The Kinga Unocic Research Group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to start December 2024. The Postdoc Research Scholars’ primary duties will include performing high-temperature oxidation testing, characterization of oxidation coupons, and assisting with the lab setup.

We are seeking highly motivated and independent post-doctoral candidates to investigate the immunoregulatory signaling mechanisms in myeloid cells during viral infections and tumor progression. Our lab at NCSU offers a remarkable training environment for post-doctoral candidates, including opportunities to build independent research projects, research proposal development and writing, mentor undergraduate/graduate students, and generous support and guidance to transition to the next career stage. Our lab’s main research focus is to understand molecular and cellular networks driving immune evasion during chronic viral infections and tumor progression and develop novel targeted immunotherapies to promote anti-viral and anti-tumor immunity.
We are looking for post-doctoral candidates who have recently graduated or have less than 3 years of post-doctoral experience with a strong background in either immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, epigenetics, medicinal chemistry, or relevant fields. Experience working with rodent models, flow cytometry, viruses, and mammalian cell culture is highly desired.
The candidate is expected to be highly motivated, self-driven, independent, and self-desired to make significant major contributions to the science.
Candidate should be willing to work collaboratively with lab members and colleagues and open to learning and exploring new areas of science, particularly protein engineering, novel drug delivery formulations and approaches, bioinformatics, metabolomics, and medicinal chemistry.
Candidate is expected perform experiments independently with minimal supervision involving, ocular infection, inflammation, innate/adaptive immunity, signal transduction, and animal (mouse model) handling.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar – PHHI
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Valacchi’s Lab at Plants for Human Health Institute (NCSU, Research Campus, Kannapolis) for a highly motivated candidate to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of oxidative stress challenges including pollution in skin tissues. Excellent skills in the domain of cell culture techniques, molecular biology, silencing technique, CRISPR gene editing, microscopy, keratinocytes and fibroblasts isolation from human and mouse tissues, and performing experiments on 3D tissue models are requested. The Postdoctoral researcher is expected to excel in areas of skin pathophysiology. Tasks will include but are not limited to, designing and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting data on research projects, and presenting data to seminars and conferences. The Postdoc is also expected to monitor student interns and lab personnel and help in parallel projects.

Commercial Leap Ahead for Wide Bandgap Semiconductors (CLAWS)is looking to hire two post-doctoral research scholars to support the development of III-Nitride electronic devices. These candidates are expected to contribute to device design or device manufacturing/test, or both. Key responsibilities include:
Develop and characterize advanced GaN devices for radio frequency (RF) and high-power applications.
Establish best practices for device design and optimization, in particular through the incorporation of new materials and operational physics.

The position will exist within the Secure Software Supply Chain Center (S3C2) that is part of the Secure Computing Institute (SCI) led by Drs. Laurie Williams and William Enck. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Research Scholar
The Department of Electrical Engineering (College of Engineering) and the College of Sciences (Department of Physics, Department of Mathematics) are searching for two (2) Postdoctoral Research Scholars in quantum computing at NC State University. The two positions will work synergistically on hybrid continuous-discrete-variable quantum computing, broadly defined. One position will focus on condensed matter physics, quantum simulation; the other position will focus on compilation, benchmark, and HPC simulation of quantum circuits.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Research Scholar
We are seeking Postdoctoral Research Scholars to join a multidisciplinary team working in bioinformatics striving to implement fundamental changes in the applied breeding of specialty crops within the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina. Breeding of specialty crops has lagged behind the major crops, but these specialty species together have equal economic value to the major crops and provide much of human nutrition. Breeding Insight (BI; https://www.breedinginsight.org/) is a national-scale project striving to combine genomics, phenomics, and informatics to accelerate genetic gains in specialty crops. A partner effort called BI OnRamp led by Dr. Amanda Hulse-Kemp has been set up to streamline commodity-specific success and build new technologies; this position will be a primary leader in the BI OnRamp project and efforts. The position will work towards the development of integrated software pipelines to analyze large sets of breeding data and build technology platforms for phenotypic data collection as a part of a national initiative to extend the application of advanced breeding methods.

The research project will study how human users (as a driver or AV user) interact with AVs on the road to investigate a set of problems like (1) how human drivers decide whether to cooperate with AVs (e.g., to yield or not) and (2) how AV users decide whether to accept the cooperation from the algorithmic design? We are interested in learning the influential factors in such human-AV interactions, the decision-making process from the cognitive and/or behavioral economics perspective, and how to develop strategies to promote human-AV cooperation (e.g., via improved communication design, or nudging).

We invite applications for a 6‑month postdoctoral research fellow to lead and contribute to method development and applied analyses in statistical genomic fine‑mapping with a focus on dissecting the genetic architecture of inbreeding depression. We are recruiting a postdoctoral scholar who will conduct research focused on understanding genotype-by-environment interactions, and/or environmental adaptation using quantitative/statistical genetics and machine learning. Alternatively, we are also considering candidates who have molecular biology experience, with an interest in scaling translatomic methods (e.g., Riboseq) to understand how sequence variation impacts translation efficiency. The postdoctoral scholar is expected to work in maize or other crop plants and to generate and analyze datasets from high throughput phenotyping and/or genomic, transcriptomic, or translatomic sequencing data. Due to the nature of funding, the scholar will have considerable flexibility to define their research trajectory. The scholar will also have the opportunity to develop professionally through mentoring students, writing manuscripts or grant proposals, and communicating research findings.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar Position – Pain Research
The Translational Research in Pain (TRiP) Program and the Mishra Lab at North Carolina State University is looking for a dynamic and talented postdoctoral research scholar for a position that is immediately available.
The NIH-funded work evaluating the role of ligand (s)/receptor(s) signaling in osteoarthritis (OA) pain to (1) understand the mechanisms of musculoskeletal pain, and (2) identification of therapeutic targets for musculoskeletal pain using two different mouse models of OA, and naturally occurring OA in owned pet dogs and cats. Both ligand and receptor components will be investigated in normal and disease conditions using naïve and transgenic animals with variety of cellular and molecular approaches. The project involves behavioral assays of pain, function and movement (reflexive, limb use, complex behaviors) in all species; benchtop molecular biology assays (e.g., qPCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, Ca2+ imaging, in-situ hybridization, IHC); histology. This will be a two-year minimum position, and this would be the successful candidate’s main focus of work.

Help initiate the new Genome Editing Center at NCSU by leading one of the first projects at the center and by helping to get the center’s fundamental capabilities established. Execute a project on wheat breeding technology research which aims to deliver a novel tool that will significantly enhance the performance of hybrid wheat, a new type of crop that is being introduced by major seed companies in Europe and in North America in the latter half of this decade. Genome editing trait design (in partnership with the head of the genome editing center)
