(11) Postdoctoral Position:

Summary of postdoc position: To unlock the potential benefits from soil carbon projects, we need to simultaneously reduce the cost and increase the quality of data necessary to adapt the existing and approved methodological framework for carbon accounting to one that can utilise remotely sensed data streams. Achieving this will not only provide low-cost abatement to mitigate climate change while emissions in other sectors are reduced but also provides an opportunity to use carbon market financing to improve Australia’s soil assets. The CERC postdoctoral fellow will lead the development of ‘Next-generation national dynamic space-time empirical soil carbon model’. The outcome of this research will improve soil carbon stock accounting at the national level to enhance Australia’s national carbon accounting system. This will create the basis for improved uptake of carbon farming under the Emissions Reduction Fund or other market mechanisms.

(12) Postdoctoral Position:

Summary of postdoc position: The Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team including bacteriologists, virologists, cell biologists, immunologists and material scientists to address the challenges of AMR in patients that suffer from chronic respiratory diseases. As more antibiotics have become ineffective, the discovery and development of new antimicrobials, including unconventional therapeutics, to treat bacterial infections associated with biofilms and multi-drug resistant bacteria is an urgent unmet need. There are currently no appropriate animal models for human lung diseases to test new antimicrobials. The PDF will establish bacterial infection models using the 3D human tissue culture models of lung diseases to provide a platform for testing emerging antimicrobial technologies synthesized within CSIRO to treat microbial infections.
