Dr. Kim’s laboratory is focused on identifying novel therapeutic strategies to provide neuroprotection and improve functional recovery after ischemic stroke. In vivo animal models, slice electrophysiology, histological/immunohistochemically analysis of cell death, flow cytometry, and neurobehavioral testing are utilized for the interdisciplinary studies performed in our laboratory. The applicant will be responsible for on-boarding and developmental training of new staff with the utilization of biochemical, histological and molecular biology methods to analyze signaling and mechanism in the post-ischemic brain. The position will be responsible for design, execution and management of research project as well as assist in the preparation of research manuscript and preparation of presentations at national and international conference/workshops. Specific ongoing projects the applicant will participate in include the role of novel immune-based therapeutic interventions to enhance functional recovery.

We are seeking a Postdoc with strong bioinformatics/computational biology skills to join our team, the Harari Lab. Our mission is to further the understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias to improve diagnostics, quality of life and treatment options for those with neurodegenerative diseases. The Postdoc will work with large scale genomic and genetics data, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), GWAS chip data, Single Cell Transcriptomics (scRNA-seq, single cell ATAC-seq and spatial transcriptomics and other high throughput omics data in the study of neurodegeneration. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop and implement new methods for research, take the lead on research projects, write manuscripts and grant proposals, and present results of that research at internationally recognized conferences.

Research Associate designs, executes and manages research projects conducting preclinical studies in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory in the Preclinical Therapeutics Mouse Modeling Shared Resource (PTMMSR) core facility. We are seeking a Postdoc with strong bioinformatics / Statistical Genetics skills to join us. Our mission is to advance the understanding of the genetic architecture of complex human diseases and traits and to improve our ability to predict disease, target disease prevention in high-risk individuals, and tailor treatment based on individual genomic differences. The research specialist will work on large-scale genetic data analysis, risk prediction, single-cell RNAseq, and implementation of methods for studying complex human diseases, such as glaucoma and retinal diseases. The candidate will have the opportunity to take the lead on research projects, write manuscripts, and present the research results at international conferences.

The Postdoctoral scholar will conduct research under the mentorship of Dr. Macarius Donneyong, Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and lead exciting research projects that blend methods in pharmacoepidemiology with Artificial intelligence (AI)/Machine learning (ML) techniques to generate real-world evidence on the use of prescribed medications, especially among older adults and racial/ethnic minorities. A strong interest in social determinants of health and health equity research is highly desirable for this position. A researcher position is available in the lab of Dr. Shuiying Hu within the Experimental Cancer Pharmacology Laboratory at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy (Columbus, Ohio). Involvement with ongoing projects related to the identification of solute carriers/transporters for small molecule drugs. This position requires knowledge of the use of molecular biology, and biochemistry for the functionally characterization of transporters using an array of in vitro and in vivo models. Research activities are consistent with standard in vitro and in vivo techniques utilized in pharmaceutical sciences (e.g., PK/PD studies, uptake assays), oncology (e.g., cell viability assays, cytotoxicity assays, immunoblotting), and neuroscience (e.g., behavioral studies, IF/confocal microscopy). The Post Doctoral Scholar will perform research on neuroimmune mechanisms of early life stress and pediatric traumatic brain injury and its effects on brain development, transcriptomic changes, neural plasticity, and complex social, affective and cognitive behavior in rodent models; in pursuant to research goals, designs and leads experiments, including rodent husbandry, surgery and behavior testing, transcriptomic, biochemical, molecular, and histological assessments; maintains current understanding of relevant literature; contribute to publication of manuscripts for research projects that have been conducted already and require writing and publication, as well as preparing manuscripts based on data the individual generates; assists with grant writing of the PI; works closely with all members of the lab team at OSU Department of Psychology and other OSU collaborators.

Conduct research to address known challenges in row crop agricultural production. Duties will include: establishing field, lab/growth chamber, and greenhouse research trials, conducting data collection in field trials using instrumentation, overseeing sample processing and data entry, conducting lab germination assays on seeds, installing and downloading data from weather sensors, assisting with grant writing and funding opportunities, assisting with writing and presenting research results in scholarly journals and professional meetings. This person will also take part in practical beekeeping projects related to the control of Varroa mites in honey bee hives and should be capable of basic colony maintenance and other beekeeping activities with at least 3 years of beekeeping experience.

The ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors with honey bee colonies under hot conditions is required. A valid Driver’s License is required. A Ph.D. in Entomology or a related field is required.

The Department of Physics at the Ohio State University, along with the Center for Cosmology and Astro Particle Physics (CCAPP), is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on experimental high-energy neutrino physics under the supervision of Prof. Zoya Vallari. 

The group is involved in several key analyses, hardware, and operations projects for the neutrino oscillation experiments NOvA and DUNE, as well as in the combined oscillation analyses between NOvA and T2K. The Post Doctoral Scholar will take a leading role in data analysis, calibration, operations, and software development projects within these experiments . Travel to Fermilab, CERN and other locations for conferences or collaboration meetings is expected.

The Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Neuropsychology will pursue specialized research clinical training, education, and research. The training philosophy is based on the scientist-practitioner model and is consistent with the Houston Conference Guidelines for training in clinical neuropsychology (Hannay, Bieliauskas, Crosson, Hammeke, Hamsher, & Koffler, 1998). The THRIVE lab focuses on conducting and disseminating research to promote resilience and well-being among children who have experienced childhood trauma, including child maltreatment and exposure to violence. Specifically, we study the short-and long-term effects of child maltreatment on child and adolescent development, with a particular interest in identifying factors and mechanisms that promote or hinder resilience after exposure to trauma. The mission of the THRIVE lab is to generate new knowledge through high-quality, innovative research to inform interventions that will enhance the well-being of children and adolescents who have experienced childhood trauma.

The postdoctoral fellow will join the THRIVE lab to gain experience in child maltreatment and resilience research, get the opportunity to work on various quantitative and qualitative research projects (e.g., secondary data analysis, longitudinal studies, survey data collection, intervention evaluation projects) on childhood trauma, child maltreatment, adolescent behavioral health (e.g., substance use), and resilience.

Identifies and defines research objectives related to basic and applied research on soil carbon sequestration and soil quality, in coordination with IICA with Institute of International Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), San Jose, Costa Rica. Develops and takes part in pertinent activities to strengthen inter-disciplinary research on soil carbon sequestration. Performs soil analyses and evaluates soil quality index. This postdoctoral position is dedicated to studying autophagy functions in glia for breast cancer brain metastasis. The Wang laboratory also focuses on the functions and mechanisms of selective autophagy and lipid metabolisms in neural stem cells, microglia, and astrocytes. The lab developed novel genetically engineered mouse models to study roles of autophagy genes in brain developmental and in progress of breast cancer brain metastasis. We use a variety of techniques including single cell RNA-seq, single nuclei RNA-seq, single cell lineage tracing, human iPSC derived cerebral organoids, chemogenetics, clarity technique, patch clamp, super-resolution images, metabolic/molecular/cellular approaches to gain insights in autophagy’s functions in human developmental disorders and breast cancer brain metastasis.  

The position of Post Doctoral Scholar in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) offers an excellent opportunity to conduct research in an interdisciplinary team with healthcare professionals, computer science/AI experts, and health communication/implementation science experts. The Post Doctoral Scholar is expected to design and evaluate AI-based systems for clinical decision-making and/or disease management, conduct surveys and interviews with clinicians and patients, write grant proposals, and publish high-quality papers in top computer science journals/conferences and biomedicine journals. Doctoral degree in a biological or health sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; experience in animal studies, molecular biology techniques, cell signaling pathways and prior training in atherosclerosis; immunology; biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology is strongly preferred; scientific publication record desired.
