The NUS Centre for International Law (CIL) is accepting applications for Research Associate for its Energy Law and Policy Programme (ELP).  The ideal candidate would be interested in working on globally-oriented energy governance issues with a regional focus, particularly topical issues of a cross-cutting nature. The NUS Centre for International Law (CIL) is inviting applications for a one-year Research Associate position from candidates with and LLM/JD degree or related experience in public international law/dispute resolution. This Research Associate position will be under CIL’s International Dispute Resolution (IDR) programme, with the objective to support and contribute to its new developments. Candidates with experience in public international law, including in international tribunals such as the International Court of Justice, are encouraged to apply. The focus topic of the IDR programme is disputes involving States and includes issues related to alternative dispute resolution, dispute settlement, international courts and peace and security.

A research associate position is available at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health to support the Principal Investigators in research projects in the areas of Biostatistics and Clinical Trials.

Major duties and responsibility of the post includes providing statistical input in the design, monitoring and analysis of clinical trials. In addition, the candidate is required to assist in report writing, presentations, and publication of the manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, he/she will need to contribute to the development and writing of research grant proposals. This includes clinical trials proposal as well as those involving the development of methodologies relating to study design, statistical methods of analysis and other clinical trials related issues.

Genetic engineering of plants promises to provide sustainable solutions for food security and climate change mitigation. Current genetic engineering technologies using Agrobacterium, viruses and nanoparticles through syringe injection and biolistic bombardment suffer from limitations including narrow ranges of host species, low transformation efficiencies, strict restrictions on cargo types and sizes, tissue damage and unwanted transgene integration into plant genome. A major challenge to deliver exogenous material into plants is the cell wall barrier. The Tay lab will be hiring a research fellow to develop nanomaterials for plant genetic engineering, with the goal to produce plants with enhanced traits such as higher yield and weather-resistant. 

This project aims to automate the design of origami-based deployable building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) to mitigate the energy consumption of skyscrapers. Buildings worldwide account for a third of energy consumption, BIPV offers a sustainable solution, embedding solar panels into building exteriors. However, the complexity of BIPV installation and a lack of skilled professionals impede their broader adoption. To overcome the challenge in installation, we’re introducing deployable BIPVs and developing a dedicated design tool tailored for origami-based BIPVs on skyscrapers.

Predicting Debt Crisis with Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Big Data, an inter-disciplinary project funded by the Asian Institute of Digital Finance, is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The Principal Investigators of this project are at the Asian Institute of Digital Finance and NUS School of Computing. The candidate will oversee day-to-day activities and the general management of assigned research projects. 

These responsibilities include:
