Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
Automated medical image processing and analysis using machine learning techniques is a rapidly expanding area of research. The NIDUS (Northern Institute for Deep Learning in Ultrasound) laboratory undertakes a wide breadth of research and academic activities in this area. Reporting to the Dept. of Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging AI research chair (currently Jacob Jaremko, a Canada CIFAR AI Chair), the Research Associate plays an integral role in implementing and overseeing the full scope of research and academic activities carried out by NIDUS, at a high level as the trusted delegate and representative.
This person is required to apply extensive knowledge of research techniques in the fields of artificial intelligence and medical imaging to lead high-level, complex research activities, including the independent design of research plans and experimental approaches, and coordinating the activities of a diverse team of researchers, learners, clinicians and other stakeholders.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Reporting to Dr. Andrea Haqq, Principal Investigator, the main focus of the Post-Doctoral Fellow position will be to complete a pilot single-arm trial with the aim to explore the effect of semaglutide on energy metabolism in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The specific objectives of the study are (1) describe the effects of semaglutide on total and individual energy expenditure (EE) components (i.e. basal, resting, exercise, thermic effect of food, sleeping, and macronutrient oxidation rates) in individuals with obesity and T2DM; (2) assess determinants of metabolic adaptation, including body composition and metabolomics, and if EE predicts weight-loss responders.; and (3) utilize machine learning approaches will be explored to predict expected changes in EE to evaluate intervention-induced metabolic adaptation.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Farm Ventilation Applications

(17) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Position In Computational Psychiatry (Real-World Applications of AI and Machine Learning on Health Data)
The successful applicants will participate and lead research that applies advanced statistical, AI and ML techniques to large populational health data of patients with mental and substance use disorders. Current and potential projects include two main directions: 1) Individualized prediction of mental and substance use disorders and overdoses and associated health and economical outcomes in the population using health, survey and biological data; 2) Implementation of ML models through interactions with multiple stakeholders and people with living and lived experiences.
The successful applicants will have the opportunity of supervised access to several public and government/institution owned datasets, including large (over 4 million people) de-identified health data from Alberta. In this context, there are excellent opportunities for shared mentorship and collaboration with several PIs in psychiatry and computing science, including the Alberta machine intelligence institute (Amii).
The successful applicants will play a leadership role for several research projects in computational psychiatry, develop and participate in preparation of research grant proposals, assist in the supervision and training of other personnel including technologists, graduate students, other lab members and scientific collaborators. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to work directly with our partners in Ministries of Alberta Government, Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Canadian Mental Health Association Edmonton, as well as international partners. The Clemente research group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to perform high-level complex research activities for projects in cardioimmunology. Our main research topics include immune responses in cardioncology, viral and autoimmune myocarditis. We use genetically modified mouse models to uncover the role of immune cells in these settings. The projects will expose the PDF to a wide variety of scientific questions and approaches, including exploring changes in immunological responses and understanding mechanistic relationships between the immune system and heart function
The PDF will help establish project goals and experiments, and guide technicians and students in the lab. Specifically, for animal experiments, the candidate will be responsible for managing the ordering and maintenance of animals, records, and animal experiments.
