Gouin at Concordia University and Dr. Tamara Cohen at the University of British Columbia.

The post-doctoral fellow will be actively involved in the development of a digital diet self-monitoring application based on the new Canadian Food Guide. Following an iterative application development process, the post-doctoral fellow will also be involved in testing the efficacy of the app through a randomized controlled trial. Opportunities for conducting additional studies on the science of eating behaviour change will be available.

Professors Robin Turner and James Piret invite applications for a full-time post-doctoral fellowship position available in the field of bioanalytical Raman microspectroscopy and Raman chemical imaging.  We seek a highly qualified individual with a doctoral degree in chemistry or physics or engineering with an interest in developing process analytical technologies for cell therapy bioprocess applications.  Essential qualifications include experience measuring and analyzing Raman spectra of live or fixed cultured cells using a commercial Raman microspectroscopy instrument and common multivariate chemometric methods (e.g., principal component analysis).  Experience with MATLAB and LabVIEW software applications would be an asset.
