Special emphasis will be paid to low latency, resilient frameworks for machine learning (including distributed and federated learning). Examples of other services to be built include advanced highly streamlined server software, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) chains at the true speed of the underlying hardware, intra datacenter load balancing, agile and efficient geo-distributed data storage systems that meet their Service Level Objectives.

We look for up to two postdocs to join the Division of Robotics, Perception and Learning, focusing on safe autonomy. The job will entail:research, development and evaluation of autonomous task planning, motion planning, or control algorithms for mobile robotscollaboration with other researchers on research, integration and experimentsYou will be encouraged but not required to teach master-level and PhD-level classes in safe autonomy, planning, and control, as well as supervise master students.

The position as postdoc aims at conducting research in applied mathematics with emphasis on methods for signal processing, statistical inference and machine learning. The overall aim of the project is the create an artificial intelligence that interacts with the nerve system to autonomously monitor and treat inflammation. This involves development of advanced methods in machine learning and statistical inference based on stochastic processes, signal processing, functional- and harmonic analysis to identify inflammation by analysis of electric neural activity related to inflammatory cytokines. The research includes mathematical development and analysis of models and methods for data analysis as well as practical implementation and analysis of data from clinical studies.

The Cluster and MMS satellites enable multi-point measurements of space physics phenomena close to Earth. In this project, analysis will be performed of the non-linear phenomenon of SLAMS (Short Large-Amplitude Magnetic Structures) close to Earth’s bow shock. SLAMS may be important for the formation of the near-earth space environment. However, many of the properties of SLAMS are not well known, and more research is needed. With multi-point measurements, we can e.g. investigate growth and propagation of SLAMS, and their role in particle acceleration. SLAMS are also important for the dynamics and structure of the bow shock, and the investigation will contribute to an increased understanding of bow shock physics.

The postdoctoral research position is within the Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits and Systems group at EECS/EES. The group performs research on the development of high-performance, low-power ASICs and system solutions for various applications that range from biomedical and wireless communication to emerging technologies, such as M3D, SiC, spintronics and non-conventional computing. We envision a mobile cyber-physical system where people carrying mobile sensors (e.g., smartphones, smartcards) generate large amounts of trajectory data that is used to sense and monitor human interactions with physical and social environments. We seek to develop a causal artificial intelligence (AI) methodology to analyze and model human mobility behavior dynamics (decision-making) using individual travel trajectory data, and importantly develop the causal diagrams of human mobility behavior under disturbances that could help design effective strategies for sustainable and resilient urban mobility systems.

The division of Biomedical Imaging within the department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems conducts research on tomographic image reconstruction. One of the topic of interest is the simultaneous reconstruction of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) images and patient motion during the PET data acquisition, with the goal of increasing the diagnostic power of PET imaging for lung cancer at an early stage. We have now developed a theoretical framework for the above and have an established collaboration with clinical partners at KI/KS Huddinge that will secure access to clinical data

The tasks are mainly the processing of a number of selected wood-based highly viscous materials. The focus is thermoplasticity and how the term should be used for highly viscous materials, a work that is intended to lead to a standardized method for determining thermoplasticity of materials intended for lowflow processing methods. This position is part of a two-year project where the first year is the employment at KTH Stockholm and the second year at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg. 

We are offering postdoc positions in the area regulation and engineering of carbon fixation in photosynthetic microbes. Current research program involves projects in sequence-driven mutagenesis of enzymes and regulators, screening of mutant pools using novel cultivation and sorting platforms, and characterization of mutant strains using proteomics and metabolomics infrastructure. The postdoc(s) will work closely with, and advise, graduate students. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research program, postdocs with experience in any of these areas are welcome to apply.

In this postdoctoral position, you will conduct research in the development of new methods for balancing unstable hydrofoil boats based on a new monofoil concept for hydrofoils developed in the research at KTH. The challenges lie in optimizing the use of available sensors and applying creative new solutions using e.g. MPC, LQR and AI for maximum robustness and performance in stabilization. The research is closely related to the development of control strategies for unstable aircraft and spans areas such as theoretical modeling, development of new algorithms, implementation in simulators as well as on own boats with full-scale testing at sea.

The main work task will be to perform independent research on the topic of contemporary regional development planning in Sweden and internationally. A particular focus will be on investigating established as well as innovative practices for implementing and following up on regional development plans.

The tasks associated with the position include gene cloning, production and purification of recombinant proteins, assays of enzyme activity and stability, and protein sequencing by mass spectrometry. You are expected to (i) independently develop and analyze research at a high qualitative level, (ii) communicate the research results to the research group and a wider audience, (iii) be responsible for a few related projects in parallel and supervise the lab’s master students. The project also involves collaboration with different research partners in Sweden and abroad. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the collaborative writing of those high-impact papers that summarize the results achieved.

The research group Power System Planning and Electricity Markets at KTH is participating in several national and international research projects which aim to design the carbon dioxide-free power and energy system of the the future. To study these issues it is necessary to have energy system models that can mange large and complex systems. An example of such a model is Spine, which has been developed in an EU project, where KTH has participated. Spine is an open-source software, which can be used for simulating a wide range of energy systems.

This project aims to combine polymer chemistry, mesoporous structuring, and nanotechnology to meet the immediate and global need for bio-based material systems for better water quality. Objectives: 1) From algal polysaccharides and their surface-functionalized adducts synthesize affinity materials that can reversibly adsorb pollutants, and to investigate such materials for use in water remediation, 2) Enabling and exploring regeneration of developed polysaccharide materials, and 3) In-depth understanding on structural and chemical relationships that affects the performance of the materials.

The radionuclides 79Se, 93Mo and 99Tc will be present in the Final Repository for Short-lived Radioactive Waste (SFR) in Sweden. The main barrier material in SFR is concrete and to assess the mobility of Se, Tc and Mo in repository environments (for an assessment of post-closure safety) it is important to be able to quantify and understand their sorption to cement. This project concerns studying the sorption of Se, Tc and Mo onto cement and simpler model materials with the aim to collect data for modelling the  mobility of Se, Tc and Mo in repository environments and to develop an increased fundamental understanding of the sorption process. The work includes the design and experimental study of simple model systems as well as more applied studies. The postdoctoral researcher should have extensive experience in laboratory work. Complementary computational studies will be performed in parallel by another researcher. The postdoc is expected to be able to work both independently and together with colleagues at KTH and at other universities.

We are working to create cluster states in the microwave frequency band (4-8 GHz) by synchronous pumping of a nonlinear superconducting circuit at multiple frequencies.  In theory, cluster states can be used for quantum information processing in a one-way quantum computer.  Our goal is to demonstrate this in an experiment. Your work will primarily be at KTH in group of Prof. David Haviland, but the research project is a collaboration with Aalto University in Helsinki Finland, and part of you time will be spent in the group of Prof. Pertti Hakonen.

We now have the opportunity to expand our research group with one PostDoctoral researcher for a two-year position within the area of Biomedical fluid mechanics. The role involves carrying out blood flow simulations, methodology development and data analysis to investigate flow in components of the extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) circuit, especially the membrane lung. The project is highly cross-disciplinary and part of an EU-project lead by Klinkum Nurnberg, Germany and financed by the European Innovation Council (EIC). The Project will be carried out in close collaboration with other research group members as well as with the EIC project members.

We now have the opportunity to expand our research group with one PostDoctoral researcher for a two-year position within the area of Biomedical fluid mechanics. The role involves carrying out fluid mechanical experimental work and data analysis with the purpose of understanding the cause and effect of clot formation and bleeding events associated with artificial blood pumps and cannulae. Such devices are used in life-supporting treatments like extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and hemodialysis. The project’s research questions are closely linked to clinical applications and will be carried out in close collaboration with other research group members (cross-disciplinary engineering and medicine) as well as with other national and international collaborators.
