Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow, Physics and Engineering Physics
Postdoc positions are available in the Materials Theory and Computation (MaTComp) group at Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) under the direction of Prof. Jianwei Sun. The research will focus on density functional theory (DFT) development. Three major directions are: 1) meta-generalized gradient approximations, 2) local hybrid density functionals to treat self-interaction error and strong correlation with a computational efficiency similar to popular hybrid density functionals, 3) calculating/visualizing/modelling the exchange correlation hole for challenging systems that undergird density functional approximations and using the understanding to develop nonlocal density functionals. Additionally, the researcher will apply cutting edge density functionals to solve material problems in the sustainable energy economy and quantum information technology where self-interaction correction is critical.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow, Psychology
The Social Memory Lab, directed by Dr. Ben Deen, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow. The lab studies social perception, cognition, and memory, with the goal of characterizing the cognitive and neural basis or our ability to understand other people. We use behavioral and neuroimaging (fMRI) methods in humans, with a focus on precision imaging of functional organization in individual brains. Specific research projects within that scope are flexible and dependent on the interests of the candidate. Fellows will have the opportunity to conceive of and design research studies, lead and participate in data collection and analysis, mentor graduate and undergraduate lab members, write fellowship and grant proposals, and present their results at scientific conferences.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow, The Brain Institute
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position focused on the impact of estrogens and estrogen receptors on female cognitive aging and risk of Alzheimer’s disease is currently available in the neuroendocrinology laboratory of Dr. Jill Daniel at the Brain Institute at Tulane University. The broad goal of the research conducted in the lab is to understand the impact of estrogens and androgens on the brain and cognition across the lifespan, from early in development during which they help organize mammalian brains as male or female to later in life during which changes in their levels impact the aging brain and risk for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The current position is funded by a grant from the National Institute on Aging that aims to understand how short-term midlife estradiol administration can exert long-term impacts on brain and memory, including risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Research is conducted in rodent models and experimental approaches used in the lab include behavioral analyses, biochemical and molecular assays, and viral-vector mediated and pharmacological neural manipulations.
