Postdoc summary/title: RESEARCH SCIENTIST/ENGINEER 3
The 3D structure of eukaryotic genomes plays a central role in gene regulation, and aberrant structures are now recognized to affect a wide range of diseases. However, few approaches have been developed to correct aberrant chromatin loops and positioning within the nucleus. We seek to develop methods to efficiently engineer chromatin loops and recruit long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) to move specific chromatin regions within the nucleus, using CRISPR-Cas systems that target either genomic DNA or RNA. These methods will be used to regulate expression of disease-associated genes on the X chromosome, which will enable fundamental studies on the role of spatial organization in the control of gene expression and X chromosome inactivation. It will also provide new approaches to treat diseases that arise from mutations in X-linked genes, enabling precise restoration of native expression levels in dosage-sensitive genes. The proposed approaches will utilize the X chromosome as a model system, but will also be applicable to genes in other regions of the genome.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: RESEARCH SCIENTIST MATERNAL & CHILD HEALTH
The main purpose of this position is to conduct research on the Health Systems team with a focus on the link between health services and maternal, neonatal and infant mortality, working closely with the Health Systems Team Lead, other Health Systems Faculty, Data Analysts, Research Manager, and other team members. More specifically, our research on pregnancy care services involves: estimating the distribution of births by the level of health facility (e.g. hospital, health clinic, other facility type); forecasting key pregnancy care service indicators such as skilled birth attendance (SBA), in-facility delivery (IFD), Caesarian section, postnatal care (PNC), and select antenatal care (ANC) quality metrics – blood draw, blood pressure, tetanus vaccination, and urine sample); estimating all-cause neonatal mortality (less than 28 days) and infant mortality (less than 1 year) for those delivering in health facilities versus those delivering at home; and analyzing subnational variation in the availability and quality of maternal health services supplied at health facilities. You will be integrally involved in producing, critiquing, improving, and disseminating results. You already have a command of analysis of, but also have experience in epidemiology, statistics, disease modeling, or related interests. Our Research Scientists work with senior research leads and external collaborators and take part in the intellectual exchange about how to improve upon the results and disseminate the results.
