Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow (Senior CogStack Developer)

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at King’s College London to work with Professor Steven Gilmour, Dr Kalliopi Mylona, Dr Davide Pigoli and Dr Vasiliki Koutra on a project entitled Multi-objective optimal design of experiments, a major research grant funded by the EPSRC ( https://gow.epsrc.ukri.org/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/T021624/1). The successful candidate will conduct research on the design of experiments with functional responses and/or predictors.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Assistant Stem Cell INTERNAL ONLY
Subsequently, the generated brain organoids will be characterised using a series of functional, cellular and molecular approaches. In collaboration with researchers at the University of Exeter, you will also be involved in generating a comprehensive genomic profiling of brain organoids and their comparison with matched post-mortem tissue. Research will focus specifically, but not exclusively, on growing and characterising brain organoids from multiple hiPSC lines. You will be expected to carry out routine experiments required for these studies, including (but not limited to) grow and manipulate hiPSC and brain organoids using aseptic techniques; and techniques, including immunocytochemistry, microscopy, biochemistry and molecular biology. You will also be required to be able to maintain a high level of detailed records, stocks and inventory of hiPSCs and organoids and will also be expected to work with researchers within the group, including PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. Experience of working with hiPSCs/stem cells is essential.

We are seeking a high-quality Grade 6, Post-doctoral Research Associate to contribute to the interdisciplinary research undertaken by the Gautel, and Zelezniak groups at KCL and the Fraternali group at UCL. We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist to join our collaborative multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be working towards developing an organoid perfusion bioreactor to enable the study of microvascular perfusion, a functional parameter critical for microangiopathy progression. Based on the flow patterns and structural characteristics of a dysfunctional microvasculature, the post holder will generate a ‘digital twin’ model of vascular leakage.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Skin Biomarker Research Fellow
We are seeking a motivated research associate to help develop a new, needle-free prototype medical device. The innovative concept in the device is its use of hypobaric pressure to stretch the skin tissue in a manner that allows biomarker extraction. The initial development will occur using healthy adults as the test subjects and the device will pass through four developmental prototyping phases to optimise its ability to extract biomarkers. The types and levels of biomarkers extracted from the skin will be determined using mass spectrometry and electrochemical detection and these chemical signals will be compared to those in the blood. With the aid of a novel integrated mathematical model of skin stretching developed by the University of Surrey (project partners), the new medical device will be specifically adapted and scaled for use in a parallel clinical study conducted by a clinical team in babies.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Clinical Research Fellow
The exciting new positions where the successful two candidates will have the opportunity to work as part of an internationally leading team of researchers investigating cannabinoid-based treatments for neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders and play a key role in a new line of research investigating the safety, efficacy and mechanism of action of a novel cannabinoid-based pharmacological treatment for Parkinson’s disease psychosis. As part of this role, the appointed person will be directly involved in a multi-centre Parkinson’s UK funded randomised clinical trial to evaluate this new pharmacological treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease and Psychosis. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Associate
We are now seeking to appoint a motivated Post-doctoral Researcher to support the SUSTAIN project, a project exploring the barriers and facilitators for female veterans in making a successful transition out of the UK Armed Forces into civilian life. This project will involve a literature review including interviews with key stakeholders in veteran care and policy, interviews with female veterans and quantitative data analysis to compare key outcomes between female veterans, their male counterparts and civilians.

The successful candidate will work closely with the team to manage the delivery of MedTech evaluation projects and undertake business development and client relationship activities in support of these activities, particularly in the area of AI enabled devices. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Assessing the Effectiveness of Wildfire Protection Strategies
Working with Professor David Demeritt and other members of the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society, the postholder will develop a data mining strategy to build a database of wildfire protection strategies developed by local governments in the United States under the 2003 Healthy Forests Restoration Act. The postholder will use that database to assess develop statistical models to assess the efficacy of different wildfire protection measures at reducing losses.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral Research Associate role in the group of Dr. George Booth within the Theory and Simulation of Condensed Matter group. The successful applicant will be developing and applying cutting edge wavefunction-based techniques for both molecular and materials first principles modelling and building on developments from an exciting machine-learning perspective. The main physics goal of the SNO+ experiment, located in SNOLAB, Ontario, Canada, is to search for the neutrino-less double beta decay of 130Tellurium but the low background, low energy threshold liquid scintillator detector allows many other physics analyses including reactor anti-neutrinos, solar neutrinos, and super-nova burst detection. The successful candidate will be supported to take a leading role in the mainstream SNO+ physics analyses, with specific responsibilities for components of the optical calibration, detector modelling and background characterisations. They will also support detector operations towards loading Tellurium into the detector.

This project aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which extracellular mechanical forces travel long distances inside the cell to reach the nucleus on biologically-relevant timescales, and how mechanical forces activate force-induced transcriptional programmes. The project can be attacked from different perspectives (single molecule, single cell, or tissue level) but in all cases requires extensive experience in the relevant mechanical techniques, according to each relevant length-scale.
