A postdoctoral scholar position is available for a highly motivated scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles to focus on Investigative dermatology. Our group is highly collaborative with basic programs in Immunology, Biochemistry and Proteomics at UCLA and deeply integrated into the clinical translational groups at our Medical center. Our approach will combine scRNA-seq analyses of cells and metagenomic analysis of the skin microbiome to define how strain-specific differences influence the immune responses at the site of disease.

The Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is currently recruiting for a full-time postdoctoral position in Dr. Philip Scumpia’s laboratory.

This postdoctoral position is focused on understanding how the immune system contributes to skin disease toward our understanding of cutaneous wound healing, cutaneous infection, inflammatory skin disease, vaccine biology, and skin cancer. The laboratory is affiliated with the Department of Medicine/Division of Dermatology, the I3T, Bioengineering, and the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (Tumor Cell Biology Program) at the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is currently recruiting for a full-time postdoctoral position.

This position is available immediately in the Scumpia Laboratory, which is focused on cutaneous systems biology research in the following thematic areas:

• Combining RNA-seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-seq (including single cell approaches) datasets with transgenic mice and murine models of human disease to obtain mechanistic insights into cells and molecular pathways into skin disease.

• Understand the mechanisms of skin fibrosis, regeneration, or inflammation using integrated genomic technologies and cells from transgenic/KO mice.

The Heaney Lab in the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral position to conduct research on development of novel treatment of neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Heaney’s research program focuses on disease model establishment and drug screen. Ongoing projects include identification of therapeutic targets of pituitary and other neuroendocrine tumors.

Qualified applicants must have strong oral/written communication and critical thinking skills. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in molecular endocrinology, a strong research background in tumor biology and experience working with primary cultures and mice. Candidates will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects and expand novel independent research projects in a collaborative research environment. A Ph.D. is required.

Responsibilities include experimental designs and execution, data analysis, team and conference presentation, literature reviews and paper writing. The candidate will be encouraged to collaborate broadly with research teams at UCLA and beyond and therefore must have good communication, teamwork and leadership skills. Prior experience with cutting-edge computational techniques is desired but not necessary.

The Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research, Medicine-Pediatrics Section, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a Postdoctoral position. This is a one-year and full-time postdoctoral clinical fellowship for a pre-licensed individual seeking advanced training in evidence-based treatment for mental health conditions that commonly present within interdisciplinary community settings (including substance use). The patient populations will consist of adults and adolescent patients/clients within settings that include traditional outpatient therapy settings, an innovative youth drop-in setting, and a substance use residential treatment/intensive outpatient program (IOP). A Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology is required. Individuals who fill this role will rotate through multiple clinic locations to gain the full breadth of therapeutic modalities among a diversity of Los Angeles populations served by UCLA Health and its affiliates. This individual will share patients with primary care physicians by using an interdisciplinary, collaborative treatment model and have the opportunity to accrue postdoctoral hours towards CA licensure through clinical supervision by a UCLA faculty member who is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in interdisciplinary, collaborative treatment models among adolescent and adult populations. The Edward Garon Group in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking applicants for Project Scientist positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full rank. The candidates will perform collaborative research on either biomedical informatics and computational biology in lung cancer or will lead a translational research project in the area of cancer immunotherapy. The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking applicants for a full-time, Postdoctoral position. The candidate will conduct research in HIV reservoirs and curative therapies in the context of humanized mouse models. Preferred qualifications: Familiar with techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry and/or mass cytometry, sterile technique for cell culture with BSL-2+ practices, qRT-PCR, sterile technique for bacterial culture, and animal dissection and tissue processing. Bioinformatics knowledge is preferred but is not required. The candidate should be comfortable working with BSL2+ biospecimens with HIV. A Ph.D. is required.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate interested in the interface of diabetes research and molecular imaging. This highly translatable research seeks to leverage the non-destructive, whole-body, and quantitative power of molecular imaging to directly visualize host immune-mediated rejection of allogenic β-islet grafts. The incumbent will benefit from co-mentorship from an expert in molecular imaging (Dr. Oluwatayo Ikotun) and a leading expert in Diabetes research (Dr. Daniel Kaufman). The candidate is expected to lead this research initiative and deliver on research milestones described in the collaborative research initiative funded by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). A postdoctoral position is available for a PhD or MD with experience in cellular immunology or neuroscience. The studies will focus on defining immunosuppressive factors within murine glioblastomas with the goal of designing next generation immunotherapeutics.

The Brain Tumor Drug Discovery Program within the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Scholar to participate in drug discovery for brain tumors.

Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in drug discovery, in particular in areas of DMPK science, with preferred expertise in drug discovery for CNS applications. The candidate is expected to have significant technical and practical knowledge in DMPK, including the design and/or set up of in vitro assays to measure metabolic stability, metabolite ID, permeability and efflux, CYP450 assays, and hERG interactions. Experience working with in vitro kinase assays are also required. Moreover, the candidate should have considerable expertise in in vivo profiling of blood and tissue pharmacokinetics.

The Brain Tumor Drug Discovery Program at UCLA has established an integrated translational science program, bridging biology, molecular diagnostics, and drug discovery exclusively towards the discovery and development of new therapies for malignant brain tumors. This begins with an internationally recognized team of brain tumor investigators with expertise in biology (Nathanson, Bhaduri), clinical trials (Cloughesy), drug discovery and development (Olivero and Jung), bioinformatics (Graeber) and molecular imaging (Ellingson and Czernin). This team has collectively developed multiple clinical drug candidates, including two that are currently in clinical trials for GBM patients, and designed and executed over 100 clinical trials for brain tumor patients. The laboratory of Dr. Caroline Kuo focuses on developing approaches of gene therapy of human hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) for the treatment of inborn errors of immunity. Specifically, her research revolves around both viral vector mediated gene therapy and CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing of HSC for the treatment of rare immune deficiencies. In addition, the lab investigates methods by which gene modification can be improved in the most primitive HSC. The ultimate goal is to translate ongoing projects to early phase clinical trials. Dr. Kaneko’s lab, the Interventional Translational Research Laboratory at UCLA is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to explore intracranial artery disease and flow dynamics. Our team uses a multidisciplinary approach, including in vitro cell culture, animal models, and analysis of human samples. The successful scientist will collaborate with the principal investigator and other team members to develop research plans, execute experiments, analyze data and lead projects in vascular biology, focusing on high-resolution gene expression profiling techniques.

The Translational Otolaryngology Neuroscience Laboratory at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar. This appointment will be under the supervision of Ashley E. Kita, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Head & Neck Surgery.
