Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate at the Policy Institute at King’s
We are seeking a Research Associate to join the Experimental Government Team (XGT), within the Policy Institute. The Policy Institute addresses complex policy and practice challenges with rigorous research, academic expertise and analysis focused on improving outcomes. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Edge AI
Applications are invited for a position as Research Associate in Edge AI for 6G Wireless Networks and at King’s College London. The position is full-time and fixed term for 30 months (2.5 years).The post is due to start in the first quarter of 2023. The role will be part of a 6 million euros Horizon Europe project on “AI-powered Evolution Towards Open and Secure Edge Architectures” (VERGE). This is a joint project with academic partners, including UPC, CTTC, the university of Oulu, BSC-CNS, and industrial partners, including Ericsson, Samsung UK, Intel, Turkcell, Nearby Computing, Thales, Hiro, Arcelik, and Holo-light.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Nanoparticle Synthesis
The successful candidates must have experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials, either quantum dots or conjugated polymers for biological applications. The position is part of a larger research project with the University of Hull and Imperial College London, where the researcher will provide materials for our collaborators who will then utilise the materials in cancer imaging. We are looking for researchers who can function as part of a team, and with the ability to synthesise high-quality materials through an iterative process with the larger research group.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Software Security
This Research Associate / Fellow position in software security will work to enhance web browser security by utilising CHERI compartmentalisation techniques. The aim of this work is to show how a real world web browser such as Chrome can take advantage of the CHERI security model. Web browsers are systemically important but present a large attack surface due to their scale and complexity: they are a magnet for attackers, with frequent published attacks. Chrome already splits itself into processes but we want to explore how to take that further with more fine-grained compartments: what are the trade-offs in doing so? Using CHERI will make intra-compartment communication much faster, so how can we take advantage of this when considering where to put compartment boundaries?
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Human-centred Security in AI Assistants
There is an unprecedented integration of AI assistants into everyday life, from the personal AI assistants running in our smart phones and homes, to enterprise AI assistants for increased productivity at the workplace, to health AI assistants. Only in the UK, 7M users interact with AI assistants every day, and 13M on a weekly basis. A crucial issue is how secure AI assistants are, as they make extensive use of AI and learn continually. Also, AI assistants are complex systems with different AI models interacting with each other and with the various stakeholders and the wider ecosystem in which AI assistants are embedded. Beyond the technical complexities, users of AI assistants are known to have mental models that are highly incomplete and they do not know how to protect themselves.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Genomics: Depression Genetics in Africa
This is a 3 year postdoctoral position that will lead data collection pipelines and statistical genetics analyses aiming to generate new hypotheses of psychiatric disorder aetiology and treatment in African populations. The post would be expected to spend between 1/3rd to ½ of each year at Addis Ababa University. You will have the opportunity to grow in the position and lead your research also. The postholder will also work with collaborators and with consortia in which we are members, in particular from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium MDD group. The postholder ideally will already have experience in psychiatric or behavioural genetics or have a keen interest in mental health or behaviour.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
We are seeking an experienced postdocs to join our team to work emergence and plasticity of GABAergic synapses in the mouse brain. The candidate should have prior knowledge of neuroscience and expertise with in vivo imaging using multi-photon microscopy. Specifically, the project will involve the delivery of genetically-encoded probes and modulators of activity in developing neurons to study how activity modifies synaptogenesis and pruning of cortical interneuron synapses.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Team Care
Based in St Thomas campus and working with Dr Rebecca Lynch (a medical anthropologist at the University of Exeter), the post holder will lead the day-to-day management of the qualitative study. This will include arranging, conducting, and leading on the analysis of, semi-structured interviews and will provide an opportunity to explore how, and to what extent, novel technologies may become part of everyday care practices. In addition to developing publications and other outputs, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring key milestones for this element of the project are met and will represent the qualitative team in meetings and giving presentations. The qualitative work package is embedded within a larger randomised control trial and the post holder will be expected to contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and outputs, such as the project report and collaborative papers.

The Centre for Society and Mental Health aims to ensure that the impact of social contexts is central to how we understand mental health, working in partnership with affected communities and group. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate at the NIHR Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with an emerging record in social care research to join a team of researchers working in South London as part of the NIHR funded Applied Research Collaboration, with an opportunity to directly influence social care systems and practice. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Social Anthropology
The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King’s College London is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in Social Anthropology starting on 1 February 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is open to applicants with expertise in the anthropology of China. Applicants should have a strong command of Mandarin Chinese. The successful applicant will join a creative, forward-looking project team. ‘Cosmological Visionaries: Shamans, Scientists, and Climate Change at the Ethnic Borderlands of China and Russia’, is a European Research Council funded project led full-time by Dr Katherine Swancutt in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies. It is a six-year project, and the successful applicant will focus on animistic religion and climate change in Southwest China. Dr Swancutt is leading the China Team on this ERC Synergy Grant project, which is being conducted in collaboration with the Russia Team for the project based at the University of Manchester.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Health Economics
We are seeking an excellent researcher keen to help improve the efficiency of delivering health services for stroke patients and contribute to methodological development of efficiency analysis. The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary team on the NIHR funded programme, ‘Improving the lives of stroke survivors with data’. The programme aims to improve the lives of stroke survivors by improved use of data, and is strongly multi-disciplinary, including collaboration with statisticians, epidemiologists, social scientists, health economists, policy makers, and stroke survivors and their carers. We aim to improve patient care by allowing effective planning of services, personalised care, and reducing inequalities in access to care and outcomes after stroke. The post holder will have expertise in health economics and lead and contribute to these aspects in the Programme.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Nanoparticle Development and Applications
We seek a motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our international and diverse Catalytic Plasmonic team ( www.cplas.org) at King’s College London. We are looking for a curious and self-driven experimentalist with a strong background in physics and/or chemistry and applications of colloidal nanoparticles. The Catalytic Plasmonics project aims to explore chemical processes at the interface with plasmonic nanostructures and develop improved photochemical processes for a range of environmental and technological challenges. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development of the synthesis and characterisation of colloidal plasmonic and hybrid nanoparticles, and their applications in photochemistry.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
The postdoc appointed on this grant will work as part of a team and they will be involved in a Phase 1 clinical trial in children receiving heart transplant. The postdoc will be in charge of purifying and expanding regulatory T cells (Tregs) directly from thymus-samples first in the laboratory and then the protocol will be moved to the GMP facility. During the first few months there will be an opportunity for the postdoc to investigate the phenotype and function of Treg subpopulations in the thymus (very little is known in the human) and then the postdoc will move to the GMP facility to be trained and then generate 9 autologous Treg products, once the trial will receive MHRA approval.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow (Principal Trial Statistician)
The post holder will work with internationally renowned King’s College London clinicians and scientists to evaluate novel interventions and medications in psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Assistant/ Research Associate in Epidemiology/Biostatistics
We wish to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Associate who will be a member of the Stroke Research Group within the School of Life Course and Population Sciences, whose work will focus on the South London Stroke Register (SLSR). The SLSR is one of the largest and longest running registries of stroke patients internationally, with >7000 patients registered since 1995. The successful candidate will be the lead analyst for a series of innovative projects in stroke epidemiology for a new NIHR funded programme aimed at improving the care of stroke patients, based on the SLSR and related datasets (Oxford Vascular Study, Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme).
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Perinatal and Child Health
As part of our recently funded PISA study (Prenatal Drivers of Infant Islet Autoimmunity), we are looking to recruit a research associate skilled in data linkage, programming in R, and statistics analysis. The post holder will link and analyse data captured from mothers whose child has developed T1D (< 5 years old) to determine prenatal risk factors for the disease. Additionally, this post will support other associated linkage and analysis of biological data generated through the main study PISA study. The postholder will be expected to present data at research conferences and contribute to publication of peer-reviewed papers.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral Research Associate role in the group of Dr Evgeny Kozik at King’s College London with a start date from 1st April 2023. The successful applicant will join a collaboration with the experiment group led by Dr Clifford Hicks (Birmingham) and the theory group of Prof Joseph Betouras (Loughborough) focused on understanding and controlling mechanisms of unconventional superconductivity. We are looking for candidates with a background in development and application of advanced computational approaches to correlated electrons, as well as strong programming skills. Experience with diagrammatic Monte Carlo methods and studies of superconductivity or closely related problems is desired.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Deep Learning for Perinatal Image Analysis
This project aims to combine the power of deep learning with a physics-based interpretation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging data to measure electrical properties of brain tissue in the developing brain – a property that is as-yet largely unexplored. We will explore this using a large body of MRI data collected from neonates and fetuses, with the aim of opening a new window into understanding human brain development. We seek a motivated post-doctoral research associate to work with us to develop deep learning solutions for inference of electrical properties from MRI data. Successful candidates should have background with deep learning and medical image analysis; experience with medical imaging (preferably MRI) is desirable but not essential.

The Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TPPC) group of the Department of Physics at King’s College London invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral research positions, as part of a Leverhulme Trust funded project to investigate “Topology from Cosmology: axions, astrophysics and machine learning”. This is an exciting new position where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of an internationally leading team of researchers investigating cannabinoid-based treatments for neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders and play a key role in a new line of research investigating the safety, efficacy and mechanism of action of a novel cannabinoid-based pharmacological treatment for Parkinson’s disease psychosis. The Peter Gorer department of Immunobiology seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Scientist to work with Prof. Mona Bafadhel on the immunology of respiratory disease, with a key interest in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The post holder will be a key member of Professor Bafadhel’s respiratory research group using their technical and scientific knowledge to contribute to the investigation of the role of microbes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung disease. This project will seek to develop an integrated arrhythmia substrate analysis framework for imaging data in a novel application to metric estimation. The focus will be on analysing cardiac imaging to generate cardiac digital twins and apply computational methods to study the vulnerability of the digital twin to simulate and sustain arrhythmias. King’s College London (informally King’s or KCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom, and a founding college and member institution of the federal University of London. King’s was established in 1829 by King George IV and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, when it received its first royal charter (as a university college), and is one of the oldest universities in England.
