The successful candidates are expected to perform the following tasks:

• Work on project-relevant subjects from the last and current Release of the 3GPP radio access and/or core network standards, implement the features in MATLAB and/or OpenAirInterface software for computer simulations, and conduct theoretical research to submit proposals to the ongoing study or work items, with a view towards patenting and possible inclusion into the future Releases.
• Perform research on future communications networks topics including, but not limited to:
  • Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs)
  • Multicast and Broadcast Services (MBSs)
  • Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV), UA System (UAS) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM)
  • Experimental emulators, prototypes, testbeds and distributed research infrastructure test platforms
• Set up real-world testing both in the laboratory using emulators and software defined radios (SDRs), and in the field using drones or satellites, to validate research or project outcomes
• Disseminating results through foremost scientific publications and conferences in their fields
• Contribute to the development of research proposals for attracting funding through industrial, national, and European projects on the topic
• Publish research findings in the prestigious peer-reviewed journals and present at relevant conferences
• Contribute to different research projects, either coordinating technical contribution and/or preparing project deliverables
• Eventually, help in the supervision of PhD students

The successful candidate will join the SIGCOM Research Group, led by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, and contribute to machine learning and AI projects for satellite systems. We are looking for a candidate capable of developing ML models and optimization algorithms specifically designed for highly dynamic satellite communication (SatCom) systems that can handle networks of varying sizes and configurations without requiring retraining from scratch, while maintaining robustness to changes in node order and network topologies. The position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research that addresses both theoretical challenges and practical applications.

• Create and deliver HPC training modules specifically designed for industrial partners and public administrationsProvide high-level support to internal and external partners

The postdoctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professor Niovi Vavoula

The successful candidate will carry out research activities, draft research projects and attract external research funding, teach up to 90 hours a year within the Computer Science Bachelor and Master programs of the faculty, handle and coordinate activities in the area of computer science, and contribute to the organization of conferences.

The overarching scientific project is AI in security and security of AI systems. This potentially encompasses the design and implementation of techniques to deceive content classifiers, e.g. text/code, audio, images, videos, detect AI created content, or enforce digital forensics. Suggestions for other research topics in deep learning, evolutionary algorithms and their applications in security can also be discussed and are welcome.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to carry out the experimental implementation of a research project aimed at characterizing patient-derived microglia-integrated nigrostriatal assembloids to investigate neuroinflammation in the pathogenesis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) and to evaluate therapeutic modulation of neuroinflammatory pathways.

This position centers on establishing and systematically characterizing microglia-containing nigrostriatal assembloids to dissect the interplay between neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and α-synuclein pathology. The research combines advanced 3D stem cell modeling, neuroimmune interaction studies, high-content imaging, molecular and biochemical analyses and the evaluation of immunomodulatory therapeutic strategies in MSA.

AI4KIDS addresses the critical need for child-centric safe AI by developing a norm-first Belief–Desire–Intention (BDI) architecture where generative models (LLMs) are constrained by machine-readable child-protection policies to ensure purposeful, legally compliant, explainable and auditable AI behaviour. The research advances three main technical fronts:

• Embedding explicit norms into the BDI cycle, compiled into enforceable policy-as-code for real-time safety checks
• Parameter-efficient fine-tuning of LLMs for age-appropriate, pedagogically meaningful dialogue
• High-performance computing pipelines on Luxembourg’s MeluXina supercomputer for large-scale simulation and adversarial testing

The project also includes industrial validation with social robotics platforms (e.g., QTrobot) for deployment in educational and special-needs contexts, marrying computational law, symbolic AI, and large-scale evaluation into a blueprint for safe child-facing AI.

The successful candidate is expected to assume a leading role in defining, acquiring, managing, and scientifically contributing to projects in Robotic Manipulation for Space Robotics. The candidate will carry a leading role in this area and support PhD candidates in their thesis research. The candidate will work closely with Prof. Carol Martinez, Prof. Olivares-Mendez, and the members of the Space Robotics (SpaceR) research group (www.spacer.lu).

The group works across the entire spectrum of space robotics research and applied research to conceive and demonstrate future orbital and planetary space robotics paradigms on in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing, space debris removal, XR immersive teleoperation, robot multi-modal perception (vision and tactile), and multi-robot cooperation. Researchers with an interest in non-terrestrial robotic manipulation will find a young and vibrant team of over 23 members fostering a collaborative atmosphere (2 Professors, 4 PostDocs RA, 15 PhD students, 1 Research assistant). We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to lead experimental work on patient iPSC-derived midbrain organoids, assembloids and chimeroids to investigate mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease (PD). The work has a particular focus on high-throughput technologies and the analysis of protein aggregation. The project integrates stem cell biology, stress granule biology, multi-omics, and therapeutic target validation.

The successful candidate will pursue postdoctoral research in group actions, geometric structures, and smooth dynamics in the research group of Prof. K. Melnick, within the Department of Mathematics at the University of Luxembourg. She or he is expected to actively contribute to the scientific activities of the research group, including participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, and collaborative research initiatives.
