The HEXAPIC project aims to develop a novel high-performance Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code for plasma physics simulations, leveraging the capabilities of exascale computing systems. By optimising PIC algorithms for modern heterogeneous architectures, including CPUs, GPUs, and other accelerators, the project seeks to achieve unprecedented efficiency and resolution in plasma simulations. This advancement will enable high-fidelity modelling of complex plasma processes, contributing significantly to fields such as fusion reactor design, material deposition technologies, and space propulsion systems. This is a fully funded postdoc position for 2 years within an EU project (XTRUST-6G: Extended zero-trust and intelligent security for resilient and quantum-safe 6G networks and services). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, exploring the design, implementation and instantiation of Luxembourg’s digital identity wallet and the European digital identity wallets (EUDIW) and their implications on privacy and security, as well as other technical, organizational, and regulatory aspects. The selected candidate shall develop a machine learning-based approach that integrates different types of OMICs data for interrogating biological pathways and genes linking aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Furthermore, combining this approach with a protein network-based model the candidate shall identify drug targets and predictive markers for AD. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with Prof. Michael Heneka at the LCSB, who will also conduct the experimental validation of the computational predictions.

The Research Scientist in Nursing Science will be attached to the University on a full-time basis. The candidate will contribute to Ice2Thrust.space, an EIC Pathfinder project with TU Munich, Endurosat, and Tech-Tour. The project advances autonomous spacecraft docking, propellant refilling, and in-orbit servicing while exploring water extraction for a circular space economy. This research initiative aims to accelerate drug repurposing for rare neurological, neurometabolic, and neuromuscular disorders by leveraging shared clinical and molecular pathology mechanisms. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge translational neuroscience research, integrating stem cell models, high-throughput drug screening, and innovative clinical trial designs.
