Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Application for Postdoctoral Research Associate
We are seeking an extremely motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in neural systems or circuits investigations. The postdoctoral researcher will leverage the lab’s optical neurophysiology toolkit to investigate neural circuit function underlying behavior in the nematode C. elegans. Experimental approaches will include brain-wide population calcium imaging of brain activity, optogenetic manipulation of specific neurons and circuits, large-scale measurements of functional connectivity, behavioral experiments, genetic studies and measures of gene expression. Possible application domains may include sensorimotor processing, chemosensory guided navigation, mating behavior or learning.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Application for Postdoctoral Research Associate
A postdoctoral or more senior research position is available in the Jimah Lab to study the mechanism of membrane fission processes, including endocytosis, in human cells. Projects include investigating the structural basis of proteins involved in membrane fission by single-particle cryo-EM structure determination, as well as investigating these proteins in vivo by cryo-electron tomography / cryo-correlative light and electron microscopy (cryo-ET / cryo-CLEM) enabled by cryo-FIB-SEM (focused ion beam/scanning electron microscopy). Investigations into the mechanism of membrane fission processes will utilize a multidisciplinary approach comprising biochemistry, biophysics, and cell biology to complement our primary tools from structural biology. The postdoctoral scholar will have access to cutting-edge cryo-EM equipment at the Imaging & Analysis Center and other instrumentation in various core facilities at Princeton University. The position is available starting January 2022 with a negotiable start date. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.

The High Meadows Environmental Institute has an opening for a postdoctoral or more senior researcher in the area of air-sea interactions to work with Prof. Luc Deike, in collaboration with Dr. Brandon Reichl from NOAA-GFDL. The candidate will work on a mechanistic formulation for gas transfer, that fully accounts for the effects of sea-state, wind, and key physico-chemical variables such as diffusivity, solubility and temperature through the role of bubble mediated gas exchange, based on the formulations from Deike and Melville 2018; Reichl and Deike 2020. The candidate will use the state-of-the-art spectra wave model, WAVEWATCH III, leveraging recent progress in wave modeling, to directly estimate the breaking statistic, and evaluate the global and regional bubble contribution to air-sea gas exchange for various gases key to the climate system such as carbon dioxide. The modeling approach will be systematically evaluated against recent and historical data sets.

Princeton University is seeking a postdoctoral or more senior researcher as part of a new multi-institution initiative ‘Hidden Symmetries and Fusion Energy’ funded by the Simons Foundation. The goal of the initiative is to build a mathematical and computational foundation for the design of stellarators for magnetic plasma confinement. The University Center for Human Values invites applications for Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Faculty Fellowships for the academic year 2023-24. Fellows devote an academic year in residence at Princeton to research and writing about topics involving human values in public and private life. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Application for Postdoctoral Research Associate: GHG mitigation strategies – Climate, Air Quality & Health
The Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral or more senior scholar to conduct interdisciplinary research on the co-benefits of various greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation strategies and energy technologies for climate, air quality and health. We seek candidates with doctoral level training in energy systems, atmospheric science (including satellite data analysis and atmospheric chemistry transport modeling), economics, policy, or public health and with an interest and ability to bridge across disciplines and conduct integrated assessments. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Application for Postdoctoral Research Associate: Biodiversity Conservation
positions report to Professor David S. Wilcove (see https://scholar.princeton.edu/dwilcove) in the following areas of research:
(1) Impacts of land use and climate change on freshwater biodiversity. We seek someone to study the effectiveness of riparian reserves in conserving freshwater fish or the responses of freshwater fish to future land-use and climate changes at large spatial scales, using data from the literature and publicly available datasets. Required skills include extensive experience synthesizing and analyzing large datasets (including land cover) and extensive experience with statistical modeling and GIS/spatial analysis. Experience sampling freshwater biodiversity in the field or in leading research involving tropical and/or subtropical aquatic systems is desirable. This work will be done in collaboration with Dr. Xingli Giam at the University of Tennessee (www.giamlab.com).
(2) Habitat associations of migratory land birds in China. This field-based project involves collecting data on the diversity and abundance of migratory land birds during the spring and autumn in a range of natural and anthropogenic habitats in Eastern China, with the goal of developing recommendations for the protection and restoration of suitable habitats for these species. Required skills include extensive experience leading fieldwork and surveying wild bird communities, the ability to identify birds in Eastern China by both sight and sound, strong analytical skills, and fluency in Mandarin. This work will be done in collaboration with Dr. Fangyuan Hua at Peking University (https://www.conservationee.org).
