The main role of this position will be to lead the production of Health Evidence Reviews (HERs) at the request of government. It requires proficiency in systematic review (including critical appraisal and meta-analytic techniques) and scoping review methods; basic quantitative techniques; and qualitative approaches to collecting and analysing data. Strong communication skills are needed, since the position must interact with many different stakeholder communities. In addition to this main role, there will be  opportunities to engage in other research related to methods for assessing technologies, services and programs throughout their lifecycle and determining the broader social value of therapies for rare diseases as part of other grants held by members of the Unit.  Therefore, activities in which the research associate will be involved include planning, developing, conducting, implementing and disseminating research in the form of HTAs and other empirical work.

The candidate will conduct research on oceanographic modeling, particularly in the area around Greenland. The Research Associate is tasked with investigating the dynamics of freshwater and warm water around the Greenland Ice Sheet. Operating within a multidisciplinary framework, this role combines ocean modeling and analysis of existing observational data to enhance the scientific community understanding of critical climate processes in the Arctic region. One key aspect will investigate oceanographic modeling in Baffin Bay, with an emphasis of freshwater in the marine system. Another aspect will investigate oceanographic modeling along the Northeast Coast of Greenland.

The Clemente research group invites applications for research associates to perform high-level complex research activities for projects in cardioimmunology. Our main research topics include immune responses in cardioncology, viral and autoimmune myocarditis. We use genetically modified mouse models to uncover the role of immune cells in these settings. The projects will expose the RA to a wide variety of scientific questions and approaches, including exploring changes in immunological responses and understanding mechanistic relationships between the immune system and heart function 

The RA will help establish project goals and experiments, and guide technicians and students in the lab. Specifically, for animal experiments, the candidate will be responsible for managing the ordering and maintenance of animals, records, and animal experiments. Independent decision-making and collaboration with lab trainees, animal care staff, the principal investigator, and veterinarians will be needed.

• Designs individual experiments, data collection protocols, and standards under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
• Determines the most appropriate methodology to meet identified research goals.
• Oversees/conducts data collection. Conducts advanced analysis of research data and results.
• Summarizes, analyzes, and organizes data for publication. Participates in the writing of research papers, the preparation of presentations, and/or other publications. May be considered as a co-author or presenter.
• Assists in the preparation of research grant applications and contract proposals.
• Responsible for the maintenance and efficient operation of the lab (e.g., specialized lab equipment maintenance and calibration).
• Guide technical staff, students, and/or post-doctoral fellows in the lab.
• Advise on specialized technical procedures or equipment.

A post-doctoral position is immediately available to study the biogenesis and role of lipid droplets in neurodegenerative diseases, as part of a collaborative project between the laboratories of Dr. Simonetta Sipione and Dr. Richard Lehner, at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

The project will be developed with a multidisciplinary approach involving the use of biochemical, molecular, cell biology and neurobiology techniques. 

The selected candidate will contribute significantly to advancing GUV technologies, dedicating 50% of their time to innovative research, including the design and efficacy testing of UVGI systems. A further 20% will involve the mentorship of graduate and intern students, providing both technical guidance and safety protocols under the Principal Investigator’s supervision. The remaining 30% will focus on self-directed research initiatives and the development of funding proposals.

A full-time postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Elhenawy lab at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada. We are interested in exploring the pathogenesis of Escherichia coli strains associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. This includes studying the metabolism of these bacteria in the host environment. Moreover, we are investigating how these strains use type IV secretion system to form biofilms in the gut. We apply cutting-edge tools such as transposon insertion-sequencing, RNA-sequencing, and microscopy to characterize the role of these bacteria in driving inflammation.

We are looking for a talented, knowledgeable and ambitious candidate to research several interesting medical-informatics tasks related to epidemiology (population disease forecasting) and bio-chemical analysis, as well as foundational topics, especially survival prediction and counterfactual reasoning, towards effectively learning personalized treatment effects. The Goping lab has a position available for a postdoctoral fellow for one year with the possiblity of extension. We are looking for person with the skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to conduct rigorous scientific studies in the area of breast cancer research. The candidate will play a key role in a multidisciplinary team project that involves generation and molecular characterization of breast cancer Patient Derived Organoids (PDOs). PDOs are generated from an individual patient tumor and are cultured as 3D organoids. The candidate will use PDO culture models to evaluate Patient/PDO drug sensitivity and use next-generation-sequencing to identify mechanisms of resistance. The Bressler lab (Biorefining Conversions and Fermentation Laboratory) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for a 1-year term, with the potential for extension. We are seeking an individual with strong skills, enthusiasm, and dedication to conduct robust scientific research in the field of single-cell protein (SCP) fermentation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in a collaborative team project focused on the development, optimization, and scaling up of a complex continuous fermentation system. Given the continuous nature of the fermentation process, the ability to work effectively within a cohesive team is essential to support extended campaign durations (the longest to date being 54 days continuously).
