Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Postdoctoral Fellow will investigate the cell biology underlying interactions between macrophages and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The major focus will be understanding how post-translational modifications of host proteins impact the initiation, progression, and resolution of key innate immune pathways like cytosolic DNA sensing and selective autophagy. In addition, proteomics approaches and genetic screens will be employed to identify novel players in these pathways, including host proteins and bacterial factors. Validation of both previously identified and newly discovered factors will be performed using a combination of M. tuberculosis genetics (knockout and complemented strains, transposon screens, etc.), macrophage genetics (CRISPR knockout macrophages, epitope-tagged expression lines, mammalian CRISPR screens, etc.), biochemistry (immunoprecipitations, mass spectrometry, ubiquitination/phosphorylation assays, etc.), molecular biology (RT-qPCR, RNA-seq, etc.), cell biology (immunofluorescence, protein studies/western blots, etc.), and mouse infection models. The work from these studies will deepen our understanding of the molecular interface between the host macrophage and intracellular M. tuberculosis, promoting the development of more effective therapies to treat TB.

The Waksman Institute of Microbiology of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking to find a Postdoc to conduct research in the Zander laboratory at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology looks for an individual that investigates the interplay between master transcription factors and the epigenome in plant stress responses with a focus on early regulatory events at cell-type resolution and ultimately at single cell resolution. Research is carried out in the Zander laboratory, that conducts molecular, genetic and (epi)genomic research to better understand the role of transcription factors and the epigenome in initiating robust stress responses. The individual is needed to conduct research on questions related to transcription factor DNA binding and epigenome dynamics in elevated temperature and immune responses. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for conducting highly specialized and technical research. The individual will be primarily engaged in the mechanistic studies of small molecule antibacterials. The position will involve one or more of the following approaches: intrabacterial drug accumulation/metabolism, generation of drug-resistant mutants, and target validation through genetic and/or biochemical methods. The position may also involve the use of computational methods for compound design, including but not limited to molecular docking and machine learning. The individual will also contribute his/her time towards writing manuscripts and review articles that directly result from his/her research. In addition, the individual will also help train graduate students and technicians.

Rutgers University formally known as Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a public land-grant research university based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Chartered in 1766, Rutgers was originally called Queen’s College.
