Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate
We have developed a novel computational framework to improve understanding of the underlying dynamics that lead to escalating regional hurricane disaster risk, and to support design and analysis of public policy interventions to address them. The framework explicitly considers perspectives of and interactions among multiple key stakeholders (government, primary insurers, and homeowners), and multiple diverse interventions (e.g., home strengthening, acquisition, and insurance). It includes a computable general equilibrium model to relate hurricane damage to gross domestic product, labor wages, savings, etc. We envision the person hired in this position to extend this framework to create an optimization model that represents the government’s interest in controlling hurricane risk by balancing economic growth, equity, and regional loss exposure to determine how to allocate funds for insurance subsidies, mitigation grants and acquisition programs.
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate in the Division of Nutritional Sciences Molecular Nutrition Lab
The Aydemir’s lab of Molecular Nutrition in the Division of Nutritional Sciences is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher. Dr. Aydemir’s research group investigates the metabolism and transporter-mediated function of micronutrients, zinc, and manganese in mammalian systems. These studies involve the integration of the techniques in biochemistry, molecular, cellular biology, neuroscience, and physiology to micronutrient biology and related disorders. The ideal candidate for this position would be a motivated individual able to work independently. The successful candidate will be expected to perform in vitro cell culture assays and in vivo laboratory animal (mice) research. This is a one-year appointment with a possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory job performance and funding availability.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate
Our group focuses on chemical and genetic approaches to probe M. tuberculosis pathogenesis and the interactions with immune cells. In particular, we are interested in understanding how M. tuberculosis persists and replicates in macrophages in order to define new weaknesses and drugs that enhance current Tuberculosis treatments. By integrating chemical and genetic approaches, our work sheds light on new aspects of basic biology and we translate these findings into early stage drug candidates. This position will work closely with Academic and Executive Director of NCP on various research and writing projects. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate – Eirene
This position requires a qualified scientist with skills in molecular biology, neurobiology, and genomics. The scientist will use these tools to study the function of chromatin regulation during brain development; an applied goal is to use these studies to characterize the function of human variants associated with autism that affect chromatin regulator genes. The scientist will be expected to generate genome-wide data on chromatin state and transcription factor binding, in isolated populations of cells or single-cell resolution. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate – Collaborative on Media and Messaging for Health and Social Policy team

A postdoctoral position is available in the Leifer Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Cornell University. The lab focuses on innate immune receptor signaling and regulation using a variety of techniques from signal pathway analysis in primary human and mouse macrophages and dendritic cells, and cell lines, to whole animal models of disease. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and their crosstalk with other signaling pathways is a current area of ongoing research.
We seek highly motivated candidates with experience in cell biology, signaling, innate immune receptors, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and lab animal handling experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must and bioinformatics experience analyzing -omics data is a plus. This individual will work on currently funded projects as well as carve out their own project in TLR signaling regulation. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate – Department of Natural Resources and the Environment
When introduced plant species become invasive and the development of biological weed control is often the only long-term solution for their sustainable management. For several decades, the Blossey lab at Cornell University has developed biocontrol programs targeting invasive plants of conservation concern as well as novel ways to assess safety and direct and indirect outcomes of insects post release. We are now expanding our team to further enhance biocontrol programs targeting invasive Phragmites, Japanese knotweeds (Reynoutria spp.) and water chestnut (Trapa natans). These different programs are in various stages of development and the work program may involve foreign exploration, host specificity testing in the field and in quarantine, as well as development of long-term assessment procedures, and demographic analyses of herbivore impacts. Managing invasive species using biocontrol for conservation will require buy-in and acceptance by different stakeholders. Therefore, a portion of the work we envision will involve development of quantitative social science experiments to probe attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, and policy preferences. We are looking for a postdoctoral associate to join our team to enhance our capabilities, by developing new experimental approaches and assisting in analyses of existing long-term datasets.

This is a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position in Biology Education in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic (MBG) at Cornell University. The successful candidate will take a leading role in evaluation and design of new active learning strategies of core biology courses, including but not limited to: BIOMG 1350, BIOMG2800/2801 and BIOMG3300. This individual will (i) work with department faculty to develop, design, and implement active learning techniques in larger courses, participate in the college-wide Active Learning Initiative (ALI) program, including attending weekly ALI fellows’ meetings and facilitating ALI assessments such as surveys and class observations. The School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to conduct interdisciplinary studies combining plant phenomics and genomics. The position is in the Sections of Plant Breeding and Genetics (Gore Lab) and Soil and Crop Science (Sun Lab). The successful applicant is expected to integrate physiological and environmental processes with genetic data to understand and forecast plant performance at different spatial and temporal scales. The interdisciplinary group on pyrolysis bio-energy, circular bionutrient economy, and biochar at Cornell University is searching for an outstanding individual who will lead research support, development and outreach at the Leland Pyrolysis facility. The position is located at the Section of Soil and Crop Sciences within the School of Integrative Plant Science (SIPS) at Cornell University. The incumbent will support research and development of pyrolysis and biochar, may conduct active research in collaboration with faculty across the colleges, and will be responsible for some outreach activities. Research will include, but is not limited to, understanding mass and energy balances of pyrolysis bioenergy, biochar properties, system performance, and greenhouse gas emissions to provide information about opportunities to mitigate climate change, improve food security and reduce environmental pollution. Work will include gas, liquid and solid analyses using standard as well as advanced analytical equipment, programming, running a modern pyrolysis plant and ensuring its regulatory compliance including relevant reporting. Work also includes nutrient recycling from liquid waste streams using biochar retention systems.
The holder of the position will be expected to teach one course on a conflict resolution topic in both the fall and spring semesters on the Cornell Ithaca campus to undergraduates or graduate students and participate in activities of the Scheinman Institute and ILR School i.e., seminars and other Institute gatherings. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate in volatile budgets and their role in volcanic processes
We seek a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in cutting-edge petrological tools to study volatile budgets and their role in volcanic processes. The research will be under the direction of Prof. Esteban Gazel (https://gazelresearchgroup.eas.cornell.edu). We are particularly interested in scientists with previous expertise in reconstructing the volatile evolution of volcanic materials using melt/fluid inclusions coupled with diffusion clocks. The successful candidate will have access to cutting-edge facilities at Cornell, including micro thermometry, experimental reheating of melt inclusions with fO2 control, Raman and FTIR, and LA-ICP-MS/MS. The start date of this position is August 15, 2023, but a flexible start date is possible. The ILR School at Cornell University is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate in the ILR Future of Work program beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. The theme is the Intersection of Low-wage Workers’ Rights and Immigration Policy. The Postdoctoral Associate will work with ILR faculty members Kate Griffith and Shannon Gleeson. In addition to working on their own research, the Postdoctoral Associate is expected to conduct research with Griffith and Gleeson to advance a new research project in this area. This new project will evaluate recent experiments to rationalize the directives of immigration enforcement and labor rights enforcement through prosecutorial discretion for unauthorized immigrant workers. A number of labor rights cases that engage this policy are winding their way through the process. Drawing on this timely and unique policy shift, this project seeks to examine the impacts these efforts have on workers, labor advocates and labor rights enforcement agencies. The project aims to present research findings in both academic and practitioner outlets.
