The Ferris lab at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research associate in the fields of tumor immunology and autoimmunity. We study the dendritic cells required to mount adaptive T cell responses in the context of tumors and autoimmunity to better understand tumor evolution and identify novel therapeutic strategies that can improve patient outcomes. NIH funded postdoctoral positions are available to study the structural enzymology of proteins responsible for blood coagulation (https://biochem.slu.edu/faculty/dicerawp/) with the goal of unraveling the molecular architecture and mechanism of the underlying interactions. The approach uses a combination of conventional (rapid kinetics, protein engineering, X-ray crystallography) and innovative (smFRET, cryo-EM) biophysical techniques. Current projects in the lab focus on the interaction of prothrombin with prothrombinase, leading to generation of thrombin and blood clotting, the activation of factor V required for assembly of prothrombinase and the interaction of the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex with protein C that halts the coagulation response. Additional studies focus on factor V short and its interactions with TFPIalpha, protein S and factor Xa and on proteins of the contact pathway like factors IX, XI and XII. Experience in rapid kinetics, smFRET, X-ray crystallography, NMR, or cryoEM is required.

This NIH-funded position focuses on investigating cancer biology. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work with cell culture system ; perform animal (mouse) work; contribute to the overall design, implementation, analysis, and presentation/publication(s) of this project with opportunities available to initiate additional research projects as appropriate. 

The laboratory of Dr. Angel Baldan in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Saint Louis University has an immediate opening for a junior postdoctoral fellow with proven expertise in lipid/sterol metabolism, ncRNAs, RNA-seq, and/or molecular mechanisms of diet-induced diseases (CVD, NAFLD, obesity). The Baldan laboratory has ongoing research programs related to lipid droplet-associated proteins, sterol-regulated ncRNAs, and liver/adipose/intestinal/lipoprotein lipid homeostasis. An independent and highly motivated candidate with a recent Ph.D. degree and rigorous training in molecular/cell biology is required for the position. Competitive candidates have two or more first-author publications and are experienced and comfortable working with mice. Candidates with research experience in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing are preferred but not required.

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Amina Mohammadalipour at Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO. Alipour lab combines biophysics, mechanobiology, structural biology, membrane proteins, and genetics to understand the fundamental mechanisms underlying cancer cells’ rheological properties. Past experiences with cell culture, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and live imaging are required. Experiences in micropipette aspiration, AFM, flow chambers/microfluidic devices, Western blotting, and PCR are preferred but not required.

The Cifarelli Lab at SLU School of Medicine is seeking a motivated postdoc to work on a NIH funded project examining the role of lipids in vascular and lymphatic endothelial cell biology and its connection to gastrointestinal health and inflammation. NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join the laboratory of Dr. Aubin Moutal, in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at St Louis university to study novel proteins involved in chronic pain in the context of autoimmunity. Our work focuses on first identifying determinants of the transition from acute to chronic pain by reverse translating clinical findings to then perform a complete mechanistic characterization of how these new factors influence chronic vs physiological pain. The PI has a strong record of high impact papers with multiple recent publications in Science Translational Medicine, Pain, and PNAS. Through the active external collaborations with the New York University (Dr. Rajesh Khanna), the University of Arizona (Dr. Frank Porreca) and with the Institut neuromyogene in France the candidate will also grow an interest in ion channel regulation, central mechanisms of pain and paraneoplastic syndromes, respectively. Major techniques include immunohistochemistry, protein-protein interactions and protein biochemistry are employed to support findings from our behavioral and electrophysiological experiments. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology, IF, IHC, Western analysis, and enzyme assays; experience with phosphorylation, ubiquitination, and/or a mouse colony are pluses. Successful applicants will be highly motivated individuals with good communication skills, will have a proven publication record, and the ability to work independently. As a postdoctoral research fellow in the Laryngeal Biology Laboratory at Saint Louis University, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research experimentation under the general direction of the principal investigator (PI), Dean Bernard Rousseau.

Our NIH-funded laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to study the immunological response and pathogenesis of viral infections. Laboratory studies are focused on the understanding of the antigen specific B cell response to infection and vaccination and how this B cell response is reflected in the polyclonal antibody response. Our laboratory uses in vitro and in vivo approaches to understand infection and disease.  Techniques include cloning and molecular biology, biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, flow cytometry, transcriptomics, and mouse models of infection. Experience in one or more of these techniques and areas is strongly preferred. You will be provided with the mentorship and resources to be successful.
