Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow (Penn Autism Spectrum Program of Excellence)
The Fuccillo lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher that is interested in being an integral member of an interdisciplinary program across human and model systems, the Autism Spectrum Program of Excellence (ASPE), which looks to shed new light on autism pathophysiology and treatment. Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher will perform whole cell electrophysiology recordings from visualized neurons in various cortical, striatal and midbrain acute slices. Applicants are expected to have some experience using whole cell voltage and current clamp recordings to assess the synaptic connectivity of specific neural circuits. The researcher will also perform stereotaxic delivery of viruses into brain and perform basic immunohistochemical assays on recorded tissues. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Fuccillo, ASPE principal investigators and a broader leadership team to develop a rigorous and cutting-edge research agenda that prepares the Postdoctoral Researcher for his/her next career steps. Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Biology
We are seeking a highly talented and motivated postdoctoral research scientist to work in Dr. Kara Bernstein’s laboratory on the human RAD51 paralogs and their role in cancer development at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. The Bernstein lab studies DNA repair and recombination in yeast and human cells. We provide a fun and collaborative work environment. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher
We are a multi-disciplinary and collaborative research group seeking highly-motivated investigators to join our program studying rare genetic human diseases of de novo extra-skeletal bone formation. Inactivating mutations in the human GNAS gene cause POH; heterotopic bone in POH initiates within subcutaneous adipose tissue and is preceded by depletion of the adipose tissue and lipid content. Activating mutations in ACVR1, a BMP type I receptor, cause FOP; in skeletal muscle heterotopic ossification is preceded by an altered immune response and changes in the tissue microenvironment. Opportunities are available to conduct research investigating stem cells in muscle and adipose tissues, tissue regeneration and repair, genetic and epigenetic regulation, chromatin organization, biomechanical signaling, transcriptional regulation, and/or cell/tissue energy metabolism.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: postdoctoral fellow
One postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Anh Le/Dr. Zhang. We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, and collaborative scientist to study immunoregulatory mechanisms under dental stem cell-based tissue regeneration or head & neck tumor microenvironment settings. The position is supported by federal and internal funding. There are multiple basic and translational research projects available for consideration. The laboratory is a highly collaborative and supportive training environment in which successful candidates will be given the opportunity to mentor and train junior lab members, develop new methodologies, and enhance professional development skills. The candidate’s responsibilities will include experimental design, execution, data analysis, data presentation, and manuscript preparation. The position is contingent on continued funding.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Aging/Metabolism/NAD+ – Baur Lab
The Baur lab is recruiting a highly motivated biology/biochemistry graduate for a post-doctoral position at the University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team that studying all things mitochondria, aging, and NAD+ metabolism. Specifically, they will be studying one of several funded projects focused on the metabolism and functional roles of NAD+.
Potential projects include: 1. Identifying regulators of the mitochondrial NAD+ transporter SLC25A51 2. Investigating the physiological consequences of cardiomyocyte or mitochondria-specific NAD+ depletion in the heart 3. Quantitatively testing strategies for NAD+ precursor delivery to failing hearts
The Gerson Laboratory in the Center for Reproduction and Women’s Health at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine seeks a postdoctoral fellow for a project investigating microbiome-metabolome interactions governing cervical remodeling in preterm birth. This research will utilize in vitro methodologies to examine the impact of vaginal microbiota and microbial metabolites on epithelial barrier function and host immune response. This work may extend to other areas of the female reproductive tract in an effort to unveil mechanisms through which the metabolome modifies numerous other reproductive outcomes. This work is funded by the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and American Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Foundation.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in retinal neuroinflammation
The Beltran lab within the Division of Experimental Retinal Therapies, School of Veterinary Medicine, at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking exceptional candidates for a Postdoctoral fellowship in the field of neuroinflammation. Gene therapies for many different retinopathies have taken center stage in recent years with one FDA approved gene therapy in the market and over 30 other retinal gene therapies in clinical trials. Concern has also grown for gene therapy associated inflammation and its impact on long-term patient outcomes. This research project will focus on an in-depth understanding of AAV-mediated inflammation pathways and immune responses in large animal models and development of targeted mitigation strategies to reduce the possibility of persistent chronic inflammation post retinal gene therapy administration. Using transcriptomic and proteomic approaches, the goal will be to differentiate the pathways and molecules involved in disease-associated chronic retinal inflammation observed in most retinopathies, and those emerging post-gene therapy.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to learn and develop new materials, cellular systems, and animal models for immuno-mechanical engineering. Penn Dental Medicine has a rich history as a research-intensive institution and continues to be an international leader in the generation of new knowledge and treatment modalities to improve oral health. Penn Dental Medicine unites basic scientists, clinicians, and engineers to translate new knowledge into clinical therapies that expand our understanding of oral diseases and advance patient care. The Brady lab led by Dr. Donita Brady is part of the Department of Cancer Biology and the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. We are currently recruiting three postdoctoral fellows to join our research program at Penn. Our research program at Penn is founded in a new paradigm in nutrient sensing and protein regulation, termed metalloallostery, where redox-active metals control kinase activity, and is advancing our knowledge in basic science and disease-focused areas. Our focus lies at the intersection of kinase signaling and copper (Cu) homeostasis with the goal of defining the mechanistic features of Cu-dependent kinases to target them in cancer via drug repurposing or development. The emergence of this new paradigm in nutrient sensing and protein regulation has established that Cu is a critical mediator of intracellular signaling, provided evidence for the existence of molecular mechanisms for sensing changes in Cu abundance, and expanded the contribution of Cu to cellular processes necessary for adaptation to nutrient scarcity.
