The University of Arizona’s Indigenous Resilience Center is seeking Postdoctoral Research Associate I position on Indigenous Education within the Native FEWS Alliance. This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

The Native FEWS Alliance aims to significantly broaden the participation of Native American and underrepresented students in Food, Energy, and Water Systems (FEWS) education and careers to address critical challenges facing their communities. The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to work with the Prof. Ingmar Riedel-Kruse Lab.

This individual will work on questions related to multicellular bacterial pattern formation, biofilms, bacterial self-assembly, and the evolutionary origin of multicellularity. The goal of the lab is to solve important questions regarding infectious diseases, biomaterial science, biochemical synthesis, evolution, and ecological sustainability.

The primary purpose of this appointment is to conduct research, both independently and collaboratively with other lab members. The successful candidate will develop and troubleshoot new assays as needed, analyze data, prepare publication quality figures and keep meticulous records, and give presentations on their research findings. We seek a creative post-doctoral scientist with experience in computational analysis and/or modeling of ecosystem processes and isotope biogeochemistry. The candidate will use statistical modeling and computational techniques to analyze observations of methane cycling under climate warming in an Arctic wetland/lake complex.

The science goals of this project (a collaboration funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation’s EMERGE Institute) are to discover and predict how methane-cycling microbial soil communities interact with wetland ecology and gas transport processes to affect ecosystem carbon and methane cycling across lakes and wetlands of Arctic Sweden.

The position is in the research group of Dr. Scott Saleska, with co-mentorship by Dr. Rick Wehr at Aerodyne Research, Inc., We work as part of a national and international team comparing ecosystem and isotope dynamics to molecular microbial ecology (e.g. of methane cycling organisms) from Arctic Sweden to Amazonia.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to work on radar instrument development projects and conduct original research on the use of future radar systems to obtain quantitative information about the surfaces of Venus, Mars and the Moon. The Postdoctoral Research Associate I will work as part of the Space Exploration SAR instrument development team, and the EnVision VenSAR Science Team, to develop strategies for the use of these systems. This work will include analysis of possible target regions on relevant planets, modeling of radar performance, participation in remote and in-person team meetings, presenting results at conferences, and preparation of original scientific research manuscripts.

The Center for Trust Studies at the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in trust research. The fellowship is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). It will begin in mid-August 2024 and continue for two academic years until May 2026. The position is open to researchers with an interest in trust in organizational settings. Nutritional Sciences and Wellness is seeking a well-organized and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to participate in an NIH funded study that will examine the incorporation of of specific dietary fatty acids into sphingolipid metabolism and the effects on intestinal biology and pathophysiology.

This preferred candidate will examine the role of specific sphingolipid enzymes and their bioactive lipid products in intestinal inflammation using in vivo and in vitro models. The preferred postdoctoral associate will plan and design research experiments, write manuscripts, and must have exceptional organization skills, as well as technical and problem-solving skills. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of and experience with immunology and in vivo models of inflammation models to include genotyping, observation and data collection, as well as tissue collection, preservation and analysis for protein, lipids, flow cytometry and RNA. Additional experience with the following techniques are also desirable: cell culture maintenance; animal model development, testing and optimization of molecular biology techniques including bacterial transformation and DNA purification, PCR and subcloning, site-directed mutagenesis, plasmid transfection, and generating/validating CRISPR knockout cell lines is also desirable. A postdoctoral position is available to teach gross anatomy in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.
