(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in supply-chain policies for deforestation-free landscapes

The PostDoc is funded by the transdisciplinary Belmont Forum project “BEDROCK – Building an evidence-base for deforestation-free landscapes: supporting equitable outcomes in and beyond commodity supply-chains”, which aims to develop a conceptual and analytical framework for assessing supply-chain policy responses to deforestation and apply this framework to evaluate ongoing policy interventions in key commodity-deforestation frontiers in Brazil, Cameroon, and Indonesia. Through a system-level understanding of the impact of supply-chain interventions – based on state-of-the-art theories of change, data and methods – the project will identify “best-bet” policy portfolios which are most likely to drive down deforestation while also minimizing the risk of undesirable or unintended consequences.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in single molecule biophysics analysis of DNA repair

Nanofluidic channels have been demonstrated to be a prominent tool for analysing DNA-protein interactions. DNA is stretched by confinement which means that no anchoring of the DNA is required. This means that we can readily studied DNA extracted from cells and that reactions occurring on DNA ends are readily accessible. We have used this methodology for a variety of different DNA-protein interactions. We will in this project focus on DNA-protein interactions involved in DNA repair and in particular repair of DNA double strand breaks.

(15) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in Computational Catalysis

Hydrogen is expected to be an energy carrier in a future sustainable energy system that does not rely on fossil energy sources. One issue using hydrogen is, however, transportation and storage. The present technologies for storage and transportation are mainly based on liquid compressed hydrogen, which require very high pressures or very low temperatures. Technologies with Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) offer an alternative to compressed hydrogen by storing hydrogen in organic molecules. Hydrogen is in the LOHC technology stored in chemical bonds in a liquid carrier, which allow the usage of already existing infrastructure for conventional liquid fuels. The LOHC technology is based on catalytic hydrogenation and dehydrogenation steps using suitable storage molecules. The present project will explore potential catalysts for the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation steps and develop first-principles kinetic models for the reactions. The work will be performed at the division of Chemical Physics and the Competence Centre for Catalysis.

The position involves cleanroom work based on electron-beam lithography, electrodynamics simulations of metasurfaces, experimental optical analysis, and development of proof-of-principle devises. You will work in a team of students and senior researchers with competences ranging from VCSEL fabrication to biophotonics applications. The Bionanophotonics group, lead by Professor Mikael Käll, has been engaged in advanced nanophotonics research since more than twenty years and is well-known for contributions to fields like plasmonics, surface-enhanced spectroscopy, optical manipulation, and metasurfaces.
