Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral fellow (project leader) Computational image science in infection biology

The successful candidate will lead the computational single-cell imaging platform. This includes designing robust segmentation and tracking pipelines, developing classifiers of growth and viability, and establishing scalable frameworks across diverse bacterial species. The role also involves identification of dynamic phenotypes, defining descriptors of antibiotic response, and integration of these measurements into models. The candidate will co-supervise doctoral researchers, contribute to grant proposals, and provide technical leadership of the computational part within a highly interdisciplinary research environment.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral researcher (100%) in Structural Biology & Natural Product Biosynthesis

A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Prof. Robin Teufel that focuses on the elucidation of natural product biosynthetic pathways and the underlying enzymology. You will be exploring bacterial aromatic polyketide biosynthesis by studying the involved enzymes mechanistically and structurally. These enzymes will be systematically exploited and engineered in cooperation with project partners focusing on the synthetic approaches to produce natural product derivatives as potential lead compounds, which will be assessed in terms of bioactivities such as antibiotic and anticancer properties. Insights regarding the complex catalytic mechanisms are expected to also contribute to our basic understanding of polyketide structural diversification. The place of work is at the Pharmacenter in Basel. Fluency in English (C2 level) is required.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Position in Reproductive Health and Biology (100%)

The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need.
 
With more than 70 research groups and 800 employees, the Department of Biomedicine is the largest department at the University. We are located in the heart of Basel at 6 different locations. Be part of our future!
We are establishing a new research laboratory led by Prof. Frauke von Versen, focusing on reproductive biology and women’s health through interdisciplinary basic, translational, and clinical research. Our work investigates mechanisms underlying maternal and child outcomes after assisted reproductive technologies, with a particular focus on corpus luteum–derived endocrine signals in decidualization and endothelial function.
Additional research areas include the pathomechanisms of endometriosis using 3D and organoid models, as well as the links between reproductive disorders, reproductive aging, and premature vascular aging contributing to long-term cardiovascular risk.
We seek an experienced postdoctoral fellow with a strong background in reproductive biology and in vitro models, who is motivated to help build and shape a new research group.
Experience in 3D cell culture, microscopy techniques (e.g., fluorescence and confocal microscopy), as well as organoid-based disease modeling is an advantage. An interest for software-based analysis and ev. R-programming is welcome. We welcome applicants who are detail-oriented, enthusiastic about innovative research, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Computational Biology (100%)

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team. You will develop and apply advanced statistical and causal inference methods to characterize developmental trajectories from longitudinal multi-omics data, with the goal of understanding how early-life perturbations shape long-term health outcomes across diverse pediatric populations.
You will have the opportunity to work with rich datasets from international pediatric cohorts spanning diverse geographic and socioeconomic contexts, including longitudinal multi-omics data from both local and international collaborations. You will be part of a collaborative research environment with close interactions with the Basel Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH), the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB), and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH).
A strong interest in applying mathematical modelling to biological questions and excellent teamwork and communication skills in English are required.
