To gain maximum benefit from the research surroundings, the applicant‘s research interests should fit into the scope of the departments‘ focus on mechanisms of psychotic symptom formation and maintenance and their translation into novel interventions. The infrastructure for both basic and intervention research for patients with psychotic disorders is available. The applicant will be expected to teach within the clinical Bachelor and Master of Sciences Programs with 2 LVS, which is equivalent to 2 seminars, lectures, or colloquia within each term.

The overall mission of the Research Training Group 2530 (RTG 2530) is to fill existing knowledge gaps on biota-mediated effects on estuarine C cycling under current conditions and with respect to global change scenarios. Embedded into the inspiring academic environment of Universität Hamburg, RTG 2530 provides Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers an outstanding platform for their career development. The RTG has been established by an interdisciplinary group of 15 Principal Researchers with scientific backgrounds ranging from terrestrial and marine ecology, via geoscience to microbiology and molecular plant and animal biology. The tasks within the project include the computation of higher order QCD corrections to collider observabales and operator anomalous dimensions as well as phenomenology applications with an eye on the Large Hadron Collider LHC and the forth-coming Electron Ion Collider EIC.

The research topics include the synthesis and characterization of novel colloidal nanoparticles (magnetic, plasmonic, or photoluminescent) and/or their assembly into microscopic and macroscopic functional superstructures. As an example of microscopic superstructures, multifunctional magnetic or optical objects in solution can be mentioned, with applications in nanobiomedicine, for instance. Examples of macroscopic superstructures are optically active new aerogel materials with potential applications in photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and sensing. Studying structure-property relationships using modern analytical techniques (such as optical spectroscopy, electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, porosimetry, magnetometry, and electron microscopy) on the new materials provides insights into the connection between nano- and microstructure and the resulting material properties.

Duties consist solely of independent or supervised teaching. Teaching obligations are determined in accordance with current state regulations (Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung, LVVO). The LVVO permits the Office of the Dean to redefine the teaching obligation. Teaching duties currently comprise 16 teaching hours per semester.

The two-year position is funded for research with the large-size telescopes (LSTs) of the Cherenkov telescope array (CTA). Our group is contributing to the commissioning and operation of the LSTs at the observatory of La Palma, Spain. The successful candidate will participate in the data-taking and calibration of the absolute pointing of the telescopes. We are going to explore the possibilities to use observations at ultra-large zenith angles to extend the accessible energy range from 100 TeV to PeV energies.

The applicant will work to optimize seasonal predictions of coastal hazards for the German Bight so that the predicted information can be easily used by decision makers on the coast. A particular focus of the successful applicant’s work will be on building impact-focused analysis and post-processing techniques for seasonal forecast information, in close collaboration with the users of such information. Potential use cases include coastal storms or storm surges. Tailoring these predictions to the users‘ needs includes running dedicated ensemble simulations with the MPI-ESM based seasonal prediction system, conditioning the predictions on physical boundary conditions, and engaging in user dialogue to find relevant parameters to predict. The successful applicant with a strong background in climate modelling and geophysical fluid dynamics will work in the research groups ‘Climate Modelling’ and ‘Climate Extremes’ at Universität Hamburg.

The activity includes the scientific collaboration in the third party funded project “SOVEREIGN: Technologisch souveräne Security-Monitoring- und Cyber-Defense-Plattform für kritische und komplexe Infrastrukturen“ (technological sovereign security monitoring and cyber defense platform for critical and complex infrastructures). The focus is on the development of a collaborative and privacy-friendly platform for the detection and defense of attacks on critical and complex infrastructures. Together with other project partners, this platform will be designed, implemented, analyzed, and evaluated. In addition, the position holder will continuously contribute to the publication and presentation of research and project results. As a research-intensive department, our research results are also directly incorporated into teaching.

REPO4EU’s ultimate goal is to host and grow a EU industry-level online platform for validated precision drug repurposing with a global reach. This platform will operate as a data hub for key information, training resources, matchmaking and collaboration in drug repurposing. The project is funded by the European Union under grant agreement No. 101057619 and started on 1st September 2022. Within five years, REPO4EU will establish a first in class coherent and innovative web-based platform for safe and efficient drug repurposing for all types of high unmet medical need indications to all European researchers and SMEs with a unique Open Science concept, ensuring global medical impact. Finally, within a two-year interphase, REPO4EU aims to be converted into a sustainable European infrastructure. The project’s consortium – 28 participating institutions, including Universität Hamburg, from ten countries – offers a world-class mix of applied bioinformatics, innovative diagnostics, curative drug therapies, expertise in repurposed drug patenting, freedom to operate, business development, health technology assessment and multiple options for value creation through licensing and spin-offs.

The core responsibility of the research associate is to pursue an independent research project in the field of Assyriology that fits the overall comparative research profile of the Cluster of Excellence “Understanding Written Artefacts”, and to contribute to the collaborative research activities of the Cluster. Applicants are free to suggest their own research within Assyriology but must demonstrate connections to ongoing research within the Cluster. As a central institution of the University of Hamburg, the House of Computing and Data Science (HCDS) supports interdisciplinary research and application of innovative digital methods in close cooperation with its partners from science and research in the Hamburg metropolitan region. It coordinates and supports the implementation of the digital strategy in research at the University of Hamburg. Located in the Science City Bahrenfeld and at various other locations in Hamburg, it fuels the easy adoption, usage and research of digital methods in its Methodology Competence Center and offers to various disciplines and projects a forum for the exchange of information and collaboration at the interface between methodological sciences and applied sciences in the Cross-Disciplinary Labs. The HCDS also coordinates the network “KIEZ of Computing and Data Science” for networking regarding digital transformation in research in the Hamburg metropolitan region.

The candidate will help developing understanding of chemical reactions leading to formation of photoactive materials. This will involve studying the short and long-range ordering preceeding the emergence of nanostructures in solution and structure-function relation of materials. The focus will be on identifying the relevant time scales and develop new experimental protocols. The candidates will perform, either independently, or in the collaboration with the group members, LUCENT II project members and international collaborators, X-ray synchrotron experiments and analyse the data.
