(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc in the domain of coherent spin shuttling for scaling semiconductor qubits

Building on in-house fabricated devices, we have recently demonstrated the ability to shuttle electrons between gate defined quantum dots in Si/SiGe over micron-scale distances using only four different AC-voltages, independent of the distance covered https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.00879 . Theoretical consideration indicate good prospects for maintaining spin-coherence of the shuttled electron, which would make this approach very promising for scaling up semiconductor spin qubit devices. This position focuses on experimentally demonstrating coherent spin shuttling, shuttling-compatible high-fidelity qubit control and further ingredients for a shuttling-based architecture, using devices from academic or industrial fabrication.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Atomic-Scale Quantum Sensing and Information

The research will be part of the recent ERC Starting Grant “Atomic Scale Quantum Sensing and Information with Molecular Nanostructures on a Scanning Probe Tip” (ERC-2024-StG, QuSINT). Our research focuses on the study of quantum magnetism at the atomic scale. We build artificial quantum architectures from single atoms and molecules on surfaces and on probe tips, control their spin states, and study qubit systems. A particular emphasis is on exploiting the manipulation capabilities of scanning probe microscopes to fabricate molecular quantum sensors on probe tips to detect the tiny electric and magnetic fields of quantum systems at the atomic level (Nature Nanotechnology 19, 1466 (2024)), e.g. in emerging quantum materials such as 2D materials.
The research is carried out in our newly established laboratory with two millikelvin scanning probe microscopes in ultra-high vacuum with adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration (Rev. Sci. Instrum. 92, 063701, (2021)). The millikelvin systems reach temperatures below 30 mK and allow the application of magnetic fields to the sample. We characterize the magnetic properties of the quantum systems using standard spectroscopic detection schemes and electron spin resonance.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc – Design of Experiment and Digital Process Optimization for CO2 Electrolysis

At IET-1, we are studying the CO2 electrolysis for the sustainable conversion of green energy into chemical energy carriers in order to defossilize the chemical industry. The process control and optimization of electrolysis from the cell to the stack requires automated monitoring, analysis, and control of the operating parameters and processes. As part of this project, the potential of high-throughput systems is maximized using design of experiment (DoE) approaches in order to efficiently explore the high-dimensional parameter space of the electrolysis processes. DoE is required for data-efficient exploration and optimization within the process parameter space as well as for adaptive, data-driven machine learning to map the electrolysis process to a digital twin. Data workflows and interfaces (application programming interface, API) for system control are being developed in order to automate both process monitoring and process control.
