Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Fellow – Immunology

The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University seeks outstanding postdoctoral applicants with expertise in immunology, specifically non-human primates or adoptive cell therapies to join an interdisciplinary team of biologists and engineers to leverage in vitro organ-on-a-chip (Organ Chip) microfluidic culture systems and injectable formulations to study and model adaptive immunity in vaccines, radiation toxicity, Lyme disease and lung and female reproductive tract cancers.  The position is within a team lead by Dr. Don Ingber and Dr. Girija Goyal which is developing model systems to help pharma and regulatory authorities make better decisions and therapies and therapies to treat these diseases. In addition to contributing to or leading the publication of research articles, this role provides the opportunity to present your research to regulatory agencies, investors, pharma companies etc. This role may also provide the opportunity to join a spin-out company as part of the founding team.

Postdoc summary/title: Visiting Graduate Researcher – Brain-Targeted Nanoparticles

The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University invites applications for a Visiting Graduate Researcher position in the Brain Targeting Program (BTP). The Wyss Institute’s BTP, co-led by James Gorman, M.D., Ph.D. and Donald Ingber, M.D., Ph.D., is pursuing multiple projects directed to improved methods of transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) into the brain, with the aim of improving treatments for diverse diseases of the central nervous system.

The applicant is expected to participate in the research topic “Brain-targeted nanoparticles: Better treatment of brain diseases”. This project aims to discover a brain-targeted nanoparticle platform to effectively transport a variety of therapeutics across the BBB into the brain

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Aryl hydrocarbon receptor

Postdoctoral research fellowship to study the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) in mediating tissue homeostasis and repair, relevant to the development and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and atherosclerosis, as well as cancer immunity. The project will focus on the evaluation of AHR as a modulator of immune and inflammatory mediated disorders, protein interaction networks, cell metabolism, and tissue repair using animal models and organoid assay systems (Science Advances 2020; 6:eaay8230). The candidate is expected to closely interact with an interdisciplinary team of immunologists, medicinal chemists, pathologists, and biomedical engineers. PhD in molecular or cell biology, immunology, biomedical engineering or related discipline required.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Multiplex Genome Editing and Stem Cell Engineering with a Focus on Cell-based Therapies and Tissue Engineering

The candidate will join the Chaikof lab at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is expected to closely interact with an interdisciplinary team of immunologists, biomedical engineers, developmental biologists, and clinician-investigators. The project will focus on the evaluation of strategies to engineer human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) that evade both the adaptive and innate immune mechanisms of immune rejection. In the process, continuous and scalable bioprinting processes will be utilized to generate engineered extracellular matrices for blood vessel fabrication. The biomechanical and biological responses of engineered blood vessel equivalents will be investigated in vitro and in vivo.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – 3D Bioprinting of Functional Kidney Tissues

The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University seeks a talented Postdoctoral Fellow who is an engineer interested in biology research, or a biologist looking for engineering applications to join our Kidney team. Led by Jennifer Lewis and with technical guidance from the multidisciplinary bioprinting research team, you will work to complete independent and team research projects involving 3D bioprinting using stem-cell derived human kidney organoids. The work will focus on building from organ-on-chip platforms to more functional organ-level tissues. Projects in our lab typically span multiple disciplines, so we welcome applicants from many backgrounds. Successful applicants typically have some level of hands-on experience designing and fabricating devices or have strong background in relevant biological assays.
