Our research combines in vivo large-scale electrophysiology (Neuropixels), AAV-based circuit targeting, behavior, and imaging approaches such as miniscope and two-photon microscopy. We maintain a strong commitment to technical innovation and behavioral rigor.

We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with a strong background in multi-omics data analysis to join our research team focused on cancer biology. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge investigations into tumor genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, with the goal of uncovering novel biological insights and informing the development of next-generation cancer therapies.

The successful candidate will lead the development and maintenance of robust computational pipelines for the integration of high-throughput sequencing data, including de novo transcriptome assembly and open reading frame (ORF) prediction. A key aspect of the work involves translating transcriptomic data into custom protein databases to support mass spectrometry-based proteomics, enabling the discovery of tumor-specific antigens.

This position is ideal for a scientist who thrives in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and is passionate about applying computational approaches to complex biological questions. The role also includes the development of tools and resources to support the clinical translation of research findings, particularly in the context of targeted immunotherapies.

In this project, you will have the opportunity to address outstanding questions in the field of infection biology of invasive infection. You will work with clinical samples to map local and systemic immune responses and translating the findings into tailored in vitro models for mechanistic studies. Your main task will be to design in vitro soft tissue models, including organotypic 3D models or microfluidic models that mimic the tissue microenvironment of infection. These models will include the key factors identified by microscopy and transcriptomics of biopsies, immunoprofiling of blood cells, and/or plasma proteomics. You will conduct mechanistic studies through in vitro infections in the novel models to examine the changes in immune responses and metabolism of both the host and pathogen. Our aim is to identify pathways critical for the development of severe infections.

Your main role will be to further develop a novel risk prediction tool developed by our group and validate this in several international collaborations. The role may involve travelling to other countries when needed. Another task will be to use unique imaging data to predict incident liver disease.

Research in Galina Selivanova’s lab is focused on the identification and mechanistic studies of the interplay between the tumor suppressor p53, the microbiota and the immune response, and its impact on cancer. To reach this goal, we use small molecules as research tools and apply systems biology and high throughput assays, such as transcriptome profiling, ChIP-seq, and CRISPR screens. We aim to bridge cancer biology with microbiology and immunology studies by performing multidisciplinary research at MTC, a very advantageous environment including experts in cancer and cell biology and immunology.

We are seeking a Computational Biologist at post-doctoral level. The main duties include bioinformatics analysis with particular focus in RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics analysis. An interest in data visualization and big data analysis is a plus. The applicant is expected to have a strong interest in mucosal immunology. The applicant will work in close collaboration with other PhD students, postdocs and researchers. The applicant is expected to actively participate in other lab projects and present results to general and specialized audiences. An interest in the application of machine learning approaches is also desirable.

• Data QC, data management and archival storage
• Analysis of large datasets, preparation of codes, development of new methods/tools for advanced analysis of datasets

The field of synthetic biology is highly interdisciplinary, combining advanced molecular tools (e.g., CRISPR-based genome engineering), computational algorithms, and DNA/RNA sequencing and synthesis to design useful cell behaviors. The scope of this project is to combine multi-gene control technology and computer algorithms to develop a foundational discovery platform for future cell programming applications.

This position involves both experimental and computational work. The experimental work includes the use of CRISPR-based transcriptional control, single-cell omics experiments, molecular cloning, cell culture, and standard laboratory methods such as flow cytometry and RT-qPCR. The computational work includes, for example, the analysis of omics data and computational modeling. Experience in cell culture, molecular cloning, and bioinformatics analyses is required. Proficiency in statistics and programming are highly meriting, especially in gene regulatory networks, machine learning, and bioinformatics tools. Expertise in CRISPR-based assays, especially CRISPR screening, is highly meriting, as is experience with single-cell RNA sequencing or other omics assays. Excellent verbal and written English skills are required, and the ability to apply for grants is an asset.

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Francois Lallemend at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute, to investigate the molecular landscape of the inner ear during development and under various physiological and pathological conditions. The research has direct implications for the development of regenerative therapies and for understanding sensory disorders linked to aging and auditory dysfunctions such as tinnitus. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research program that combines experimental models, patient-derived materials, and advanced technologies to explore the mechanisms that preserve auditory system homeostasis and how their disruption contributes to altered auditory perception.

We are offering a one-year postdoctoral scholarship to a highly motivated researcher interested in conducting a meta-analysis of physiological changes during spaceflight analogs. Your primary task will be to synthesize data from at least seven bed rest studies to investigate musculoskeletal adaptations to both short- and long-term simulated microgravity.

Additional opportunities include participation in ongoing wet lab experiments and human research projects. You will work under the supervision of Dr. Rodrigo Fernandez-Gonzalo, who leads ESA-funded research and collaborates with an international network of experts in space physiology.

This interdisciplinary project leverages expertise in mitochondrial disease and molecular immunology to investigate the mechanisms and consequences of mitochondrial dysfunction in patients with inherited disorders and in animal models of mitochondrial pathology. The goal is to uncover novel insights into the role of mitochondria in human immunity through detailed molecular characterization of these disease models.

Joanna Rorbach’s lab: Our current research encompasses genetic, structural, and biochemical studies to understand the regulation of gene expression in mitochondria, often in the context of immunity (e.g. Shao et al. Nature Communications 2025; Zhang et al. JCI Insight 2023; Kruger et al. Nature Commun. 2023; Itoh et al. Nature, 2022 Cipullo et al. We are recruiting a post doc in epidemiology or biostatistics, who has a genuine interest for – and experience from – working with large-scale epidemiologic data analysis. The applicant will join a well-funded research group that primarily conducts research on short- and long-term complications of blood transfusions, as well as on possible health effects of repeated blood donation. Examples of ongoing studies include, but are not limited to, donor health and disease transmission from blood donors to transfused patients. Research is mostly based on the SCANDAT database, a comprehensive database on blood donations and transfusions with health outcomes of both donors and transfused patients, dating back to the 1960’s.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in the field of molecular endocrine pathology, with a strong interest in translational cancer research, particularly focused on thyroid cancer. The successful candidate will actively contribute to research projects aimed at elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying thyroid tumor dedifferentiation and resistance to conventional treatments. The research project involves the integration of advanced transcriptomic approaches, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, as well as proteomics, to identify novel biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets. Complementary in vitro studies using established thyroid cancer cell lines will support the validation of key findings and the functional characterization of newly identified markers involved in tumor progression and dedifferentiation.

The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in molecular biology. Experience in omics-based data generation and a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex high-throughput datasets is considered a strong advantage. Prior experience with thyroid cancer models, endocrine tumors, or tumor heterogeneity is highly desirable. The position primarily involves developing image analysis algorithms to predict future hip fracture risk using opportunistically acquired CT images. There will also be opportunities to engage with other clinically significant research questions. A central focus will be on designing computational methods for medical image analysis, which may not necessarily rely entirely on statistical learning techniques, depending on the nature of the problem and the available clinical data. Research findings are expected to lead to publications in method-oriented or radiology-focused journals. Writing clear and maintainable code documentation will be an important part of the work, supporting long-term research continuity. In addition, the role includes contributing to the teaching of PhD and medical students.

We seek a skilled bioinformatician or computational biologist with experience in next-generation sequencing data processing, analysis and visualization (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, single cell data or similar). The ideal candidate is passionate about answering biological questions related to how genetic risk for schizophrenia affects different cell types and their functional maturation. The successful candidate will lead projects involving the analysis of large spatial transcriptomics and single-nuclei RNA-seq data sets from mouse models and human subjects. The candidate will work closely with experimental researchers and technical personnel in the team and collaborators in international consortia. He/she will be responsible for data analysis, visualization and development of new computational methods for processing and analysis of high dimensional large-scale omics data.

The available postdoctoral position concerns developing and applying novel computational approaches to study gene expression and RNA localization. The candidate will focus on the development of novel RNA methods for the understanding the role of mRNA isoforms in diversifying mRNA subcellular localization. The candidate will integrate different computational approaches for the completion of the project, including  long-read sequencing, spatial transcriptomic and different NGS methodologies and pipelines in different human cell models. This will include the study of the localized translation regulation and other related processes in response to environmental and drug perturbations using novel tools that our laboratory has recently developed. The candidate will perform original research in transcriptomics and computational biology, and acquire the required experimental and computational skills necessary for the completion of the project.

The candidate is expected to communicate the scientific results by writing up scientific papers and attending scientific meetings. The ideal candidate will participate in the general duties of the team and effectively communicate with scientists of very diverse backgrounds in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment. Working language is English.

The Mjösberg group studies the development, regulation and function of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in humans, and how these cells contribute to pathology in mucosal organs such as the lung and gut. The studies are translational as they involve advanced basic molecular and cellular immunological investigations of human tissue samples to discover novel disease mechanisms and therapy targets. The group is internationally recognized in the field through several high impact publications in recent years. The group is part of the Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM) at Karolinska Institutet, which is an internationally leading translational research center in immunology. CIM is a stimulating research environment where the next generation of scientists in immunology can thrive.

The successful candidate will be part of a team in an ongoing project that involves addressing phenotypes and functions of ILCs across human tissues. The project involves handling of human tissues and isolation of innate and adaptive lymphocytes, analysis of high resolution/spectral flow cytometry data, in vitro cell-differentiation and co-culture assays, loss- and gain- of function experiments, transcriptional and epigenetic analyses on bulk- and single-cell level (scRNAseq and ATACseq). As this is a team effort, excellent communication skills are essential, as is proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. It is expected that the postdoc drives the project forward including supervising students and other researchers if necessary, as well as contributes to some common lab duties.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated person. A successful candidate for this position should have a broad knowledge base in molecular biology and cell biology. It is essential that the candidate has documented experience working with genome-wide techniques and protein analyses. The candidate should have a PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology, cancer biology or equivalent and has typically published significant scientific articles relating to this area of research. However, we stress research expertise when assessing applicants.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. The Baranello Lab – Drawing from our expertise in the fields of topoisomerase and cancer biology, we aim to answer fundamental questions about how transcription, replication and DNA topology are functionally coordinated in human cells. We use state-of-the-art approaches to assess transcriptomic, epigenomic and replisomic profiles, as well as molecular biology, advanced microscopy and drug screens to understand how topoisomerase regulation affects fundamental nuclear processes (key lab references: Baranello et al. Cell 2016; Wiegard et al. Molecular Cell 2021; Das et al. Molecular Cell 2022; Cameron et al. Science Advances 2023). The overall aim is to reveal novel cancer therapy targets and improved strategies for personalized treatment.

Recently we have identified a protein complex called “topoisome” in which the oncoprotein MYC recruits and increases the catalytic activities of both Topoisomerase 1 and 2 to promote high rates of transcriptional (Das et al. Molecular Cell 2022). The successful candidate will play a leading role in a full-time research project funded by the European Research Council Consolidator Grant, focused to address the functional role of the topoisome during transcription. Specifically we want to study the coordination of the topoisome and the transcriptional machinery. The outcome of this work is predicted to inspire a new strategy to target MYC in cancer, which will be tested in MYC-driven cancer models. This multidisciplinary project involves master biochemistry, master molecular biology, proteomics/genomics, and computational analysis. The postdoc will plan and execute experiments, analyze data, interpret, and present the results, supervise students as well as write scientific articles, initially under partial supervision but with greater independence going forward.

The current project will focus on immunophenotyping and functional characterization of cells from patients with primary immunodeficiency. The project will involve the following methods: multiparameter flow cytometry, qPCR, cell-culture work, microbiological work, Western blot analysis, single cell RNA-sequencing, handling large data sets using R and similar programs.

The current project focuses on signalling dynamics that potentially defines specific endothelial cell behaviours underlying vascular pattering and malformation. The study includes aspects of fluid-shear forces, inflammation and ligand-mediated responses in human genetic disease and genetic mouse models thereof. Consequences of vascular pathology for neuronal function will be investigated.
