(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: 1 position as a postdoc at the Faculty of Law (3 or 4 years)
There is a vacant position as a Postdoctoral Fellow connected to the Centre on the Europeanisation of Norwegian Law (CENTENOL). The research at CENTENOL will develop new knowledge about EEA law and its impact on Norwegian law. The position is linked to the Centre’s work package on the EEA law’s impact on Norwegian social security law.
The position is a fixed-term contract. The term of employment for the position is 3 years, which can be extended to 4 years if the applicant is qualified to teach in compulsory courses in the Master’s programme at the Faculty of Law.
Deadline : 1st November 2024
(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow position within Marine Biogeochemical Modelling
The position is associated with the Horizon Europe projects TipESM (https://www.tipesm.eu) and OceanICU (https://ocean-icu.eu). TipESM will explore tipping points, their driving processes, and their impacts using the latest generation of Earth System Models. Within the TipESM project, the successful applicant will analyse physical and biogeochemical tipping points in the global ocean, their downstream effects on carbon uptake, oxygen content, and nutrient availability, and their impacts on marine ecosystems. OceanICU will further increase our knowledge on the role of the ocean in the global carbon cycle, focusing in particular on the functioning of the biological carbon pump, with the aim to develop practical management tools. Within the OceanICU project, the candidate will conduct a meta study to assess the ocean carbon pumps in the context of glacial-interglacial change and how the role of biology has changed with time, and thereby providing a baseline for modelling studies of how changes in the ocean carbon sequestration mechanisms altered atmospheric CO2.
The candidate will be part of the Biogeochemistry Research Group at the Geophysical Institute, of the Carbon System Research Theme at the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. The candidate is also expected to actively engage in research collaboration across both TipESM and OceanICU, and to be motivated to perform research at an internationally competitive level.
TipESM and OceanICU are funded by the European Union, Horizon Europe Funding Programme for research and innovation under GA Nr.101137673 and GA Nr 101083922.
Deadline :3rd October 2024

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow in physical oceanography
Through the overturning circulation in the Nordic Seas and Arctic Ocean, warm Atlantic waters are transformed into cold, dense overflow waters that return to the North Atlantic and form the headwaters to the deep limb of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The focus of the ROVER project is water mass transformation near the marginal ice zone in the Nordic Seas, with particular emphasis on the East Greenland Current. Recent sea-ice loss has rendered the current increasingly ice-free in winter, resulting in substantial heat loss from the ocean to the atmosphere. We hypothesize that dense-water formation in this region will be of increasing importance for the overturning in the Nordic Seas and may even impart resilience to the AMOC in a warming climate.
Deadline : 30th September 2024
About University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway- Official Website
The University of Bergen (Norwegian: Universitetet i Bergen, Urban East Norwegian: [ʉnɪvæʂɪˈtèːtə ɪ ˈbæ̀rɡn̩]) is a research-intensive state university located in Bergen, Norway. The university today has over 4,000 employees and 18,000 students. It was established by an act of parliament in 1946 based on several older scientific institutions dating back to 1825, and is Norway’s second oldest university. It is considered one of Norway’s four “established universities” and has faculties and programmes in all the fields of a classical university including fields that are traditionally reserved by law for established universities, including medicine and law. It is also one of Norway’s leading universities in many natural sciences, including marine research and climate research. It is consistently ranked in the top one percentage among the world’s universities, usually among the best 200 universities[2] and among the best 10 or 50 universities worldwide in some fields such as earth and marine sciences. It is part of the Coimbra Group and of the U5 group of Norway’s oldest and highest ranked universities.
