Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Scholar – Cardiology, Department of Medicine

A renewable, 12-month, postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington to use patient-specific and gene-edited induced pluripotent stem cells to model genetic cardiomyopathies. This is an exciting, collaborative project involving genetics, bioengineering, and stem cell biology. Candidates should be highly motivated and have demonstrated experience in molecular biology and cell culture. Experience with iPSCs is not mandatory but desirable. This position will primarily be in Dr. Daniel Yang’s laboratory with the opportunity to be co-mentored by both Drs. Daniel Yang and Chuck Murry.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Scholar in Distributed Acoustic Sensing

The Geophysics Group at the University of Washington (UW) will hire a Postdoctoral Scholar (postdoc) supported by the UW Geohazards Initiative (GHI). The postdoc will have wide latitude to carry out data discovery and analysis on offshore distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) datasets from the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and beyond. The postdoc will have additional opportunities to participate in local, regional, and international DAS deployments. The research will entail some combination of data mining for transient events (e.g., earthquakes, marine mammal vocalization, magmatic unrest, atmospheric disturbances, glacier and landslide movement), data denoising, structural imaging beneath the cables, early warning system development and observation of oceanic processes. This is a non-exhaustive list of potential research directions and new lines of inquiry will be evaluated as they arise. The postdoc will work in an Open Science environment that leans heavily on workflow reproducibility in a version-controlled setting.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Scholar Position – Satellite Remote Sensing of the Cryosphere – Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Scholar in Coastal Ocean SAR Remote Sensing

The Applied Physics Laboratory of the University of Washington invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in remote sensing and coastal oceanography as part of an ONR funded project to measure waves, currents, and bathymetry from spaceborne SAR (synthetic aperture radar). The postdoc will use SAR data to implement and investigate the accuracy of wave, current, and bathymetry retrieval algorithms for use in the nearshore (inner shelf through the surf zone). This project will focus on data retrieved from rocky coasts where complex shorelines and bathymetry strongly affect the wave field and currents. Additional research directions are possible including, but not limited to, alternate retrieval algorithms (e.g. machine learning and artificial intelligence), novel SAR signal processing, and fusion with other remote sensing data. The postdoc will work in the Air-Sea Interaction and Remote Sensing Department at APL/UW with C. Chickadel and will collaborate with additional study participants at the University of Massachusetts, the Naval Research Laboratory, and additional institutions. The role of the postdoc will be (1) implementing SAR retrieval algorithms; (2) validation and testing against available ground truth data, and (3) dissemination of results at workshops, conferences and through peer-reviewed journals. The postdoc will be based at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. The start date is expected to be between May and July 2022, but more flexibility is possible.

The Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in physical oceanography as part of a NASA-funded study of Arctic salinity and stratification at the sea ice edge (SASSIE; https://salinity.oceansciences.org/sassie.htm). The postdoc will use data from a range of in situ and remote sensing platforms to investigate the spatio-temporal evolution of fresh meltwater layers in the Beaufort Sea and their impacts on upper ocean properties and sea ice. The postdoc will have the opportunity to join the month-long SASSIE research cruise in September 2022 to help collect these observations, which will include ship-based measurements, remotely-piloted surface and aerial vessels, drifters, and floats.

The Radionuclide Production and Molecular Radiotherapy Research Laboratories in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) are seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Scholar research position in the areas of radionuclide production and radiolabeling of biomolecules for molecular radiotherapy. Our research group develops and evaluates radiochemistry methods that can be applied to produce and purify therapeutic and theranostic radionuclides, as well as development of radiolabeling reagents/chelators used for attaching radionuclides to biological targeting molecules, such as monoclonal antibodies for cancer therapy.  Preclinical research in astatine-211-labeled monoclonal antibodies conducted by our group and collaborators at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has been translated to the clinic and is presently being evaluated in multiple clinical trials.
