PhD position summary/title: Doctoral student in Computer Science with focus on AI engineering
The study subject is computer science with a focus on AI engineering, i.e. engineering of systems containing AI-based features. Specifically, it addresses the issue of using general vs. specialized models (e.g. per task, company, country or domain). From a technical perspective, there are a multitude of factors to trade across the range of generalization–specialization, including model performance, energy consumption, training data supply, and integrity of data. The project aims to address AI engineering in business-to-business (B2B) contexts in various industry domains, as well as open source AI models. We perform empirical studies of industry practice for in-depth problem understanding. The project aims to design solutions for technical specialization and ecosystem governance. In particular, trade-offs between model size, data needs, computing costs, privacy and secrecy will be addressed.

PhD position summary/title: Doctoral student in Human Rights Studies
Children are among the most vulnerable in times of societal crises, yet their role in civil defense and crisis preparedness remains severely understudied. This project addresses a critical research gap by investigating the conceptualization and implementation of children’s rights—both to protection and participation—within Sweden’s civic preparedness framework. This interdisciplinary study will conduct qualitative interviews to examine how children perceive and articulate their responsibilities in civil defense. The project applies theories of children’s citizenship and critical preparedness studies to challenge conventional narratives that reduce children to passive victims rather than active members of society. In a time of growing influence of preparedness discourse, this project will advance research on crisis governance and children’s rights, and the findings will contribute to a deeper understanding of how preparedness policies shape conceptions of childhood, citizenship, and societal responsibility.

PhD position summary/title: Doctoral Student in Service Studies for the project “Sustainable Leadership for the Benefit of Citizens.”
The Department of Service Studies at Lund University is recruiting a doctoral student for the project “Sustainable Leadership for the Benefit of Citizens.” Managers play a central role in linking strategic goals to everyday work, particularly in the public sector where their decisions directly affect citizens. At the same time, work‑related health issues among Swedish managers—especially women—is increasing substantially, posing risks to equality. Although public‑sector managers operate in highly complex environments, support for sustainable leadership remains largely unexplored. This makes managerial work‑related health issues a critical blind spot that must be addressed to achieve sustainable societal solutions.
