Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Clinical Research Fellow
The studies involve subject recruitment and collection of clinical, multimodal neuroimaging and other data in patients. The projects include a clinical trial of the potential of adjunctive treatment for treatment resistance, the synaptic hypothesis of schizophrenia, and of novel treatment approaches. The post-holder will have opportunities to get involved in data analysis and develop their research interests within the projects. Training in research methods will be provided, and the post-holder will develop skills in using gold-standard diagnostic and clinical ratings, which will be useful for future research and clinical practice.
Postdoc summary/title: Research Fellow (Principal Trial Statistician)
The post holder will work with internationally renowned King’s College London clinicians and scientists to evaluate novel interventions and medications in psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience.The post holder will lead a team of statisticians and work with multidisciplinary teams to work up future funding applications for clinical trials, and to act as the trial statistical in the conduct of clinical trials of investigational medicinal products.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate (Drug Control Centre)
Under the supervision of the Head of the DCC, the postholder will be responsible for research and development. The post holder will function effectively under our ISO 17025 quality system and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as instructed by the Senior Quality Manager. The Department of War Studies is seeking a Research Associate with expertise in social science methods to work on the Research Council of Norway-funded project, CYKNOW (‘Cyber Security, Knowledge and Practices’). The project will explore: how the digital threat landscape is understood by cyber security practitioners, e.g., policy makers and cybersecurity practitioners; how knowledge of cyber security is thereby generated; and how particular cyber security policies and practices emerge from these epistemic foundations. It will develop an innovative theoretical and methodological framework for understanding the sociotechnical construction of cyber security knowledge, grounded in the analysis of empirical research into the interplay of cyber security discourses, technologies and practices.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cardio-immunology within King’s Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine and the BHF Centre of Excellence. Myocardial infarction (MI) is the commonest cause of heart failure and there is compelling evidence implicating excessive inflammation as a key contributor. Clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is where individuals acquire mutations in blood cells without apparent blood disease, and these mutations promote inflammation. CHIP confers a 4-fold increased risk of ischaemic heart disease and 3-fold increased risk of death from heart failure. This inter-disciplinary project aims to investigate CHIP-mediated effects on ventricular remodelling and heart failure after MI.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
We are seeking to appoint a biophysicist (preferably with a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Physics, or related disciplines) interested in mechanobiology and with proved experience in single molecule mechanics. This project aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which extracellular mechanical forces travel long distances inside the cell to reach the nucleus on biologically-related timescales. The project requires extensive experience in single molecule AFM (including protein unfolding and refolding under force), single molecule magnetic tweezers or related techniques. The project is funded by the Wellcome Trust.

The post-holder will be a senior level, experienced postdoctoral researcher. The post-holder will work in collaboration with Professor Rona Moss-Morris and her research team to support the running of the Digital Therapeutics theme and will be responsible for providing strategic oversight of the theme. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate in Stem Cell Neurobiology
We are looking for a skilled research associate with a molecular biological background to join a vibrant group investigating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-frontotemporal dementia (ALS-FTD). You will be using CRISPR to gene edit human stem cells to introduce unpublished disease-linked mutations. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in MRI Physics
In the era of big data, there is a growing need for systematic imaging on larger cohorts of subjects. The School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Science at KCL has a large MRI capability including 7T, three 3T, 1.5T, 0.55T, XMR, PET-MR and ultra-low field (0.064T) systems. This MR physics post has been created to achieve larger scale coordinated activities across these systems to support a coming generation of cohort studies. A primary objective will be to set up and be the key MR physics lead for a UK-Biobank inspired study on a cohort of ~3000 twins who have been deeply genotyped and phenotyped. This will involve doing initial pilot testing, optimising imaging performance and putting in place sustainable practices for data handling and quality assurance to support the study. Further activities will relate to systematic use of our capacity to support the research portfolio of our NIHR Imaging Clinical Research Facility, to create opportunities for small and large scale research and to achieve added value by harmonisation and optimisation of individual systems, acquisitions and protocols.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate
The Sahara lab studies the mechanisms regulating the self-renewal potential of cortical progenitors and the ability of multipotent cells to differentiate into different types of progenitors and neurons/glia (Ramos et al 2020). The successful applicant will pursue research projects to understand how a vast diversity of cortical projection neurons and glia emerge from a limited number of progenitors during development. We will address this question by interrogating the molecular mechanisms in mouse cortical development. These include in vivo manipulation of gene expression in vivo, cell and molecular biology, brain slice physiology, imaging and bioinformatics.

This project aims to determine the physiology and mechanisms of neurodegeneration following ischemic spinal cord injury (SCI) caused following aortic occlusion. In close collaboration with Dr. Warren, Prof. Bradbury, and Prof Modarai (and primarily situated in the Warren Lab), the successful researcher will evaluate the physiological and cellular mechanisms of ischemic SCI from acute to chronic timepoint using validated experimental models. Further, they will use data from ischemic SCI patients to identify and new ECM-targeting or ECM-modulating therapeutic strategies which they will assess in pre-clinical injury models to determine their mechanism of action and efficacy in facilitating functional locomotor recovery.
