Postdoc summary/title: Researcher sustainable poultry nutrition
As a researcher in sustainable poultry nutrition within the Animal Nutrition Department of Wageningen Livestock Research, you utilize your knowledge of nutrition and feeding strategies to improve sustainability of the poultry sector.
Together with your colleagues you contribute to circular agriculture with practical innovations in the poultry sector from a nutritional perspective. You will work on circular ingredients for poultry diets and think about reduction of nutrient losses without compromising animal health and welfare in broiler breeders, broilers, and laying hens. We work in more fundamental as well as applied research projects for clients in the international animal feed industry as well as the primary sector and the Dutch government.
Deadline : 13 July 2025

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position – Analyzing pesticide degradation across scales for sustainable food production
The amount and type of pesticide residues in soil are important indicators of soil health. Pesticide degradation in soil is a complex process influenced by microbial activity, soil properties, and farm management practices. Understanding these interactions is important for predicting pesticide persistence, optimizing sustainable agricultural practices, and mitigating environmental risks.
In this postdoc you will advance the fundamental understanding of pesticide residues in soils through experimentation, modelling, and big data analysis. You will:
- Combine existing farm management, soil property and soil pesticide residue data at the European scale to disentangle impacts of different drivers on the amounts and types of pesticides found in soil.
- Expand an existing trait-based model to understand and quantify the role of the microbial community in pesticide degradation.
- Validate the theoretical findings with degradation experiments in the soil-plant system.
Deadline : 13 July 2025
(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: PostDoc Greenhouse gas balance of fen meadow landscapes
As a PostDoc, you will work on the following research topics (relative weight to be determined based on your interest and qualifications)
- contribute to (mobile) greenhouse gas monitoring strategies, their operations at (sub-) ecosystem to regional scales and to related data processing, aggregation and consolidation work flows;
- analyse and scale carbon dioxide and methane flux data from multiple locations and transects in relation to explanatory variables from vegetation and soil characteristics, land and water management and meteorology;
- develop data driven models of regional greenhouse gas balances for the fen meadow areas of the Netherlands under (emission reduction) management; use the model to simulate distributed emissions at regional to national scale;
- develop data-assimilation strategies, i.e. feeding models with near real time observations to continuously constrain model parameters, creating a digital twin of Dutch fen meadow areas;
- analyse the impacts of climate anomalies and climate change on regional greenhouse gas emissions;
- analyse trade-offs and synergies between nature management and climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in wetlands.
Deadline : 28 July 2025
