Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in non-conventional yeast biotechnology for industrial side-streams valorization into bio-based plastics – DTU Bioengineering
DTU Bioengineering is excited to announce an open postdoc position, as part of the new established WAVE consortium for saline effluents valorization into high-value compounds using non-conventional yeasts. This project turns the critical characteristics of dairy wastewater into interesting features and avoids the necessity of whey separation and drying considering it as a valuable stream to be converted into carbon sources. Hence, this project will apply microbial-based bioprocesses towards dairy WAstewater reuse and conVErsion into new bioplastics (WAVE). For this, WAVE aims to obtain low-salinity clean water ready to use in landscaping and bioplastics to be applied in several sectors.
In the proposed WAVE technology, dairy wastewater containing whey will be used as feedstock to produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in an anaerobic fermentation, then subsequently converted into single cell proteins (SCP) using the halophilic yeast Debaryomyces hansenii while reducing the salt content in the broth by engineering intake and compartmentalization cellular transport systems.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Multimodal Imaging for Detection of Pancreatic Cancer – DTU Health Tech
DTU Health Tech invites applications for a Postdoc investigating how tissue optics can improve both the imaging depth of optical coherence tomography and the sensitivity of this method for detecting pancreatic cancer. The position will be part of the Biophotonic Imaging Group in the Optical Imaging and Sensing (OASIS) section. You will be joining a dynamic, collaborative and interdisciplinary team where you will get all the necessary support to turn your ideas into great results. Additionally, you will be part of a vibrant international collaboration with opportunities to expand your knowledge through external research visits.

We develop and innovate new optical imaging concepts and technologies that enable novel insights into tissue function and disease biomarkers, and new clinical achievements that improve healthcare.
Pancreatic cancer is the 12th most common cancer, but one of the deadliest, with a 5-year survival rate around 13%. This poor prognosis is due to the lack of screening technologies that can detect pancreatic cancer at an early stage – diagnosis at stage Ia would increase the 5-year survival rate 10-fold. This is your opportunity to contribute to the development of an exciting new theragnostic platform for screening, early diagnosis, and in situ treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in safe use of new biobased building and construction materials – DTU Sustain
If you wish to use your research capacity as a 3-year postdoc to enable faster implementation of new biobased building and construction materials, this is an option for you.
For new types of biobased building and construction materials, there is inherently no empirical knowledge of their properties over long service lives based on experience. This is hindering adoption, which requires documentation of their safe use throughout their service life and within a circular economy across multiple service lives in different buildings.
In this project, an entirely new experimental and computational methodology is developed to assess safe use with respect to structural safety, fire safety, possible content of hazardous components, and the provision of a healthy indoor environment throughout their entire service life. The methodology will include established methods for biobased materials, likely after modifications, and additional methods as needed and as systematization progresses. Accelerated tests and modeling of changes in characteristics in different environments are both highly important topics.
The successful candidates will be part of the DTU Sustain Section for Construction Materials and Durability. The postdoctoral research will be conducted in connection with the new, large research project Civil Engineering and the Green Transition in the Built Environment (CEBE). As part of the section and the CEBE project, the successful candidate will join a highly ambitious work environment that involves extensive national and international collaboration with leading academic institutions and industry partners.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: PPostdoc in T Cell Immunoinformatics – DTU Health Tech
The Section of Bioinformatics, DTU Health Tech is world leading within Immunoinformatics and Machine-Learning. Currently, we, together with a leading external pharma company party, are seeking a highly talented and motivated Postdoc candidate within the field of Immunoinformatics and prediction of T cell immunogenicity.
HLA class II antigen presentation is fundamental to T-helper cell immunogenicity. Over the past decade, this process has been well characterized, and robust methods have been developed to predict it with high confidence. In contrast, our understanding of the principles governing T-cell immunogenicity of HLA-presented peptides remains limited.
This gap significantly restricts the utility of current antigen presentation quantification tools—both in silico and experimental—hindering early immunogenicity risk assessment during protein drug development. A deeper understanding of the mechanisms driving T-cell activation would represent a paradigm shift in biologics development. However, progress is constrained by the scarcity of high-quality, well-characterized in vitro T-cell immunogenicity data.
In this project, we will leverage expertise and technology in peptide T-cell immunogenicity with DTU’s strengths in immunoinformatics and machine learning, to address this challenge. Our work will provide novel insights into the current T-cell activation assays and datasets, and enable the development of the first predictive model for T-cell immunogenicity of HLA class II-presented peptides in the context of protein therapeutics.
If you’re looking to launch your scientific career at the intersection of bioinformatics and machine learning, this position supports a pathway toward academic excellence and research independence – whilst also offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a global pharmaceutical leader.

The project involves structural studies of thin films of specifically designed ABC-stars synthesized by a PhD student in the group of Kristoffer Almdal (position announced simultaneously) and studied using Grazing-Incidence Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (GISAXS) in the group of Dorthe Posselt, RUCSAXS, Roskilde University. The project has a fundamental research focus, but thin films with tailored nano-scale structures have potential applications in e.g. nano-lithography, photonics and membranes.

- Advancing equivariant neural network potentials (ENNPs) to model nanoparticle energy surfaces.
- Building atom-explicit ground-state models of supported and unsupported nanoparticles.
- Modeling catalytic reaction kinetics to identify active sites and reaction barriers, integrating experimental TEM data.
- Comparing adsorbate-induced nanoparticle morphologies with ENNP-based simulated TEM data for coherent interpretation.

(34) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Nanotexture Imaging System Development for Dermatological Applications – DTU Health Tech
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with expertise in instrumentation development, particularly in LabVIEW, C++ and Python programming for high-precision measurement systems. As a key member of our team, you will lead the development and optimization of our high-speed dermal atomic force microscope (HS-DAFM) control software and signal processing circuits. These systems are critical for capturing high-quality nanotexture images from skin samples collected across five countries and four continents.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and dermatological research, with direct impact on improving diagnostic capabilities for challenging skin conditions. You will collaborate with leading researchers in dermatology, medical imaging, and artificial intelligence from prestigious institutions in Denmark, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the United States, and Australia.
As a postdoctoral researcher on the ATHENA project, you will be responsible for the technical development of our high-speed dermal atomic force microscope (HS-DAFM) system, with a primary focus on software architecture and signal processing. You will work closely with our international team of collaborators to ensure the system meets the rigorous requirements for clinical skin sample analysis.
