Your research project must cover the early translational stages T₀ (Disease modelling, Omics studies, Basic Research) -T₁ (Biomarker discovery, Target development, Preclinical development) and should bridge a basic biomedical research environment and a clinical research environment, making the research project interdisciplinary in its nature. The project may also cover early T2 (First in human, phase 1 clinical trials, phase 2 clinical trials, phase 2b clinical trials), but this is not a requirement.

Your project must be at the postdoctoral level, should address a relevant medical challenge and should be ambitious yet feasible within the timeframe of two years. Your research project must be developed in collaboration with your Mentor Team and is an important part of the recruitment process to become a BRIDGE Fellow.

Appointed fellows spend 80% of their time on individual translational research projects mentored by a Mentor Team consisting of a basic biomedical scientist from a SUND Department or Centre, and a clinical scientist from a hospital in the Capital Region of Denmark or Region Zealand and/or from the life science industry. Additional mentors from other departments and universities in Denmark are encouraged if relevant.

Machine learning algorithms are increasingly being deployed in real-world systems that utilize user data for training or interact directly with individuals—often making decisions that have significant impacts on people’s lives. In this context, ensuring the trustworthiness of these systems, particularly concerning privacy, unlearning, and/or robustness, is important. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct theoretical and/or empirical research on privacy and/or robustness in machine learning.

We seek an ambitious and highly motivated candidate with a PhD in natural sciences with strong expertise in ecosystem modeling, atmosphere chemistry modeling, earth system modeling, or similar. A demonstrated coding experience with languages such as Python, C++, or fortran could be a plus. Some experience with and knowledge of ecosystem-level VOC emissions or atmospheric chemistry is also a plus. The successful candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary research group working on various aspects of normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology including associated diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia. The candidate(s) will use advanced CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technologies in primary human and murine hematopoietic stem cells to functionally assess novel regulators of normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology. These regulators were identified by advanced proteomics technologies and their expression patterns are to a large degree governed by non-transcriptional mechanisms. There will be a large degree of freedom for the candidate(s) to shape and drive the research projects forward.

The Center for Quantum Devices at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on developing solid-state quantum technologies for practical quantum education and quantum workforce training. Biomolecular self-assembly is a key process in physics and chemistry and rules the correct functioning of living systems. In addition, many of the most prevalent human neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer´s and Parkinson´s, are characterised by the presence of so-called amyloid aggregates in the brain, which are the result of protein self-assembly. Several of the proteins identified in amyloid aggregates have been shown to undergo a process called liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS). The project aims to study intra and inter-protein interactions that initiate LLPS in intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) systems using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) combined with microscopy and spectroscopic techniques. The project is funded by the Villum Foundation to Professor Vito Foderà (Department of Pharmacy), and in collaboration with the University of Cambridge (UK).

Department of Plant and Environmental Science, Section for Plant Biochemistry, invites applicants for several postdoctoral positions within the topics of using computational biology and artificial intelligence to understand gene function in plants. This project will explore the potential to use human DNA recovered from sediments for forensic applications, in particular for human identification. A focus will be on performing foundational experiments to set expectations and best practices for sampling and analysis. The positions are funded by a Carlsberg Semper Ardens grant in ‘Meiofauna genomics’ to Professor Katrine Worsaae. Exploiting the vast development in molecular techniques we wish to resolve the relationships of all phyla in the Animal Tree of Life, including chromosome level genomes of >30 microscopic lineages (meiofauna). Through phylogenomics and comparative genomics we seek a more complete understanding of animal evolution and miniaturization, elucidating the underpinning genomic mechanisms and the phenotypic consequences hereof.

The postdocs will be part of this large-scale collaborative project, conducting phylogenomics and comparative genomics of either of the two large metazoan clades, Ecdysozoa or Spiralia, and investigating the origin of meiofaunal lineages herein.

Each postdoc is expected to participate in the design of experiments and meiofaunal field- and labwork, perform bioinformatic analyses, present results, and prepare manuscripts for publication. Important research approaches will include full genome sequencing and assembly, phylogenomic analyses and comparative genomics. The postdoc’s duties will include research on meiofaunal genomics, student supervision, as well as (limited) teaching.

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in the intersection of food, nutrition, and health to contribute to updating the current NOVA classification of foods. Responsibilities include gathering research insights, networking, organizing events/workshops, and drafting consensus and review papers. The position may also include teaching and additional tasks.

The project, “Aesthetic atmosphere. An investigation in Phenomenological Psychology,” is located at Center for Phenomenological Psychology and Aesthetics at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen. The overarching aim of the project is to show how atmospheres, while often vague and fluctuating, influence our affective life. In the postdoctoral subproject, experiences with architecture will form the empirical basis for the study. The research questions are: 1) How are atmospheres experienced in relation to architecture? 2) What are the essential characteristics of the experience of architectural atmospheres? 3) What are the momentary versus lasting influences of experiencing architectural atmospheres? The empirical part of the subproject will be based on qualitative interviews in Denmark. The analyses of the empirical material should be grounded in the descriptive method of phenomenological psychology developed by Amadeo Giorgi to obtain an overview of atmospheric experiences as well as capturing their fine-grained details. This approach must be supplemented with the micro-phenomenological method developed by Claire Petitmengin. The overarching theoretical framework is phenomenological psychology, combined with phenomenological theory on aesthetics, architecture, and subjectivity.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with a strong background in biochemistry, mass spectrometry, cell biology, virology, or immunology for the project.

Across the Nordic countries the need for an accelerated green transition is increasingly conflicting with other environmental and social challenges, including the unequal distribution of burdens, nature degradation, and the violation of the rights and interests of local people. Such tensions lead to social backlash, decreasing legitimacy, and, ultimately, delay or cancellation of projects. While civic participation traditionally the primary strategy for ensuring legitimacy, it is evident that current participatory practices are insufficient in and challenged by an acceleration context characterised by growing scale (more and bigger projects), scope (involving more and more sectors e.g., via PtX, grid development, and CCUS) and speed (urgency and ambitious policy goals) of the green transition. LEGIT brings together insights from, on the one hand, legitimacy and participation research with, on the other hand, recent theorizing on acceleration within Sustainability Transitions research to interrogate topics as ‘responsible acceleration’ and ‘sociotechnical tipping points’ in the search for answers to acceleration challenges. 

The Postdoc will focus the Danish context for these issues with attention to the changing strategies of actors (e.g., local and national policymakers, businesses, energy-users, and civil society actors) for coping with new legitimacy challenges, and how institutional and policy contexts shape participatory practices related to the diffusion of green innovations. The postdoc will work in a Nordic team of interdisciplinary researchers across the partners including Syke (Finland), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), NIFU (Norway) and Linköping University (Sweden).

The successful applicants will become part of the project entitled, NewWorkTech. From the margins to the masses: Standard practices and innovative uses of technology in augmenting different abilities of people in the world of work, funded through a Horizon Europe Grant, 2025-2029.

The project focus on technologically mediated tasks and interaction among people with impairments. It explores how people with disabilities – as forerunners of technology use – perform tasks and interact at work. The project uses the data for theoretical innovation regarding the nature of socio-material assemblages and what constitutes technology, to policy recommendations and the development of new technological solutions, including AI-based technologies. NGO partners are actively involved as facilitators in the empirical research and as drivers of application and dissemination. It is a large EU project with several partners and different work packages. The two postdocs will be employed at NorS, where Associate Professor Brian L. Due leads one work package in the project. This work package focuses on collecting and analysing video ethnographic data from workplaces.  

The successful candidate will primarily work on a project investigating the observation-based instrument, Alarm Distress Baby Scale (ADBB), in the Danish ADBB Infancy Cohort with data from the health visitors’ assessments during the first year of infants born in 63 Danish municipalities. By combing information gathered from single particle tracking with bulk studies, this project aims to decipher how excipients affect cellular uptake and endosomal release.

The project lies in the interface of pharmaceutical sciences, cell biology, biophysics and nanoscience and requires extensive cell studies, advanced single particle and single cell imaging as well as statistical analysis. The postdoc will aim to quantify diffusion of small molecule pharmaceutics and peptides within cell culture models. During the project, the student is expected to both perform cell studies and advanced single cell measurements, and treat the high-quality, high-volume data.

The Cardiac Proteomics Group at Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint a talented postdoctoral fellow to outline protein regulations involved in the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic syndrome. The research fellow will investigate remodeling in hearts from animal models, patient samples as well as cell systems using quantitative proteomics-based approaches to identify molecular changes driving the disease state. The vision of SEEDFOOD is to accelerate the transition from animal- to plant-based food proteins for sustainable food production and consumption. We will achieve this by tailoring plant protein ingredients with superior functional, palatable, and nutritional properties through novel protein design and in-depth understanding of molecular interactions in the food matrix.

We will use rapeseed protein to obtain new insights underpinning the scientific foundation to promote the use of seed storage proteins for foods. Rapeseed is a protein-rich crop used for industrial oil production. It is farmed on a large scale in Europe and may be utilized in new food types locally across the globe. In SEEDFOOD we will create knowledge to sustainably transform poor functionality of plant seed storage proteins and rationally tailor protein performance for future food design. Scientific themes in SEEDFOOD encompass: gentle and sustainable processing to isolate seed proteins; improvement of protein surface characteristics through enzyme treatments; biophysics of protein structures and molecular interactions; functionality and palatability in model foods.

The successful candidate will focus on the use of advanced multivariate data analysis on a wide range of different analytical data from unmodified and modified rapeseed proteins. The aim of the work is to develop predictive models to guide processing and modification for desired functionalities based on the data that the different project partners are generating. The candidate is therefore expected to discuss the data from each partner to get a deep understanding of how the data can be used for the predictive models. The candidate will also be expected to do a certain amount of lab work, mainly spectroscopic in nature.

The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a unique two-year postdoctoral position with possibility for further extension. The successful candidate will engage in developing innovative robot control and navigation techniques using simulation-based learning. This exciting opportunity focuses on two key challenges. The first is to create reward functions for scoring navigation policies for medical intraluminal robotic devices to move inside the human body, e.g., the colon, relying solely on image information, and accounting for the changing environment through interaction models. The successful candidate will start with the focus on analytical chemistry relating to functionality and flavor of plant-based- and dairy raw materials and hybrid cheeses. Specifically, the candidate will be translating spectroscopic signals from near infrared (NIR) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy into informative attributes describing the functionality. The PostDoc fellowship will be carried out in the Bacterial Infection Biology (BIB) group at Costerton Biofilm Center. The BIB group offers a well-established platform for studying biofilm infections. We focus on the establishment of infecting biofilms, the cross-link between the host and infecting bacteria to improve diagnostics and treatment. The group conducts both basic and applied research on the molecular level as well as on a broader scale. We are looking for candidates within the field of computational chemistry. Applicants can have a background in cheminformatics including RDKit, machine learning applied to chemistry, and molecular modeling

The main objectives of the postdoc work will be contribution and development concerning ongoing as well as new activities addressing the biogeochemical dynamics of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in soil. The research has a specific focus to utilize stable isotope analysis for explain the dynamics of isotopes in soluble and reactive components, e.g. TOC/TN, mineral N, and gaseous forms of N and C.

The work will include implementation of newly achieved isotope instrumentation for soluble C analysis as well as facilitation and improvement of gaseous isotope analysis. This work is linked to two ongoing projects (Land-CRAFT.dk) and “KlimaKalk” (Climate-chalk) and will be in a close collaboration with scientists from IGN-geography as well as national and international collaborators.

The candidate must have a strong background in soil CN-biogeochemistry and notably knowledge about stable isotope analysis will be considered favorable. An interest in working with advanced instruments (IRMS and isotope lasers) is expected for this position.

The postdoc’s duties will include research outlined above, as well as teaching and supervision of BSc-, MSc- and PhD-students.

The successful postdoc candidate will undertake an independent research project, designed to fit the overall research agenda of AI-UNI. The postdoc will be expected to design and conduct a linguistic ethnographic case study focussing on the use of text- generative AI as part of research practices in the natural sciences or health sciences. The case study will revolve around one or two research groups (or similar university research unit). Following an initial period of observation, specific practices that involve the use of generative AI should be selected for detailed study in the remaining time of the field work.

Applicants are expected to outline a proposed research design for their case study as part of the application (see details below). The proposed postdoc project should allow the candidate to explore how text-generative AI is used as part of academic practices and critically assess the associated implications for research. The project should fall within the general framework of linguistic ethnography. This means that we welcome projects that include e.g. participant observation, recordings of textual practices and social interaction in offline and online environments, as well as ethnographic interviews and feedback sessions with participants. Theoretically, the postdoc project should contribute to the host project’s understanding of the use of text-generative AI at the university as a site of sociolinguistic change with potential implications for how we conceptualize the notions of literacy and voice in sociolinguistics.

The specific focus and details of the postdoc project will be decided in collaboration with the host project PI, based on the ideas presented in the project description and the overall research interests of the AI-UNI project. The postdoc will be supervised by Professor Janus Mortensen.

The position is part of the Level up your money game project which runs from 2025 to 2027 and is funded by the Velux foundation. The candidate’s research activities will contribute to the project’s empirical studies of children and young people’s economic socialisation at the intersection between gaming and finance.

Level up your money game addresses children and young peoples ‘money games’ in online environments. With money games we refer to the ongoing convergence between gaming and finance as virtual game economies intersect with wider speculative trading on the internet, new types of ‘finfluencers’ emerge on social media platforms, gaming discourses spread across the financial sector, and gamification techniques are put to use on retail investment platforms. The project addresses children and young people’s money games in this digital environment at the level of social practices, creator strategies and platform models. To do this, the project will combine qualitative fieldwork, digital methods and political economic analysis.

We are especially interested in applicants with theoretical and empirical qualifications from within the broad field of digital media and communications research. Experience with creative industry studies with an emphasis on gaming and familiarity with programming and API-based data collection is an advantage.
