We search for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of phage biology and phage engineering with a focus on augmentation of phage efficacy using genetic engineering.

As a member of the Fossati lab, you will apply and develop novel genetic screenings (based on CRISPRi) to characterize phage genes influencing clinical efficacy against bacterial pathogens, characterize them in their molecular context using interaction proteomics (affinity purification, proximity labelling, co-fractionation mass spectrometry, etc) and engineer ‘super-phages’ displaying increase efficacy against clinical isolates.  As a postdoctoral researcher, you will assume a prominent role in project design and management, oversee data generation, conduct analyses, and provide insightful interpretations. Collaboration with fellow team members, other groups at KI/SciLifeLab will be a key aspect of your role. You will be responsible for disseminating scientific findings through the authorship of research papers, active participation in scientific conferences, and effective communication with colleagues. The candidate must hold a PhD equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree in the field of immunology. The candidate must fully master multidimensional (>20 parameters) flow cytometry analysis and sorting, as well as be experienced in scRNAseq. The candidate should be familiar with R software and have some experience analyzing scRNAseq data. Experience in isolation and in vitro culturing of primary immune cells is a requirement, as is basic functional in vitro assessments of immune cell function such as intracellular cytokine stainings, ELISA etc. The candidate should have a strong publication track-record. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communications skills and a proven ability to interact effectively and work productively in an interdiciplinary team. Fluency in English is a requirement as well as some basic skills and willingness to learn Swedish.

The research will focus on the functional investigation of neurons and circuits during motivated behaviors through a number of advanced circuit approaches to target, record and manipulate molecularly defined neurons. The project will address the in vivo role of molecularly defined neuron subtypes in the basal ganglia, hypothalamus, and the lateral habenula. The project will involve the use and development of genetically modified mice to target neuron subtypes using in vivo optogenetics and behavioral paradigms (freely moving and head-fixed) to define the contribution of specific circuits to motivated and aversive behavior. The project will benefit from ongoing projects that have established the identity and connectivity of neuron subtypes in relevant circuits based on single cell RNA-seq and monosynaptic rabies tracing.

We expect applicants to have a strong determination to reveal the function of neurons and circuits during behavior, with extensive experience and interest in behavior, imaging/optical methods and/or electrophysiology. Advanced knowledge in quantitative methods, statistics and programming, are required.

The research will focus on how neuron subtypes are connected in local and long-range circuitries and the underlying molecular signals that define cell-type specific connectivity. We are looking for a postdoc to join our team,  with a strong experimental and statistical background with great interest in using new single-cell tools to better define the complexity of cell types and circuits in the nervous system.

The postdoctoral fellow will use long-read single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, together with viral-based approaches (e.g. barcoded rabies viruses) to define the molecular organization of brain circuits, the identity of neuron subtypes, and how neuronal diversity helps explain functional complexity.

The candidate must have extensive experience using advanced molecular and/or viral methods to define cell types, for example single-cell RNA sequencing or spatial transcriptomics, and a strong analytical and statistical background. The candidate must have a strong publication track-record with at least one first-author publication.

We are seeking a skilled bioinformatician post-doctoral level to strengthen our research team. You should be proficient in analyzing and integrating spatial multi-omics dataset, genomics and epidemiological data. The primary focus of your role is to deepen our mechanistic understanding of ascending aortic aneurysm and heart valve disease and unravel the potential genetic contribution to disease development. You will work closely in a team with molecular biologists, laboratory technicians, clinicians, PhD-students and another bioinformatician. We expect you to work in a diligent and responsible way.

The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project leaded by Dr. Ilaria Piazza. The Piazza laboratory (Piazza Lab) uses mass spectrometry-based approaches to study protein interactions in cell and tissues integrating proteomics and metabolomics data. The Piazza laboratory is based both at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (SciLifeLab) and at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin.

The available postdoctoral position concerns developing and applying novel genetic and biochemistry approaches to study the crosstalk between gene expression and the metabolome. The candidate will work in the context of an ERC project (porteoRAGE) led by Dr. Piazza. The recruited candidate will focus on engineering massive collections of S. cerevisiae strains to enable the study of the allosteric regulation of gene expression. The candidate will the phenotypic information derived from such collection to generate and validate hypothesis. The candidate will integrate different experimental and computational approaches for the completion of the project, including genomics, yeast genetics, high-throughput biology approaches and bioinformatics. The candidate will perform original research in synthetic biology, genomic, proteomics and structural biology, and acquire the required experimental and computational skills necessary for the completion of the project.

The candidate is expected to communicate the scientific results by writing up scientific papers and attending scientific meetings. We seek a cell biologist/immunologist motivated to work in translational research in the field of autoimmunity. The current project aims to produce monoclonal antibodies, characterize them and to understand their role in disease. Key tasks involve the use of B cell repertoire sequencing using primary cells from patients with autoimmune myositis and healthy donors, antibody engineering, affinity chromatography, transfection of cell lines, ELISA and cell culture including myoblasts and myotubes. Mitochondria are sub-cellular organelles essential for eukaryotic cell function, and their dysfunction has been implicated in a variety of hereditary diseases, ageing, cancer and immunity. The correct expression of mitochondrial DNA is essential for mitochondrial function. The aim of studies in Rorbach group is to identify the pathways and factors important to human diseases and improve our understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of mitochondrial function. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) targeting inhibitory receptors have shown clinical efficacy against a variety of cancers. Treatment with ICI is however associated with immune adverse events (ir-AEs) that are very common and can target any type of tissue. Here, the research work will focus on ir-AE targeting the synovial joint and leading to arthritis, which very often become chronic and requires chronic immunosuppressive treatment. The aim of your research work will be to analyze immune cell subsets and signatures in the synovial joint and blood in these patients. The candidate will be responsible to oversee and perform the single cell sequencing analysis (10X genomics) using appropriate control steps. The mission will include figure and manuscript preparation, electronic lab book reports, lab presentations. The candidate is expected to provide bioinformatic support for additional projects within the group. Depending on the candidate profile, cell sorting, and validation experiments will be part of the post-doc mission.

Rollen som postdoktor innefattar även samverkan med neurologiska klinikerna inom Region Stockholm då vi bland annat kommer samla patientprover. Stamceller ska användas till att skapa in vitro modeller för att undersöka genetisk bakgrund, ålder och klinisk fenotyp i relation till skyddande mekanismer hos framförallt mikroglia samt hur aktiviteten hos dessa kan monitoreras kliniskt i bland annat cerebrospinalvätska.  

The main task for a postdoctoral researcher in our research group is to produce scientific articles for publication in appropriate journals and other recognized media including all steps from study design, experimentation, data and statistical analysis, and scientific writing. Thus, is expected to play a leading role in group’s daily activities, such as processing routine samples, to develop new projects as well as to be a part in ongoing projects within group’s research areas. You will work in a diverse team and perform experimental work within a research laboratory environment. Flow cytometry as well as various cell and molecular biology methods and techniques are used to analyze patient material in our studies. Processing patient samples (blood or tissues), performing analyses, such as FACS, ELISA or PCR, are routine parts of the job in different projects. The applicant is also expected to supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory, present research and results at international conferences, and participate in writing grant applications. Performing administrative duties is also part of the job.

Sjukhusen finns inte bara i Sverige men även i andra länder så som Australien, Tyskland, Finland m fl. Du kommer att ha ansvar för att monitorera deltagarnas träningsaktiviteter i en träningsapp och deras smartklockor (Fitbit), återkoppla med motivation och råd till deltagarna, se till att sjukhusen har allt stöd och material de behöver för att ta hand om sina deltagare, och monitorera svarsfrekvensen på studiens patientenkäter. Du kommer också att samordna och registrera insamling av blod- och vävnadsprover i studien (bara inom Stockholm). Utöver det kommer du att få samarbeta med teamet på Rörelseglädjen, ett träningslabb på Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, där du får lära dig utföra fysiska tester på deltagare och stötta dem i sin träning under studiens gång.

Du kommer att jobba i vårt team med en validering av träningsinterventionen (som ges via en träningsapp), interimanalysen som ska utvärdera om interventionen åstadkommer tillräckligt hög träningsintensitet i interventionsgruppen, och andra undersökningar under studiens gång. The project aims to tackle the rules of antigen recognition by γδT cells. Of the three classes of lymphocytes that constitute the adaptive immune system of jawed vertebrates, γδT cells are the only class for which principles of antigen recognition remain enigmatic and the nature of the antigens is largely elusive. Screens performed by the Kreslavsky lab have recently identified several novel unexpected γδT cell receptor (γδTCR) ligands (see link for further details). In this project, we will combine immunological expertise of the Kreslavsky lab with the structural biology expertise of the Rorbach lab to solve structures of γδTCRs with their unusual ligands. This in turn will shed light on the rules of antigen recognition of these mysterious cells, and through that – on their functions in immune responses against pathogens and cancer cells.

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the Women’s Mental Health Group at IMM led by Associate Professor Donghao Lu. Dr. Lu leads a comprehensive program to understand the underlying biological mechanisms affecting reproductive mood disorders (such as perinatal depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, perimenopausal depression, etc.) and potential health consequences leveraging large population-based cohorts with rich clinical and molecular data.

We are looking for an outstanding multi-omics bioinformatics scientist with strong analytical and programming skills working on cancer omics data. The candidate should develop, set up, maintain and update bioinformatics pipelines to integrate tumor data from different technologies (including genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics). The aim is to generate novel knowledge about the tumor biology, discover tumor antigens, and associate the findings with emerging anti-cancer therapies, particularly towards targeted immunotherapies. The bioinformatician is also expected to develop tools to facilitate the translation of the work into new clinical initiatives.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will develop a cell-based assay that can be used in a high-content screen for small molecules that stimulate the clearance of neurodegeneration-associated proteins. A variety of cell biology techniques will be used to reach this goal. These techniques include, but are not limited to, advanced molecular biology, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, cell culture, high-throughput screening and genetic manipulation.
