As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
You will carry out research supervised by Jendrik Seipp, Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence at LiU.
The research for the advertised position will be within the WASP NEST project ”AI for Attack Identification, Response and Recovery (AIR²)”, where we use AI to enhance cybersecurity. The PhD project will focus on the subtopic “Learning Interpretable Models for Identifying Attacks and Countermeasures”. Here, we will develop a network hardening loop that learns symbolic AI planning models from data, uses them to identify possible attacks, and modifies the network to prevent them from happening.
The project will involve both theoretical and experimental work.

The research area deals with computational materials science combined with analytical method developments. The focus is on understanding and analyzing hard, refractory alloys for potential industrial applications. The research will focus on the inner workings of quantum computers, and what property that makes them more powerful than ordinary classical computers. A necessary property of quantum systems is so called quantum contextuality which is somewhat similar to non-locality that received the Nobel prize in physics 2022. A major goal of biomedical engineering is the generation of in vitro emulation systems of human organs, to be used as alternative to animal models in preclinical studies as well as platforms for studying organ and tissue regeneration.
