The research scope for this position is in perception and navigation development for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle operating in offshore environment. We will be developing advanced techniques for structural tracking and methods for perception generalisation across multiple types of offshore infrastructure. Perception and navigation strategies around complex jackets will be devised with a high level of scale as the focus for the techniques utilised. The techniques will start first with a mapping step (not necessarily used for localisation) followed by perception and navigation step. The development will be first deployed in the digital twin model of the Technology Centre for Offshore Marine Singapore (TCOMS) ocean basin before being tested in the open waters of Singapore.

We seek a highly-driven and motivated postdoctoral fellow (research fellow) with strong expertise in the preparation and characterization of organic, inorganic and organometallic compounds.

Among others, she or he will be responsible for the preparation and characterization of novel low-molecular weight metal complexes as suitable precursors for chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD) in a collaboration with Applied Materials.

The Research Fellow (Postdoc) will conduct research in the field of coastal dynamics, in terms of coupled CFD model on wave-current-seabed interaction and their impact on different shoreline types, e.g. beach, mudflat, mangrove regions. Numerical simulations and experiments will be conducted. The coupled CFD model will include the following new features:

•    Wave-current-storm surge interaction modelling and water inundation prediction.
•    Wave-current-seabed interaction with viscoelastic bottom (i.e. muddy seabed).
•    Coastal processes interacting with various shore types e.g. beach, breakwaters, rock revetment, nature-based infrastructures. The interaction includes wave run-up, overtopping, beach morphology and scour around the coastal structures.
•    The CFD model will be coupled with a potential flow-based depth-integrated model.

During the aging process, skeletal muscle experiences atrophy, yet cardiac muscle undergoes reactive hypertrophy in response to a continuous loss of myocytes in the heart. Our preliminary data suggests that impaired metabolic flexibility, the ability to adjust metabolism between lipids and carbohydrates in line with metabolic demand, might be the underlying mechanism causing muscle aging. The primary objective of the project for this role is to investigate the role of muscle lipid metabolism in maintaining the health of skeletal, cardiac, or both muscle tissues.

The Duke-NUS Centre for Computational Biology provides a nucleus for expertise in computational biology to study key questions in biomedical research. The laboratory of Assoc Prof Jacques Behmoaras focuses on understanding novel molecular and cellular mechanisms of ageing and metabolic disease. 

Ageing is becoming a global concern with multi-organ manifestations, including chronic, low-grade inflammation. Metabolic diseases share similarities in basic mechanisms of ageing. A system-level understanding of ageing and metabolic disease based on immunity and inflammation (‘inflammaging’) and senescence will be critical to achieve timely and impactful translation as well as in accelerating drug discovery. The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens.
