Eosinophilic disorders are allergen induced lung and gastrointestinal diseases, commonly observed in both pediatric and adult patients. Our laboratory is working to understand the mechanism that is operational in inducing including Asthma, lung fibrosis, eosinophilic esophagitis and gastroenteritis by using transgene or allergen-induce mouse models.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in conjunction with the Principal Investigator to perform the following research activities: identify available transgenic and gene-deficient mice for the research study; induce eosinophilic disorders in mice by allergen challenge; maintain and  monitor  mouse colony; collect tissue and cell cultures; maintain data book and plot graphs of research experiment results; conduct patient biopsies and blood samples for translational work; and participate in regular laboratory meetings and seminars, as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately at the Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine – Section of Cardiology to conduct research in skeletal muscle biology. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Tadashi Yoshida and Dr. Patrice Delafontaine.  The project involves, but is not limited to, studying the changes in skeletal muscle molecular signaling pathways, physiology and function in multiple chronic disease models including cardiovascular disease and cancer.  The position involves both in vitro and in vivo studies.  Experience in both basic molecular biology and in handling rodents is highly desirable.

The laboratory of Dr. Yan Dong at Tulane University School of Medicine, YDongTulane, is seeking two postdoctoral fellows who are highly motivated and devoted to research. Research in the laboratory focuses on molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer progression and therapeutic resistance. In particular, we have been investigating the mechanisms by which androgen receptor splice variants mediate resistance of prostate cancer to androgen deprivation therapy. We are also characterizing other proteins and non-coding RNAs that are critically involved in prostate cancer progression. 

The Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will be responsible for studying the biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying the regulations of the p53-MDM2 loop, mutant p53s, and the c-Myc pathway in response to various signals and to identify small molecules that can suppress tumor growth by re-activating p53 activity in human cancer cells and mouse tumor model systems including genetically manipulated mouse models, such as p53-null, MDM2-C305/MDM4-3SA double knockin, CCDC3-null, TA-p63-null, PHLDB3-null, and p53-R249S knockin mouse models.

The anticipated start date for the position is between May 1 and September 30, 2022. Appointments are for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.

 

The position will be centered on modeling climate-plant-water interactions in salt-affected ecosystems, with a specific focus on coastal wetlands and their vulnerability to sea-level rise and salinization. The work will require developing simplified models of the plant hydraulics under osmotic stress and designing their upscaling to larger (plot up to ecosystem) scales for hydrologic and climate modeling applications. Prior experience with the parametrization of plant hydraulic traits and stochastic modeling, and familiarity with eddy covariance methods and data are strongly preferred.

The Division of Microbiology, Tulane National Primate Research Center has an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigator and assistance of the Laboratory Supervisor, this individual will work in active research projects that investigate mucosal immunity during HIV infection and aging using the nonhuman primate model as well as development of immunotherapy including CAR-T cells. The neutron physics group at Tulane University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to participate in two cold neutron beam experiments: BL3, a next generation beam neutron lifetime experiment, now under construction; and parity-violating neutron spin rotation in liquid helium. Both experiments will run at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The position is based at Tulane, but will be located primarily at the experimental integration site at Indiana University (Bloomington) and will involve travel to the NCNR.

The Huang Lab aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of liver cancer development associated with alcoholic liver diseases and non-alcoholic liver diseases. We are looking for a talented and motivated post-doctoral fellow who is enthusiastic about liver research and drug delivery for treating liver malignancy.  

The successful candidate who is a recent PhD graduate will be expected to conduct original research using cells and mouse models to study the molecular mechanisms of disease progression. The Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic New Orleans (EPIC-NOLA) is recruiting for a one-year clinical psychology fellowship position expected to start in January 2024. EPIC-NOLA includes an early detection and intervention service integrated with several clinical and services level research projects. EPIC-NOLA hosts a Learning Health System (LHS) with a custom-built informatics platform to support quality improvement and practice-based research. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of a child psychologist and the Medical Director at EPIC-NOLA and with a child psychiatric fellow to assess all clinical high-risk referrals for attenuated psychosis syndrome (APS). The Fellow will administer structured assessments and monitor patients who meet criteria for APS via psychotherapy and other supportive services. The Fellow should be enthusiastic about working with an interdisciplinary team to collect and analyze data and publish their work.

The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) at Tulane University seeks a Visiting Mid-Career Research Fellow for the Spring 2025 academic semester. The Center supports empirical research in the fields of international relations, international political economy, comparative politics, political sociology, and policy studies.  Latin American expertise and Spanish or Portuguese fluency are required. A fellow will be selected based on intellectual merit, experience, and the potential impact of their planned research for CIPR programs.

 The fellow will pursue research and contribute to the intellectual life of their disciplinary department, CIPR, and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies.  They are expected to participate in weekly CIPR seminars and workshops, as well as lectures, conferences, and other events organized by the Center. The fellow will collaborate with resident faculty and students on projects of mutual interest in addition to developing their independent research agendas on related topics, as well as mentor junior colleagues at the Center when possible.

The Social Memory Lab, directed by Dr. Ben Deen, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow. The lab studies social perception, cognition, and memory, with the goal of characterizing the cognitive and neural basis or our ability to understand other people. We use behavioral and neuroimaging (fMRI) methods in humans, with a focus on precision imaging of functional organization in individual brains. Specific research projects within that scope are flexible and dependent on the interests of the candidate. A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the Division of Immunology at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, affiliated with the School of Medicine at Tulane University. Candidates will investigate the HIV-1/SIV reservoir as it relates to mechanisms of HIV-1 persistence. The overall research focus of the lab is to investigate the role persistent co-pathogens such as CMV in driving HIV-1 reservoir persistence. The lab explores these questions in nonhuman primate models of HIV-1 infection, and the candidate will spearhead a ~30 animal study to understand how the SIV reservoir evolves in the presence or absence of persistent co-pathogens. The candidate should be proficient in flow cytometry, tissue culture, and PCR-based measures of HIV-1/SIV persistence, including total and intact SIV DNA quantification by digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), and qualitative assays to assess HIV-1/SIV integration sites. A working knowledge of R and command-line processing tools is also needed. The candidate should be able to work independently under minimal supervision under biosafety level 2 conditions and maintain detailed experimental records. The postdoctoral fellow should also have some experience submitting jobs to a high-performance computing cluster. Finally, the postdoctoral candidate will assist in daily operational functions of the laboratory, and train, supervise and monitor the performance of lab technical staff and students, as required by the Principal Investigator.
