The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) at Tulane University seeks visiting research fellows for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Center supports empirical research in the fields of international relations, international political economy, comparative politics, political sociology, and policy studies. Latin American expertise and Spanish or Portuguese fluency are required. Fellows will be selected based on intellectual merit, experience, and the potential impact of their planned research for CIPR programs. Fellows will pursue research and contribute to the intellectual life of their disciplinary department, CIPR, and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. They are expected to participate in weekly CIPR seminars and workshops, as well as lectures, conferences, and other events organized by the Center. Fellows will collaborate with resident faculty and students on projects of mutual interest in addition to developing their independent research agendas on related topics, as well as mentor junior colleagues at the Center when possible. Fellowships are for one or two semesters depending on applicant preferences; however, the stipend is $37,000 plus benefits regardless of the duration. (06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: CIPR Post Doctoral Fellow
The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) invites applications for five (5) research fellowships for the Academic Year of 2024-2025, some with program administration duties and others with light teaching. Applications from the social sciences in the fields of international relations, international political economy, comparative politics, political sociology, and policy studies are preferred. Latin American expertise and Spanish or Portuguese fluency required. Fellows will be selected based on intellectual merit, experience, the potential impact of their planned research for CIPR programs, and teaching needs of the host department. Fellowships are one-year, residential, full-time appointments starting in July 2024 with a stipend of $48,940 plus benefits. Travel and moving expenses are not supported. In addition to their planned research, applicants must be prepared to carry out either program administration or adjunct teaching responsibilities. In the program administration track, fellows will be expected to work with CIPR’s director in one of the Center’s ongoing research initiatives, including the Commitment to Equity Project and/or Research Group MEGA: Mobilization, Extractivism, and Government Action, and/or to develop programmatic content and projects in Inter-American relations, comparative political economy, citizenship rights, human development, and others. The other fellowships carry a one course per semester adjunct teaching load in the department of the fellow’s primary discipline and in the candidate’s major subfields, without administrative responsibilities. The Newcomb Institute of Tulane University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in women’s history for the 2024-25 academic year (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025). We invite applicants whose research is intersectional and engages with priority interest areas of our Institute, including women and politics, feminist social and political movements, gender-based violence, and/or sexual and reproductive health and rights. A research focus on 20th century women’s history in the Gulf South is preferred though not required. The Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic New Orleans (EPIC-NOLA) is recruiting for a one-year clinical psychology fellowship position expected to start in January 2024. EPIC-NOLA includes an early detection and intervention service integrated with several clinical and services level research projects. The Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System is offered through the Forensic Neuropsychiatry division of the Tulane Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The goal of the fellowship is to enhance and broaden the fellow’s forensic assessment skills. Under supervision, fellows will conduct forensic evaluations at an inpatient forensic hospital (Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System – ELMHS) and in private cases. Fellows will be responsible for performing a wide variety of forensic mental health assessments with forensic patients, incarcerated individuals, as well as those in the community. A wide range of evaluations are requested at the ELMHS forensic state hospital and include: competency to stand trial (CST) evaluations, evaluations for malingering, psychodiagnostic clarification, intellectual and cognitive evaluations, and violence risk evaluations. Evaluees are justice-involved individuals who have been adjudicated not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) or deemed incompetent to stand trial by the court. Fellows will be responsible for selecting, administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests with the goal of writing high-quality integrated forensic reports. Additional forensic assessment opportunities are available through conducting private evaluations. These evaluations consist of referrals from attorneys, courts, and medical-legal professionals. Private forensic cases will encompass both criminal and civil areas. Typical referrals include competency to stand trial evaluations, violence risk assessments, and trauma and PTSD evaluations with both federal and state agencies. A large portion of case referrals are for mitigation and resentencing evaluations for Federal Court.

Scaraffia´s lab performs metabolic studies in mosquitoes.
