At this level it is expected that the incumbent will efficiently manage their research and contribute to service and engagement activities. This position will be studying the blood-tissue interface at the microcirculatory level in both humans and in a porcine trauma model. This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities. The selected applicant will work as part of a large multi-party research project focused on reducing lodging risk in sorghum, funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation in partnership with Advanta Seeds and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. This project will use multi-disciplinary approaches to increase stalk strength and reduce lodging in sorghum. This project will combine physiological trait dissection, high throughput phenotypic screening, genome wide association mapping and genomic prediction, and will make use of a suite of existing large-scale genetic and genomics resources developed for sorghum. The project aims to apply new methods of genomic selection to generate a range of applied outcomes which will result in reduced losses and increased genetic gain for yield for farmers. In addition, there will be ample opportunity for publication and student supervision.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow that specialises in machine learning to join a team of researchers to establish workflows to drive strain design capability of this facility. The position is primarily computationally based and will work with a metabolic modeller/data scientist to use modelling and machine-learning approaches to learn from large data sets to identify optimal gene up/down regulation strategies to guide further strain engineering rounds. Successful candidates will work with customers of the facility which may include researchers and industry.

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow will focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. At this level the incumbent will be supported and guided by more senior academic staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time. The primary purpose of this position is research into new herbicides candidates for weeds of national significance and interactions with biological control agents developed for those weeds. This position will be located at St Lucia Campus as well as CSIRO (Dutton Park).

The primary purpose of this role is to engage, as a Facility Fellow in the Centre for Advanced Imaging as part of the radiochemistry and radiobiology facilities, providing expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis nationally. This role is part of the National Imaging Facility which currently provides, and is expanding, national infrastructure around radiopharmaceutical development. This role will engage extensively with researchers at our sister facility at ANSTO as part of the Australian Targeted Alpha Particle Facility, and help raise the profile of this new capability.

The position will undertake primary research on poverty and unemployment within a context of labour market and social policy changes that are shaping economic security, especially for groups who are socially and economically marginalised. The role has a particular focus on using ethnographic and qualitative methods to explore these research questions and issues. The position also involves a high level of research project management and close collaborations with external research funding partners.

The Functional Imaging and Brain Injury Laboratory directed by Dr. Fatima Nasrallah is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on a project supported by the Motor Accident Insurance Commission to investigate the spatial and temporal structural and functional changes in the brain following a brain injury using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The work will also investigate early neuroimaging markers following traumatic brain injury.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will assist in implementing an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project – Reducing global tourism carbon emissions, with a focus on applying economic and environmental modelling and optimisation analysis to construct a global tourism carbon emissions database. The Research Fellow will carry out a significant role in (1) estimating tourism carbon emissions for 160 countries using the input-output model, and (2) identifying major drivers, trade-offs, and environmental costs for tourism development in individual countries based on the decomposition analysis. In addition, the Research Fellow will assist in constructing an interactive website that allows the public to search and display the respective tourism carbon emissions for any given country or periods.
