The successful candidate will have expertise in masculinities studies in education, gender, sociology of education, intersecting with qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies, teacher education, practitioner-oriented research, and scholarship.

This position will work closely in collaboration with Dr. Michael Kehler, Werklund Research Professor of Masculinities Studies and provides an opportunity to develop the current research agenda within Masculinities Studies in Education. Research, current and ongoing, addresses areas intersecting masculinities and gender more broadly with specific lines of inquiry into: body image, adolescent masculinities, homophobia, sport, physical health education, and allyship. This is not an exhaustive list and is open to further areas of inquiry that build on already established research. In addition to building a clear research agenda, the candidate will work closely with Dr. Kehler to develop and submit collaborative research grants at both the provincial and national level. With a focus on research development, publications and scholarship, the successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong emerging research record and moreover, demonstrate excellent initiative in both analytical, organizational, and writing abilities. 

A full-time Postdoctoral Scholar (PDS) opportunity is available at the University of Calgary, Canada, to begin on or about January 1, 2026 under the supervision of Dr Emma Climie. This PDS will contribute to a variety of projects aimed at a gaining deeper insight into the strengths and experiences of individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) across the lifespan, with a focus on girls/women.

There are multiple research avenues for PDS involvement, with potential opportunities in:

• Supporting the development and implementation of a large national study examining the strengths of girls/women with ADHD, including consideration of social-emotional mental health and well-being, diagnostic experiences, and life events
• Examining the strengths, stigmatization, and experiences of children & youth with ADHD and their families
• Exploring the strengths of emerging adults with ADHD across contexts
• Collaborating with partner organizations to carry out national research projects related to knowledge of ADHD, stigma, and knowledge translation

The PDS will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with researchers from various faculties across campus (e.g., psychology, medicine, community health), as well as community organizations and institutions across the country. They will have access to existing data sets as well as ongoing data collection and will be encouraged to expand their own research in these areas through the development of complementary research projects. The PDS will be supported in the supervision of junior students, manuscript creation, sharing of research findings (e.g., conferences, community presentations), scholarship and grant applications, and career guidance. Teaching opportunities also exist, if of interest to the successful candidate, but are not a requirement of the position.

We are seeking a motivated and hard-working post-doctoral scholar to do a mix of independent research and joint projects with University of Calgary faculty. The postdoctoral scholar will work directly with Dr. Blake Shaffer and Dr. Sarah Johnston, with the opportunity to collaborate with other faculty as well.

The postdoctoral role will involve independent research, as well as participation in a multi-year NRCan-funded project entitled Western Transmission Catalysts: Practical pathways to expanding interprovincial transmission in Western Canada. The project brings together four provincial governments, four grid operators, several industry partners, and over 40 First Nations to lay the foundation for successful expansion of Indigenous-led interprovincial transmission. The scholar would play an active role in the project team and have flexibility to work in areas of the project most suited to their skills and interest.

There may be sessional opportunities to teach in the Department of Economics during the postdoctoral scholar’s tenure in the department if this is of interest to the scholar. This would be on an as available basis and at the option of the scholar. Any teaching would be remunerated as a sessional instructor, in addition to postdoctoral salary.

The scholar will have the opportunity to participate in joint research involving field experiments on electricity demand flexibility, with a particular focus on electric vehicle charging and smart thermostats. The scholar would be expected to assist in program development and implementation, and post-experiment analysis and writing.

There may be sessional opportunities to teach in the Department of Economics during the postdoctoral scholar’s tenure in the department if this is of interest to the scholar. The primary focus will be on implementation science and its application to pharmacogenetic testing in youth mental health. The successful candidate will lead all evaluation components of the implementation trial, guided by implementation models. They will also contribute to educational material development, EMR/EHR integration activities, and conduct interviews with patients and providers to understand implementation barriers and facilitators. Additional opportunities to contribute may be available depending on candidates¿ interest and expertise.  

Under her Canada Excellence Research Chair in photonic quantum science and technologies, Dr. Urbasi Sinha is setting up a state-of-the-art quantum optics lab that will work on different aspects of quantum technologies using photons. It will emphasize strong synergy between application-driven research, which addresses immediate needs, and foundational research, which enables the technologies of the future. 

As a part of this initiative, the successful candidate will develop and conduct quantum memories research with vacancies in diamond, especially nanofabrication experiments related to nitrogen, silicon and/or other vacancies in diamond. They will receive a $5,000 CAD research and travel allowance to support such requirements, subject to approval by the Principal Investigator. 

The successful candidate will work on a CIHR-funded, internationally collaborative project using zebrafish genetic models of vascular stabilization. The project aims to understand the genetic factors that contribute to cerebral small vessel disease and stroke using mechanistic development biology, molecular biology and genetic approaches.

The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Medical Genetics in the Cumming School of Medicine  at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Medical Genomics/Bioinformatics.

Here, we are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow with a strong background in genomics/bioinformatics/computational biology to drive development of tools for variant calling and interpretation in individual genomic backgrounds from the perspective of identifying genetic factors that contribute to variable expressivity and reduced penetrance of rare genetic disorders (genetic modifiers/genetic interaction identification).

This position offers the candidate a unique opportunity to be exposed to the multidisciplinary team (model organism researchers, molecular geneticist, clinicians, bioinformaticians and scientists), as well as multidisciplinary approaches and to contribute innovative research with a substantial direct translational potential.

Seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with interest in gut-brain communication in health and disease. We have a long-standing interest in exploring gut-brain communication (if curious see our highlighted publications: Biological Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, and Molecular Metabolism), and current projects in the lab include investigation of novel neurocircuits and 
behaviors affected but gut peptides such as GLP-1, GIP and amylin, as well as the vagus nerve.  

This position will require competence using molecular and in vivo experimental techniques. Work will include rodent behavioral testing, rodent neuroanatomy, confocal microscopy, in vivo 
opto/chemogenetics and metabolic characterization. It will also include work with genetic vectors and pharmacological techniques in combination with stereotaxic surgery in rats. 

Performing fundamental molecular techniques including RNAscope, immunohistochemistry, ELISAs and PCR will also be routine, support to learn these methods will be offered if needed. 
The successful candidate must have experience in working with at least some of the above mentioned methods and willingness to learn the others.

Ability to manipulate the vagus nerve, including precise vagal, nodose ganglia injections, in vivo photometry, or voltammetry is desirable but not required. Opportunity to learn these methods 
will be offered. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn miniscope-based imaging. We also expect the candidate to contribute to dissemination of findings through publications and
