Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doctoral fellow
A postdoctoral position in cellular therapies for solid cancer is available immediately. The postdoc will investigate novel cellular therapies using gamma delta CAR-T cells for solid tumors using state-of-the-art technologies at the University of Pennsylvania. Training will be provided.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researchers
Two postdoctoral researcher positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaolu Yang at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. The Yang lab studies cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Our current projects focus on two broad areas:
(1) The tumor suppressor p53, metabolism, and autophagy. We are interested in the regulation and functions of the preeminent tumor suppressor p53. Our results have revealed a role for p53 in modulating metabolic pathways that are critical for biosynthesis and redox balance. We are investigating the function of p53 as both a sentinel and a regulator for metabolic activities. We are also identifying and characterizing metabolic alterations that drive tumor initiation and progression. A recent extension of this research area is to define the role of metabolism and autophagy in stem cells, including embryonic stem cells and cancer stem cells.
(2) Protein quality control, aging, and neurodegeneration. Our lab recently identified two protein quality control (PQC) systems, which consist of tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins and poly-Asp/Glu (polyD/E) proteins, respectively. Unlike canonical PQC systems, these new systems are independent of ATP and are unique for animals (the TRIM system) or eukaryotes (the polyD/E system). Both systems are multifunctional and highly effective. We are investigating their mechanisms of action; their roles in aging and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; and their utility in treating these diseases.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITIONS to study signaling pathways in tumorigenesis and metastasis
Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Marcelo Kazanietz at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (https://www.med.upenn.edu/kazanietzlab/) to study basic and translational aspects of cancer signaling, with particular focus in lung and prostate cancer.
Requirements: We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with demonstrated ability to lead a research project and work independently. Interested candidates should have a PhD and/or MD degree, preferentially no more than 2 years postdoctoral experience, and strong background in cellular and molecular biology. Expertise in cellular and animal models of cancer as well as an excellent publication record in cancer signaling is preferred.
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available for a highly motivated applicant in the laboratory of Dr. Fiona Simpkins at the University of Pennsylvania. Our focuses are to understand resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies such as DNA Damage Repair inhibitors (DDRi), to sequence DDRi with Immuno-Oncology (IO) drugs, and to identify biomarkers or response to these agents. We have developed a preclinical drug development program in the Ovarian Cancer Research Center with the goal of moving novel laboratory therapeutic discoveries into the clinic. We have developed >150 patient derived xenografts (PDX) models, patient-derived organoids, and primary tumor cultures from ovarian and endometrial cancers. These PDX models mimic the original tumors, thereby accelerating the translation of preclinical study results into clinical trials for patients. Also, we are “humanizing” our models by autologous tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) and macrophage (TAM) transfer, creating an autologous in vivo model system. Our laboratory has close collaborations with pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca, Merck, REPAIR, Zentalis. Based on preclinical studies from our lab, novel combination therapies have moved to phase 1/2 clinical trials led by Dr Simpkins (e.g. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03462342 and GY031). We have another two drug combinations also moving into clinical trials. Dr. Simpkins strongly supports career development of postdocs, either developing an independent laboratory in academia or finding a position in industry. We provide a rich multi-disciplinary training environment in animal modeling, molecular biology, genomics, cancer biology, and immunology, and we have sufficient fundings from various sources, including NIH funding to support this. Previous trainees have been awarded with multiple grants including NIH career development K12 grant, OCRA early career grant, AACR fellowship, Rivkin award, OCRA mentored award, FWC grant, KOH grant and Harrison award.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Translational Neurosurgical Oncology Postdoctoral Researcher

The Wilson laboratory in the Division of Diagnostic Innovation in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Penn is hiring a postdoctoral fellow to work on an established project focused on single cell and spatial analysis of human diabetic kidney disease. This position involves both dry lab and wet lab responsibilities and will consider applicants with experience in either area. The fellow will conduct single cell analysis of human donor specimens from patients with diabetic kidney disease under the supervision of Dr. Wilson. We have already sequenced a large number of single cell libraries in collaboration with Novo Nordisk and preprocessed our dataset for downstream analysis. We are looking for a motivated individual who can work together with our research team to complete any necessary validation studies and move this project to publication. Prior coding experience is not required and the position can be tailored to the applicant skillset. Applicants with bioinformatics experience may be interested in single cell or spatial analysis techniques whereas applicants with molecular biology experience could focus on assay development and cell culture models of diabetic kidney injury. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Spatial Omics
We are looking for an exceptionally creative and self-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join us in developing new technologies for spatial omics profiling at the cellular level. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external groups to solve challenging biological problems. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Toxicology
The Romano Lab at the University of Pennsylvania is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to develop and apply new methods in computational toxicology using artificial intelligence and techniques from biomedical informatics. We develop knowledge graphs to computationally predict and explain the downstream clinical effects that arise following exposure to environmental toxicants. This postdoc position will involve extending these knowledge graphs to new biomedical data types, and applying graph machine learning (Graph ML) to detect novel adverse outcome pathways. They will also have the opportunity to interact with real-world observational datasets (e.g., Penn’s Electronic Data Warehouse and Biobank resources) to validate the Graph ML predictions. The postdoctoral researcher will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical and translational informatics projects that arise as the result of new collaborations and departmental initiatives. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doctoral Fellowship in Cancer Genetics
The Nathanson laboratory invites applications for Post-Doctoral positions at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. We focus on cutting-edge translational research in cancer genetics, both in the inherited and somatic genetics of cancer (example publications include Hu et al., NEJM 2021; Maxwell et al., JCO Pres Onc, 2020; Kraya et al., Clin Cancer Res 2019). Expertise and interest in both wet bench studies and bioinformatics is preferred, however applicants with only expertise in bioinformatics would be welcome. The laboratory is highly collaborative and investigates several cancers, among which are hereditary breast cancer (due to BRCA1/2 and non-BRCA1/2 mutations), melanoma, testicular germ cell tumors, and neuroendocrine tumors. Applications for postdoctoral positions are invited across all areas of research, all of which are funded by multiple NIH grants and foundation funding. Potential projects include research to identify novel susceptibility variants through whole exome sequencing in men with testicular germ cell tumors, on the inherited and somatic genetics of breast cancer, including identification of novel susceptibility genes, characterization of moderate penetrance genes, and somatic studies of breast and other cancers in BRCA1/2 mutation carriers (with bulk and single cell RNA/DNA sequencing, and immunophenotyping), with the opportunity to perform correlative studies in relationship to therapeutic response, both targeted and immunotherapies. Further, we have access to the Penn Medicine Biobank with over 45K individuals with whole exome sequencing available for multiple genetic studies in cancer. The laboratory is located with the Institute for Immunology at Penn, and there are multiple opportunities for local collaboration. Applicants also will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative efforts at the national and international stage.

Multiple NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Rajan Jain in the Departments of Medicine and Cell & Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Our laboratory uses genetic, biochemical, imaging and genomic approaches to decipher how nuclear architecture governs cell fate decisions. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in Genetic Regulation of Skeletal Cells
Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the Lefebvre laboratory in the Translational Research Program in Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Abramson Research Institute. The fellows will elucidate specific genetic and epigenetic mechanisms whereby SOX and other transcription factors interact with one another and with growth factor signaling pathways to govern the commitment of mesenchymal progenitor/stem cells to skeletal lineages and the multi-step programs of osteoblast and chondrocyte differentiation. The fellows will use cutting-edge approaches in vivo and in vitro, including mouse models and high-throughput ‘omics’ approaches. Successful accomplishment of this research is anticipated to deepen fundamental scientific knowledge, increase understanding of mechanisms underlying skeleton malformation and degenerative diseases, and help the fellows launch promising careers as independent research investigators.
