Join a project at the intersection of the developmental cell biology of the oncogene RAS and drug target validation in the Cancer Cell Biology group under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Abankwa. The Cancer Cell Biology and Drug Discovery group aims at targeting the RAS pathway in cancer and developmental diseases called RASopathies.

You will employ and have experience with a broad spectrum of techniques, to investigate cellular trafficking and activity of RAS pathway proteins in cells, including confocal-/ super-resolution microscopy, interaction studies (complementation, BRET and FRET), protein-biochemistry (SPR, polarization) and molecular cell biology (Gateway cloning, Gibson assembly, CRISPR/Cas9 etc).

The Medical Team of the faculty is in a constant development. Our research initiative, in collaboration with clinical partners, is thriving as we explore the effects of fasting and caloric restriction on chronic conditions, including Long Covid and neurodegenerative diseases. The department also closely cooperates with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), an interdisciplinary centre of the University of Luxembourg, combining experimental, medical and computational approaches to analyze complex biological systems and disease processes.

The candidate will lead the development of a V&V framework for AI-augmented perception systems and will be responsible for activities in the Zero-G Lab and contributing to the Black-Hole Lab at Redwire Space Luxembourg for Hardware in the loop emulation of on-orbit scenarios.

The candidate will join the Security, Reasoning and Validation (Serval) research group and work on a research project related to the application of machine learning for official statistics. The subjects of the research are: AI-assisted Bond Issuance, Causal Methods for Enhanced Market Intelligence, Automated Market Research Summaries via RAG-enabled AI.

The successful candidate will extensively explore and analyse the suitability and potential benefits of new-generation AI (in particular Large Language Models and Agentic AI systems) in these tasks. These investigations include the feasibility, practicality and success evaluation of prototype implementations. 

• Generate and maintain human iPSC lines and differentiate them into neurons and astrocytes
• Design and execute assays of intermediary metabolism (LC/GC methods; 13C tracing) and assess mitochondrial/cellular function using advanced imaging and molecular biology (incl. RNA‑seq workflows)
• Develop and apply ODE models of mitochondrial metabolism and astrocyte–neuron coupling to interpret experiments and propose testable predictions
• Integrate multi‑omics and imaging readouts with modelling; perform rigorous statistical analysis and ensure reproducible workflows (well‑documented code/analysis)

The successful candidate will join the SIGCOM Research Group and contribute to AI-related projects at the intersection of advanced AI techniques – including Foundation Models/ Large Language Models, Generative AI, Federated and Decentralized Learning, Neurosymbolic and Hybrid AI, Self-Supervised and Few-Shot Learning – and their integration into wireless communications and edge computing systems. Our collaborative group, composed of the MDM group at the University of Luxembourg, led by Prof. Letellier and the laboratory of Prof. Tejpar at the KU Leuven, investigates stromal–epithelial crosstalk in colorectal cancer initiation, progression and therapy resistance. Using state-of-the-art single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) and spatial transcriptomics on CRC patient samples, we have identified novel epithelial cell states and distinct cancer-associated fibroblast subpopulations.

The primary research focus will be to define how fibroblasts from healthy colon tissue transition into distinct CAF subtypes and how these subtypes regulate epithelial plasticity and immune responses, promoting tumor progression and therapy resistance. This work will integrate spatial transcriptomics, advanced co-culture organoid assays, and in vivo models to decode the mechanisms underlying CAF-driven CRC evolution. Access to single cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics data from active clinical trials through the group of Prof Tejpar will put the postdoc in an ideal position to understand how the stromal interactions change under current novel treatments and could be harnessed as future therapies.

The postdoctoral fellow will work jointly between the University of Luxembourg and the KU Leuven, benefiting from a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, and contributing to the TARGET-SEC project’s overarching goal of identifying novel therapeutic strategies targeting pro-tumorigenic stroma–epithelial interactions in CRC.

You will be the scientific liaison for a team developing secure and FAIR-compliant data platforms for storing, managing, and sharing clinical data from neurodegenerative disease cohorts. You will be responsible for:
