Postdoc summary/title: Postdoc

This postdoc will work in ESHPM’s growing Global Health Theme chaired by Professor Matthias Rieger. The postdoc will also develop research together with Professor Owen O’Donnell and other faculty members in the field of global health economics.

ESHPM’s Global Health Theme covers the behavioral and socio-economic determinants of health as well as international health care systems. The postdoc will join researchers in our team working on shifting disease burdens and the growing importance of non-communicable diseases, economic determinants of health and nutrition across the globe, influencing health and nutrition behaviors, as well as health inequalities within and between countries. We are working closely with partners in South-East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The postdoc trained in economics or related fields will be partly embedded in ongoing projects around pressing global health challenges. The focus is on health or development economic research using causal, econometric techniques or RCTs on the demand or supply side of health in low-resource settings. The postdoc will work on impact evaluations of health policy changes or shocks at the local or national level or specific interventions targeted at vulnerable groups of patients and segments of the population (e.g. children, adolescents, families). (04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc study: resistance to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

Joining us at RSMOpens external on this project, you help to investigate the role of employee resistance in shaping the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of DEI initiatives in the workplace, with a particular focus on covert forms of resistance, such as subtle non-compliance and sabotage. As our postdoc researcher in this area, you contribute to two key areas: (1) exploring how these indirect, often hidden acts of resistance can undermine the success of DEI initiatives; and (2) designing and testing interventions aimed at reducing or mitigating the emergence and negative impact of these kinds of resistance.

In global surveys, the majority of firms indicate that diversity is an important value or priority. Many organisations employ DEI initiatives that aim to enhance the representation and inclusion of traditionally underrepresented groups such as women and ethnic minorities. These initiatives, however, often struggle to achieve their intended goals and, in some cases, may even backfire, leading to unintended negative outcomes. This research will build upon these earlier perspectives and contribute to a deeper understanding of the (in)effectiveness of these initiatives as well as examine interventions.

Being our postdoc researcher, you become part of a team that includes Dr Seval GündemirOpens external (PI), Prof. Inga J. Hoever, Dr Rouven Kanitz, and PhD student Tianqi Peng, MSc.
