Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Neuroscience

The Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience (CSN) group is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral researcher to conduct research activities within the context of an adversarial collaboration to test several theories of consciousness. Current research of the group focuses on neural mechanisms of perception, multisensory integration, interactions between sensory and memory systems, and conscious representation. A theory of consciousness that is central to this application and has been developed in the group is Neurorepresentationalism (NREP). CSN research topics are addressed using a variety of methods, such as ensemble recordings in task-performing subjects, optogenetics, advanced analysis of neural data, computational modelling and theoretical analysis.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Position in Engineering of Enzymes for C-H Hydroxylation

A postdoctoral position is available for 18 months in the Biocatalysis group led by prof. Francesco Mutti at the Van ’t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). The project is in collaboration with biotech and a pharmaceutical companies. The project deals with the engineering of cytochrome P450 enzymes. Additionally, the engineered biocatalysts will be used for the conversion of pharmaceutically relevant alkane substrate(s) to yield alcohol(s) in high chemo-, regio- and stereoselectivity, while attaining the required productivity. The position is immediately available and can start as soon as possible and no later than September 1, 2022. The vacancy will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found, even if it is before the deadline for this application.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: 3 Postdoctoral Researchers

For the legal position, we are looking for a postdoc who will help us to critically assess the emerging regulatory framework for AI and digital platforms from the perspective of media organisations, journalism and citizens, identify and address emerging legal challenges. You will also help to develop guidelines for the responsible use of AI in the media and actively work together with the other 5(interdisciplinary) members of the lab and the media partners to solve legal questions that arise from the concrete case studies.

For the communication science position, we are looking for a postdoc to investigate how the introduction of AI is changing the relationship between media, users & AI and the effects for democratic engagement. How can AI-driven applications be designed in a way to earn peoples trust and acceptance, solve problems such as disinformation, but also how AI-driven applications can create new user experiences, e.g. through linked data, virtual assistants etc?

For the AI, data science / computational social science position, we are looking for a postdoc to work with media partners across different use cases, co-develop projects and solutions with partners, and work closely with the legal and communication postdocs to create joint projects, applications, and articles.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Computational Modeling

The project is highly feasible as it builds our previous research. First of all, we have proposed a computational model capturing various aspects of individual differences in meaning representations and developed an experimental paradigm to test the model predictions [see paper1paper2paper3]. The project is part of the Language in Interaction consortium, in particular Big Question 1 and 4. BQ4’s researchers have developed a test battery to measure linguistic and general cognitive skills [see paper]. The postdoc will be led and advised by researchers at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC), University of Amsterdam, and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior, Radboud University. The researchers coordinating the project include Jakub Szymanik, Robert van Rooij (ILLC, Amsterdam), Florian Hintz, and Antje S. Meyer (Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics.). The postdoc will be based at the ILLC, joining the research groups led by Robert van Rooij and Jakub Szymanik, and will visit Max Planck Institute regularly.
