We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will focus on advanced manufacturing of relevant materials for nuclear fuel. This position resides in the Advanced Fuel Fabrication and Instrumentation Group in the Nuclear Energy and Fuel Cycle Division, Fusion and Fission Energy and Science Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
The AFFI Group fabricates advanced nuclear materials and composite nuclear fuel forms to support a range of reactor applications. A primary research thrust is understanding how processing variables, composite architecture, and service conditions (e.g., corrosion, temperature, radiation) affect the structure, chemistry, and mechanical properties of these fuels and materials. As part of the research team, you will investigate powder-based additive manufacturing processes such as laser powder bed fusion, for fabrication of relevant nuclear materials, including Fe- and Ni-based alloys. We are seeking a Surface Science and Engineering Postdoctoral Research Associate who will focus on polymer surface characterization and treatment. This position resides in the Surface Engineering and Tribology Group in the Materials Structure and Processing Section, Materials Science and Technology Division (MSTD), Physical Science Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will support the Deposition Science and Technology Group in the Manufacturing Science Division (MSD), Energy Science and Technology Directorate (ESTD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to the establishment of constitutive modeling frameworks and development of computationally efficient physics emulators. These analyses will be combined with experimental data and used towards the evaluation of additively manufactured and conventionally manufactured high temperature materials. A strong background in mechanical behavior of materials is required. Demonstrated experience in the implementation of nonlinear constitutive models in commercial finite element (FE) codes is required. Strong background with probability and statistics is required. You will be expected to collaborate with research staff and industry partners focused on both conventionally fabricated and additively manufactured materials and to assist with material qualification through computational modeling.
