Postdoc summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Operator learning for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations

Atlantis is  a joint project-team  between Inria, CNRS and  Université Côte d’Azur, which gathers applied mathematicians and  computational scientists who are collaboratively undertaking  research activities aiming at the design, analysis, development and  application of innovative numerical methods for studying nanoscale light-matter interaction problems. In the recent years, the team has  developed the   DIOGENeS  [https://diogenes.inria.fr/]  software suite, which is organized around several numerical tools for the simulation  of physical problems related to the fields of nanophotonics and nanoplasmonics. In particular, this  software suite implements several high-fidelity fullwave solvers based on high-order Discontinuous  Galerkin  (DG)  methods tailored to the systems  of time- and frequency-domain Maxwell equations  possibly coupled  to  differential  equations modeling  the behavior of propagation  media at optical frequencies. Moreover, DIOGENeS also includes algorithms and workflows for the inverse design of nanostructures and nanophotonic devices for harvesting and shaping nanoscale light-matter interactions.  The numerical methods currently implemented in DIOGENeS are accurate and flexible but they are also time consuming. For this reason, the team has recently launched a line of research aiming at the design of novel AI-based methods by considering purely data-driven or model-driven modeling approaches.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Performance analysis of AI workloads

As part of an innovative research project, we are seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a one-
year position, renewable. The context is compiler optimization for AI compute kernels. The focus
is on performance analysis and modeling, both for optimization purposes and performance debugging.

In this context, the team is developing several tools. The first tool concerns the automatic
characterization of microarchitectures, covering all stages that impact performance such as
instruction decoding, branch prediction, scheduling queues, and cache management policies at
various levels. The second tool focuses on performance prediction and debugging of compute
kernels. The goal here is either to quickly predict (without compiling and executing) which
version of a kernel is faster, or to identify what is slowing down (e.g., instructions,
dependencies, cache misses) the execution of a compute kernel.

The use of these tools is specifically focused on the super-optimization of deep learning programs
within the Holigrail (PEPR IA), Deepgreen (BPI), and Camelia (PEPR agency) projects. Within these
projects, CORSE aims to contribute to the development of software and hardware infrastructures to
improve the efficiency of deep neural networks. The objective is particularly to develop a modern,
toolbox-style compilation infrastructure, providing expert programmers with the tools needed to
automate the super-optimization of their compute kernels.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Integrating fuNctional MRI and EEG with Carbon-wire Loops : towards the characterization of mUltimoDal functional biomarkErs (INCLUDE).

The human brain is organized as a complex network of billions of neurons, each connected to about 100,000 others through axons forming bundles of white matter fibers. Mapping these neuronal connections is crucial to study the neural foundations of both the healthy and pathological brain. Electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) are the main techniques used to assess brain function. EEG measures scalp-level signals that directly reflect neuronal activity with high temporal precision. fMRI, on the other hand, is sensitive to hemodynamic changes and provides an indirect measure of neuronal activity, but with poor temporal precision.

(17) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Postdoctoral Position – Neural correlates of social interaction and its impact on performance in middle childhood

Social interaction among children is crucial for the proper development of social and cognitive skills, as well as for proper brain development. However, the topic of how children acquire the ability to form social bonds with their peers remains understudied and therefore poorly understood. One possibility for exploring this question is to simultaneously measure the brain activity of two children during social interaction, a technique that is called hyperscanning. The inter-brain synchrony data elicited in this way can then be related to data on children’s embodied interaction with one another, data on the strength of their social bonds, and data on their performance on a collaborative task. Playing a key role in the collection and analysis of data for this study will be the job of the research engineer and/or postdoc hired for this position.

(23) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Editing and Conditional Generation with Text-to-Video Generation Models

Recent advancements in generative AI, and in particular diffusion models [1,2], have significantly enhanced the capabilities of text-to-video (T2V) models[3,4], allowing users to produce richly varied and imaginative scenes from natural language descriptions. These systems demonstrate strong scene diversity and flexibility, making them attractive for applications in entertainment, simulation, and human–computer interaction. However, a persistent limitation lies in their inability to enforce fine-grained conditioning. For example, while a T2V model can generate a “person walking in a park,” it cannot ensure that the person is wearing a specific garment or that the garment adapts convincingly to body shape, pose, and interaction with the environment. In contrast, virtual try-on (VTON) systems are highly specialized in clothing transfer tasks~[5], excelling at fine-grained conditioning of garments on target individuals. They can adapt clothing to morphology, pose, and texture details with remarkable realism. Yet, they lack the scene diversity and broader contextual awareness that T2V models offer. Current VTON approaches generally operate in isolation, focusing on clothing alignment rather than situating the dressed person within dynamic, complex environments. Bridging these two paradigms offers a powerful opportunity: to synthesize realistic humans dressed in controllable garments, embedded within richly described environments, and interacting with objects and other people. This integration could transform applications in e-commerce (immersive virtual try-on experiences), creative industries (fashion films, digital avatars), and simulation (training data for human–AI interaction).

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Visit F/M Generative Formal Code Annotations

We are looking for a post-doc candidate with a strong experience in formal methods or in Large Language Models (LLMs) or Reinforcement learning (RL) to propose new AI techniques to generate correct and informative formal code annotations from program source. In particular, we want to evaluate the potential of Large Language Models and Reinforcement Learning for improving the process of engineering verified software. In deductive verification, properties on the software are stated in a specific program logic and proven by automatic provers. For the proofs to be completed, the user is generally required to annotate the code with program invariants, i.e., additional logic formulas to help the automatic prover to carry out the proof. Finding an invariant that unlocks a stuck proof is a tedious, time-consuming and non-trivial. This problem is one of the main obstacle for a wider adoption of deductive verification techniques for the formal verification of programs.
