Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Position: Development of Force Field Methods
Fixed charge force fields have been the workhorses for performing Molecular Dynamics simulations for several decades. As increases in computer resources have enabled longer simulations, it is increasingly becoming clear that the quality of the results in many cases may be limited by the accuracy of the force fields. Several studies have also found significant differences in the performance of different force fields, despite that they differ only in small details in their parameterization. Improved force fields, for example by including electric polarization, have not yet gained widespread use, and the results are often only marginally improved relative to fixed charge force fields.

This postdoctoral position will focus on aspects of plastic sorting for plastic recycling. You will primarily work on improving and benchmarking state-of-art hyperspectral technology with respect to identifying and performing industrial sorting of plastic waste. Enhanced performance of algorithms is key in order to detect additives and increase the purity of recycled plastics on an industrial scale.

The position(s) are funded by several grants (Eurostars (EU), Energy Development and Demonstration Programme (DK) and Innovation Foundation Denmark). All project involves external both academic and industrial partners, in which the company Advanced Surface Plating (Aarhus, Denmark) – a subsidiary of HydrogenPro – is central in all projects. Projects are related to development of electrode catalysts for alkaline water electrolysers and general performance improvement (separators, cell geometry etc). Besides fundamental developments, all projects include testing on kW scale.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in structure of sugar and phytohormone transporting membrane proteins at Aarhus University, Denmark
The position seeks to strengthen ongoing activities in the laboratory of Bjørn P. Pedersen related to the function and mechanism of sugar-transporting and hormone-transporting membrane proteins in plants (pedersenlab.dk). Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position at the Centre for the Experimental-Philosophical Study of Discrimination (CEPDISC)
The position as postdoctoral researcher is a fixed-term academic research position. As part of a small, interdisciplinary subproject (work package 7) within the centre, the postdoc position will cover a variety of tasks including research design, data collection, analysis and dissemination. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute substantially to publications, both as first and secondary author and to take part in the research activities at the centre on a daily basis. The work will focus on understanding the biosynthesis of vicine and convicine in faba bean (Vicia faba) to completely eliminate these antinutrients from faba bean seeds. It will involve integrative data analysis of metabolite, gene expression and diversity data as well as generation of transgenic and gene-edited faba bean plants.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position within the research project ‘Constructing the Ocean’ at the School of Culture and Society
The postdoc-position is part of the research project ‘Constructing the Ocean: Indian Ocean Infrastructures and Thick Transregionalism’ (CO-OC), headed by principal investigator, associate professor Uwe Skoda (Global Studies), with associate professor Thomas Fibiger (Study of Religion) as co-PI. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doc on CO2 to Protein
The project will focus on a biotechnological approach to radically change the way our societies produce food and chemicals. Current production schemes relies heavily on area use and fossil resources, and this must be fundamentally changed. Our societies emit too much carbon dioxide. This emission can be lowered by using carbon dioxide as a feedstock to produce methane, protein, and chemicals, as part of the power-to-gas, power-to-protein, and power-to-chemicals (power-to-x) transformation. Renewable power is first utilized to split water into hydrogen and oxygen gas, which can, for example, be used as electron donor and acceptor, respectively, in our 2-stage bioprocess system. This system reduces carbon dioxide into acetate with hydrogen in the first bioreactor and then oxidizes acetate with oxygen in the second bioreactor. We are looking for a post-doctoral research associate that can build and operate anaerobic gas fermentation bioreactors at the liter scale to optimize the carbon dioxide reduction bioprocess.

Regenerative medicine is paving the way to generate functionality of biological tissues via imitating cellular, biochemical, and mechanical cues that can be integrated by employing materials science and bioengineering methods. The rapidly increasing demand for electronic medical devices come at a time when environmental and interplanetary pollution are at an all-time high. It is becoming ever-more necessary to consider the sustainability and life-cycle of emerging electronics. The project aims to apply innovative electrospinning technology to explore novel synthesis of bio-sourced polymeric nanogenerators based on conversion of mechanical energy to electric energy as implantable electronics for regenerative medicine.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Two-year postdoc position focusing on the experimental study of transnational policy learning, Department of Political Science, Aarhus University
The position will focus on (1) theorizing the mechanisms underlying politicians’ selection and use of policies from other countries to understand how they reconcile competing considerations (2) causally examining the selection and use of policies from abroad through (online) field experiments, (3) and on turning this research into high impact publications that advance our understanding of how and why politicians learn from policies from abroad. The position also includes teaching the equivalent to one course per year.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in “Modelling Chemical Reactions at the Interface of Freshly Nucleated Particles”
Aerosol particles have a large impact on our global climate by scattering sunlight and potentially acting as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). The intergovernmental panel for climate change (IPCC) has established that cloud droplet formation constitutes the largest uncertainty in global climate estimation. Half the number of formed CCN originates from freshly nucleated particles (FNPs) that grow to larger sizes. However, the formation mechanisms, composition, and properties of FNPs remain largely unknown and are very difficult to study with experimental techniques. The ERC starting grant ExploreFNP will yield insight into FNP properties using quantum chemical methods.

The Department of Geoscience currently employs around 110 staff including faculty, externally funded researchers, post-docs, Ph.D. students, and administrative and technical personnel. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc positions in Ruminant nutrition
We seek candidates with a strong background in animal science, veterinary science, or biology. The candidates should have focus and interest in nutrition of calves, heifers and/or dairy cows, and the effects of ruminant production on environment and climate. Experience in conducting animal experiments is a prerequisite, and the candidates should have a strong track-record within feeding strategies and technologies to reduce enteric methane or improve protein utilization in dairy cattle during the lactation cycle. This knowledge is expected to be transferred to use within other herbivores. The candidate must have good collaborative and English communication skills.
