We are offering a two-year postdoc position in cutaneous drug delivery commencing January 1st 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project will be carried out within the LEO Foundation Center for Cutaneous Drug Delivery, which integrates several disciplines, including physical chemistry, pharmaceutics, and molecular biology, to perform state-of-the-art research and to create innovative solutions within cutaneous drug delivery of both small and large molecules. The successful applicant will have the opportunity for cross-disciplinary research in collaboration with other researchers in the Center, as well as with external collaborators.

We are looking for a highly motivated computational postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The position is to be filled from 1 January 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The job consists of research within modeling of pig diseases with the main focus on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS). The PostDoc will be part of the Section of Animal Welfare and Disease Control (AWD). The PostDoc will bear primary responsibility for programming the stochastic and spatio-temporal simulation spread model for pig diseases, in particular PRRS, although assistance and guidance will be available from supervisors.

The position is part of the Datafied Living research project which runs 2021-2025 and is funded by the ERC (datafiedliving.ku.dk). The candidate’s research activities will advance the aims of the Datafied Living project regarding empirical studies of how digital tracking and datafication affects work practices and decision-making in key welfare institutions (such as education and healthcare); and how citizen-state relations might change in datafied society.

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Jan Żylicz at reNEW. The team studies fundamental mechanisms of early mammalian development and stem cell biology. The Żylicz group wants to understand how metabolic and epigenetic mechanisms cooperate to regulate transcription during early development. In particular the team is interested in how metabolism regulates histone modifiers, and how these in turn affect lineage choice and embryo growth at around the time of implantation. To achieve this, the group utilizes both in vivo mouse models as well as in vitro human stem cell culture systems and state-of the-art ultrasensitive transcriptomic, epigenomic and metabolomic techniques. This project will combine these methods with biochemical and mechanistic analysis in human 2D and 3D stem cell models. Starting date for this position is the 1 January 2023, or upon agreement with the chosen candidate.

Two postdoc positions (2 years each) are available in the group of Professor Anders Krogh (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=-vGMjmwAAAAJ). The group focusses on development of deep generative models, quantum machine learning, and applications to medical data. We are seeking people to do research on one or more of these topics:

1. Quantum machine learning for biological applications. We are seeking people that can develop quantum algorithms for generative neural networks together with our theoretical and experimental collaborators in math and physics.
2. Development of deep generative neural networks. We are seeking people with a good theoretical background, who can also work on implementations and applications.
3. Applications of generative models to medical data such as gene expression data and clinical data. Part of this work is in the EU project GenomeMed4ALL.

The Center for Quantum Devices at the Niels Bohr Institut, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen is seeking one or more postdoctoral fellows to investigate 1D and 2D arrays of semiconductor-superconductor Josephson junctions formed in a variety of lattices to explore novel states and dynamics, including topological matter and flat bands, starting from 1 December 2022 as soon as possible thereafter.

Research projects range from charge detection of Majorana modes, realization and manipulation of Majorana states in artificial Kitaev chains, phase-controlled topological states, and anyons in fractional quantum Hall effect. We are looking for an exceptionally motivated postod to elucidate the effects of short promoter-proximal RNAs (sppRNAs). sppRNAs are non-coding RNA isoforms of mRNAs that we hypothesize contribute to transcriptional induction and robustness. The project operates at the interface between the research areas of: epigenetics, RNA biology, RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription and genomics. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for a project addressing the generation and functions of theta oscillations in spatial navigation using systems neuroscience and population-level approaches. The research will take place at the Department of Neuroscience (in.ku.dk) at University of Copenhagen in the lab of Dr. Peter C. Petersen (PetersenLab.org).

The postdoc is part of the research project “Divergent Views of Diaspora in Ancient Judaism” (2022-2026), funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark and its Sapere Aude programme. Applying newly developed theory from Diaspora Studies, the project investigates the earliest stage of the Jewish diaspora (597-331 BCE). A great variety of imaginative reflections in biblical texts and basic information in historical records suggests that there were a number of different attitudes to living abroad.

We seek an enthusiastic, creative individual with a strong background in (ancient) phylogenetics and population genomics methods, evolutionary biology, or associated disciplines. You will join our research group in the context of PROSPER, an ERC Starting Grant project aimed at developing new analytical approaches to unravel the phyloproteomic relationships between several Middle and Late Pleistocene hominin populations. As part of PROSPER, your tasks will be conducting  phylogenetic analysis of fauna and hominin proteomic datasets generated by the project, including the integration of genetic datasets of modern and ancient hominins into our analysis pipelines. The research will be conducted in an international, highly diverse research environment, involving collaborators and partners from various continents and scientific backgrounds.

The TMT project investigates questions of facts and truths in political debate and focuses primarily on the practice and role of journalistic fact-checkers. The project understands the establishment of facts as a fundamentally rhetorical practice where people argue for and try to gain support for their way of understanding and conveying the truth. Moreover, the project highlights that this happens in a world where traditional authorities and institutions are severely challenged, while, at the same time, the rise of the internet, social media, algorithms, AI, and machine learning are fundamentally reshaping media and politics, making it possible for new types of actors to gain power in a hybrid media system. In this, fact-checkers unquestionably play a central role, but – as the TMT project argues – not as objective truth-tellers, but as an integrated part of the argumentative process over truth.

The positions will be affiliated with a new Center of Excellence on Global Mobility Law (MOBILE) at the Faculty of Law, funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. The Center aims to undertake the first comprehensive study of laws pertaining to human mobility as an emerging and societally important field. To this end, MOBILE pioneers a novel approach, focused on legal infrastructure and entanglement theory, to empirically study the complex interactions of diverse legal regimes impacting human mobility, as well as the interfaces between regional mobility law frameworks in both the Global South and North. MOBILE’s mission is to provide novel and broadly applicable insights into how different types of law interact, how legal outcomes are produced, and the intended and unintended effects of their enforcement in shaping specific mobility patterns. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 3-year position in phage-guided discovery of novel antibacterial targets commencing on 1 January 2023 or as soon as possible hereafter. The post doc will have a major role in discovering novel antimicrobial targets by identifying novel phage-bacterial interactions as a part of the project DISCOVER funded by The Independent Research fund Denmark. 

This is a unique opportunity to join a research team that will conduct a large-scale study to explain when and how young people, aged 16-25, produce and share extreme meme content. This type of hatefull contend provides a nexus for a lot of online social interactions as it can include many layers of meaning. Memes are produced and spread cross-platforms in an ecosystem where sites differ based on socio-technical composition, and how risks and rewards in posting extreme content vary in accordance to group structure. The post-doc will have a central role in both data collection and analysis. The team is located in a family-friendly work environment at the Department of Sociology, University of Copenhagen, and work collaborative in a lab consistent of a PhD and student assistants.

The postdoc will contribute to the research project How to be happy in times of turmoil? The re-discovery of Danish philosopher Birgitte Thott (1610-1662) and her neo-stoic treatise Om Weyen till et Lycksalligt Liff (c. 1659). The postdoc’s task will be to collaborate with the PI in the production of a critical edition of Thott’s treatise.  The critical edition will include an introduction to the work, an English translation of Thott’s treatise, and a scholarly commentary. The project is located in the Section for Philosophy.  The postdoc will be affiliated with the History of Philosophy Research Group in the Section for Philosophy and the interdisciplinary research group Thinking the European Republic of Letters in the Centre for Modern European Studies (CEMES).
